Restore an Acre
The Restore an Acre project was developed in 2015 to improve the health of our Island’s forests and create an environmental stewardship model. All donations are used toward the restoration of a 220-acre public forest on the Selkirk Road (Route 23) in King’s County, PEI. Since the project’s inception in 2015, restoration efforts have been directed to thousands of acres.

PART 3 in our RESTORATION FORESTRY SERIES. This video covers the basic principles of patch-cutting, which is a foundational restoration forestry technique. Limbing Coniferous Trees
มุมมอง 8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Limbing is tiring and hazardous job for a cutter. This limbing system makes cutting faster, safer, and less taxing on the body. By taking advantage of how coniferous trees grow their limbs, as well as the size and shape of the saw, this task can become much easier. www.macphailwoods.org

Drop-and-Roll and Lift-and-Roll
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
These videos cover specific cutting techniques, and are supplementary material for our chainsaw safety course. They are not a comprehensive explanation of when to use the cuts, the potential hazards, or the basics of saw use. There are many methods of dealing with hung up trees. Drop-and-rolls and lift-and-rolls use the tree's hinge to create a pivot point, allowing the cutter to roll the tree ...
Small Diameter Hazardous Trees

These videos cover specific cutting techniques, and are supplementary material for our chainsaw safety course. They are not a comprehensive explanation of when to use the cuts, the potential hazards, or the basics of saw use. Spring Poles occur when a small diameter tree is loaded under tension, often from snow load or another tree falling on it and pinning it to the ground. Although these tree...

They are not a comprehensive explanation of when to use the cuts, the potential hazards, or the basics of saw use. This felling technique is used on small diameter trees that are back leaning, and allows you to use a wedge to force the tree over. By boring through the mouth of the notc...
Bore Cut

These videos cover specific cutting techniques, and are supplementary material for our chainsaw safety course. They are not a comprehensive explanation of when to use the cuts, the potential hazards, or the basics of saw use. Bore cutting is a versatile and safe way to fell medium to large diameter trees. Not only is it great for felling trees without leans, it prevents your saw being pinched o...
Very good plunge cut explanation video.Thank You!👍🏻
Wow! I should have watched this a month ago, so that I didn't have to dodge after I broke the hinge. Great video.
Showing the method on the stump, Solid gold!
Merry Christmas
top notch instructionals. Thank you.
Hi, this is a perfect idea to show the cut from "inside", thank you a lot!! Now I finally understand it.
Can you do this for a large tree
I am a woman, new owner of a small chain saw, and doing my own (small) tree work. These are incredibly useful videos. I'm learning a lot, always recognizing that a lot of things will be beyond my capability. Thank you so much.
Beautiful and important to educate ones unaware of such creation, such as PEI Fish and Wildlife! They seem more concerned about trappers and flesh harvesters than in conservation of PEI's beautiful creatures! LIKE, what is their mission statement??????
Perfect demonstration 👍
Been doing trees for 24 years and this was educational even for me!
Super entertaining and excellent instruction!!! 🥊K. O.
Why bother? Please explain.
Now im an expert. Just playing. Awesome video.
Красиво, эстетично, но слишком долго...
Top class instruction .
How big of a trunk can I do with this method?
As a Game of Logging Instructor, I highly recommend this video and also would congratulate you on a job well done!

Excellent.
Fantastic!!!
👍👍👍
👍🏻😉
Cut compression first right!!!
Great video
I wish y’all would make more videos.
I was a top silver cultureist in hampshire and cutting Hazel quick takes alot off skill and can kill you, some off my restoration work is the best there is!
Best way to promote climate change. bravo 👏 You couldn't wait for the tree to die. Could you?
Super understandable! That demo on the stump top made it crystal clear.
best video I've seen on this topic
All pole saw cuts should be made from the top - and I agree - so how did you undercut? That's always the biggest problem for me when I'm doing that. I just end up cutting the weight off the branch in increments and hope not to tear the bark with the remaining stub cut.
Great, thanks. One of the best formats available!
Nice video, but the noise pitch of that saw 😬😬😬😄
Great editing. Thank you.
Hadir🙋
Great vid !!!! Thanks
This is my new favorite channel. Greetings from northern NB.
This is the best bore cut video on youtube. nothing even comes close.
Excellent video very precise
that explain too clear and very helpful
Definitely the best I’ve seen yet on video ! I’ve tried a few times with success . Is this necessary even on a tree having a significant lean or is it more for making sure you can wedge it when lean not so good ? Thank you
Pretty clever
Thank you. This was a great example
Very informative, good job
I was just thinking of using lift and roll using a cant hook on a tree on my land. yuuup But yeah no need to make a hole through the tree. You could also strap a log to the tree and that would work too.
