2.4GHz realtime FFT spectrum analyzer/spectrogram protoype with HDMI output from a Artix7 FPGA

What you see here exaclty is the downconverter AD/Maxim MAX2831 transferring a 40MHz window of the 2.4GHz ISM frequency band wond to a 2x20MHz complex baseband. This is digizied by a Texas Instruments 12 BIT ADC3222 and streamed via 4 LVDS lanes into a Artix7 XC7A100T FPGA. This chip then transforms the time domain into the frequency domain, creating then a screen display send out to a HDMI capable monitor.
It is the first part of the EU-funded research project. In a first step to the 2.4GHz intrusion / hacker attack sentinel device "RA-Sentinel" I designed this Spectrumanalyzer gadet the test the lowest layer. The Spectrum Monitor can be seen as a proof of concept. For some it may be a nice tool already... You're free to go ahead, build and modify it to your needs. All is open available to build it by yourself. I will offer ready-to-use RF frontend s later in my Tindie shop.

( you may not need the big XC7A100T, maybe the 075 or even 50 is sufficient - if you be careful with the RAM usage or use the external DDR or SDRAM as a buffer (my next step btw.)

It looks like it is :D The Semtech LoRa chip SX1276 can receive (G)FSK from 800 to 1000MHz up to 300kBit/s, so why not trying to receive the 270.833kBits of a 2G base station? On the video you see a short recording of a GSM dummy burst (slot 0, 935.4MHz, ARFCN 2) picked up at Pin DIO2 of a SX1276 chip. The signal is comming from a R&S CMD57 generator. Of course, now we need to resync on the bit...
FFT with a Semtech SX1255 70cm frontend and a STM32H743 mcu

A quick prototype. The digital IQ data from SX1255 433MHz tranceiver chip are fed via I2S bus into the ARM Cortex M7 MCU STM32H743 running at 400MHz. This performs a 512 point FFT and puts out the result (1 MHz spectrum) inalmost realtime to the LCD port of the MCU. update rate without much optimization is ~155fps.

DG3YEV listen to OK1VHF 200kms away in Prague. I'm using a 2m Kit Hohentwiel Kit TRX but not with the original xtal LO, but with a Si570 digital oscillator (Funkamateuer FA-SY Kit). Almost the same quality!!! The lower display shows the original analog LO (inactive) and the upper one is the active digital LO from Si570. BTW we completed QSO later with 59 each!!

    Schade, man hätte auch mal den DXPatrol GPSDO V2/V3 auch vergleichen können. Etwas günstiger als der Leo. 73!

    ich hab auch mal 2 GPS Disciplined Oscillator am 2 Strahl Oszi verglichen. Beide hatten GPS Kontakt, synchron wurden die nie. Natürlich musste dann auch ein Rubidium Frequenznormal dran. Offenbar haben Cäsium Atomuhren eine andere Gangart als Rubidium Atomuhren.

    Hi Tobias, great video - one question for dummies like me - were you using your Rubidium to trigger the scope? I mean, if you are making the assumption that the rubidium is best, then trigger to that, however - what if the rubidium was wrong and the leo bodnar was right? Wouldn't that change the perspective? Sorry if it is a dumb question aber wer misst misst mist. :)

      Source 3 is the trigger channel and that is the Rubidium FS.

    endlich, das este video (hab schon viele gesehen) bei dem rüber kommt, das das swr sich vor einem Spiegel ändert! ufb ! den meisten ist leider zudem nicht klar, wo der abstahlpunkt einer helix ist. ...so Rücken sie dann weit ausserhalb des brennpunktes und beauchen unnötig viel leistung. best 73,a

      @@trombabaroque dazu kann ich LEIDER keine mit quellen belegbare Antwort geben!! leider ....... ich habe einige versuche mit 8 windungen gemacht (da mir die meßgeräte fehlen , bin ich auf versuch und fehler angewiesen!) ich kann dir höchstens einen subjektiven Eindruck dessen vermitteln, was ich erfahren habe, aber wissenschaftlich untermauern kann ich nichts! ich möchte auch keinen unsinn von mir geben!! Versuche einfach die helix an dem Spiegel zum empfang sehr schwacher signale zu benutzen und verändere den abstand schrittweise, bis ein maximum gefunden ist..mehr weiß ich darüber auch nicht:( best 73!

    Offenbar eine gute Lösung, mit dem Blechstreifen bin ich nicht klargekommen. Mit dieser Lösung komme ich auf ein SWR von 1.04:1 = -35dB - ein Traum. Die verwendete Software nennt sich "SATSAGEN" für den Pluto und ist von IU1KVL .

    Having a visual representation of what happened is great however it would have been nice to use a frequency counter based on the rubidium to measure the frequencies of those GPS oscillators over time.
