Pittsburgh Housing Market Update November 2023
I lived in East Liberty in 2003-2004 and there was some rough streets but it wasn’t too awful. My car did get stolen though 😂 never got it back.
Painted woodwork! And, it looks like the floor plan has been changed. People who do this to old houses have no soul. Disgusting.
This house is like Joe Biden-------too old. Frame house and too tiny. Market price $60k to $70k not $200k.
Woaw way cheaper then canada
I don’t know too much about prices in Canada but I am aware that Toronto is very expensive! Although you can’t truly compare a mid sized city of Pittsburgh to a huge city like Toronto it is still cheaper here than most mid sized cities!
@@TimRobertsRE I can tell you in montreal, an 1 bed room is 350k/400k $cad. A suburn house is 450k/500k cad. The rent for a 1 bed is 1400$/1500$. Our tax is 30% 40% of our income plus everything we buy is + 15%. Our salary average is like 60k cad.
189 000$ ??? Is the real estate of pittsburg that low ?
Its only a matter of time that the gules crapping on the street three blocks away, are on Railroad street. Pittsburgh is Woke. Not anything like it was before they allowed drugs to rule the now business district.
Ive lived in chicago nyc, miami, back on chicago, but i am excited to visit Pittsburgh. FYI, I hated Miami; ive been fortunate to meet many wonderful people there, but 80% of the miami population, has an inflated sense of entitlement.
The price is astronomically high. I wonder if it will sell for that in Pittsburgh
I just looked it up and looks like it was taken off the market at the beginning of June! The market indeed determines the sell price not the seller 😂
I've lived in East Liberty for a few years and the surrounding areas for the past 30 years. When I lived in E. L. around 2004 it was a little sketchy in some parts/places. There was a large apartment complex right across the street from Penley Place (where I lived). It took up that whole block. From the top of Negley and Penn to the bottom Penn and I forget that street name, but its where Wholefoods now sits. Directly across from Wholefoods was a two apt complex in one. They sat on opposite sides of Penn Ave with an underpass directly over Penn Ave. Those were just a couple of problem places. I think there was an apt building with businesses on the ground floor where Target now stands. And some other places I can't remember the names. Anyway, when I lived out there, I don't remember being afraid, but I was aware of my surroundings. I felt safe for the most part. I had never seen anything bad happening, but hard things on the news especially in Larimar. The closest thing that happened to me was that my brother got robbed at gunpoint one night. Fortunately, he wasn't harmed physically. Since the GENTERFICATION of E. L. I would say it's safer now than before, but it still has some bad apples as all places do. East Liberty is so different now and I could go on and on, but I won't.😁
I’m gonna assume since it wasn’t shown, there’s no off street parking. $200,000 is way too much for that heap in Pittsburgh.
This obviously flipped house has the ol landlord special going on big time. “Paint it gray! Paint it ALL gray!”
“Here’s a door. It’s got no handle so you can’t open it” 😂
“If you like a lot of sunlight” 😂 if you like sunlight you won’t be living in Pittsburgh. As an added bonus, those walls are as gray as the Pittsburgh sky.
I like the Victorian style homes
They are quite stylish ✨
Yeah, talk about striking while the iron is HOT! LOL - love your stuff, man.
Thank you! 🙏 plenty more to come!
The timing for this video is diabolical
I wanna see you do an Ollie 😊
That can be arranged 😂
I always think of CMU and that part of Schenley Park as being part of Oakland.
😂 yea it probably is more Oakland but it borders both so I wanted to include it. I’ll definitely include it when I eventually do a tour of Oakland!
I can't believe that Home Depot no-style interior update with lousy exterior is over half a million dollars. Greetings from Wilkins!
Wilkins township?
@@TimRobertsRE Yeah! Your local channel is so fun to see!
Nice! Thank you! 🙏
If I had that kind of budget you wouldn't catch me in the 'burgh.
Where would we catch you? 😏
@@TimRobertsRE Anyplace that doesn't have a miniature ice age every winter 🥶
Is Hawaii too far? 😂
That deck 👌
It is quite a large deck indeed 🙌
The cost of living is not as reasonable as you might expect.
Is that based on the info from this video or do you live here too? 🤔
It's true that the light rail system is limited to South Hills and downtown, but it's free downtown and over to the North Side stadiums (pretty rare in most cities). The bus system is strong -- including the city's three busways, which are basically bus-only superhighways where buses travel at 55 MPH even when regular rush hour traffic is crawling. Also, the Downtown to Oakland Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will be complete in a few years. More improvements are needed, but I moved to PGH from greater Boston and in my opinion the transit here punches above its weight for a medium-sized city.
Those are great points! The only other medium sized city I lived in was Tampa but I only used the college student buses a few times 😅 I’ll definitely keep these in mind if I ever make an updated video in the future 🙌
NOT free to North Side. Have to pay anywhere outside of downtown, Station Square and North Side included.
lol who would be looking to move there willingly
Many people
I can think of 3 reasons not to move there but 3 is enough for me. Steelers, Pirates, and the penguins.
😂 so what are your teams?
I'm drinking an Iron City and getting ready for Paul Skenes start the All-Star game. What are you doing tonight?
How walkable is Pittsburgh ⛰️
Certain areas are very walkable but others not so much!
Where’s your fav spot to watch the fireworks
My favorite spot to watch is from my couch 🤭
@@TimRobertsRE😅
I lived in Pittsburgh once back in 78
Very nice! I’m sure plenty has changed since then 😂
@@TimRobertsRE night and day
Not well done, every city has its positives and negatives. Limited real estate every where.
Thank you Bruce
Seriously, the thumbnail photo?
🤭🤭 what’s wrong with it?
I went to Pittsburgh for the first time last month. Waze took me all over the place and I it does look safer than most American cities. Summer was also mild. Pittsburgh has less zombies and abandoned buildings were surprisingly clean on the outside. It has plenty of College kids and Carnegie Melon was extremely diverse.
That is very true! I’m glad you enjoyed your time here 🙌 I definitely feel like the positives outweigh the negatives
@@TimRobertsRE Tim, you're the first realtor I've heard discuss air quality here. It's improved greatly and contiinues to improve for sure, but it's still an issue. I brought it up with a few other realtors during the buying process and they pretended they'd never heard of it...pretty unlikely. Thanks for keeping it real!
Are you aware that FORBES just naked Pgh as the number 3 best city to live in in the U S? Number 1 is Honolulu and 2 is Atlanta . I lived and was raised in Pgh before moving to Zanesville, OH 25 yrs ago. But I have friends in Pgh, visited frequently and have followed Pgh growth, etc ever since I left. I believe that the items you noted as reasons not to move to Pgh can be said of almost every large city. Significantly, almost all of these items are LESS Severe in Pgh. That's why FORBES named it #3! !
😂 I’m not sure if you watched the full video but I love Pittsburgh! This was just a fair warning for people to know if they are thinking about moving here. I think Pittsburgh is very underrated ❤️
Thanks Tim. Liked the list of employers and universities. Great insight.
No problem! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙌🙌
I found value in your video because I realized I can’t afford to live in the Strip District.
😂 well that’s one step closer to knowing which areas you can afford!
Thanks Tim!
No problem! 🙌
Pittsburgh is a high crime city, more taxes than any other state, Florida has no state tax on your paycheck, Pittsburgh has a 1 percent more tax on top of the state tax. If you live outside of Pittsburgh you oay a tax for working in Pittsburgh. This list can go on.
Do you live in Pittsburgh?
@@TimRobertsRE I used to, I moved away because of the high taxes, high crime rate. My family also moved away.
Don't forget our terrible Mayor, horrible politicians, homeless encampments, high taxes, shootings, stabbings yeah sure come to downtown Pittsburgh and enjoy all the excitement.
Sounds like any decent size city in the US
Thanks to you, now I’ve technically seen it. Hah
🤭🤭 its better in person
Back in the 60's and 70's, East Liberty was basically a "no go zone". Started turning around in the 80's with demolition of several government subsidized low income housing projects around Penn Circle. Crime started to decrease and gentrification began. Amazing turn around. Enjoy watching your videos when they pop up on my YT feed since I was born and raised in Pittsburgh but left in 1981.
Oh wow that’s difficult to imagine based on how it is now! It feels very safe walking through there. Thank you for that perspective! And I’m glad you enjoy the videos🙌🙌
Exactly!!! Except when I was in the area it wasn’t East Liberty, it was pronounced Easlibidee.
😂😂
I don't know about now but when I worked there in 2010-11 it was still a pretty sketchy neighborhood.
True. I had an apartment in S'liberty in 1973. It was on Penn in the Circle, in an old converted brick school building. I lived in a basement level apartment that had bars on the windows. Not the safest area back then, but it was only $100/month. Oh, and it had a murphy bed :)
Oh great. Another state whose housing market is about 2b plundered b/c of GREED. Congress needs to put a Stop to this.
Greed in many areas of society for sure
What neighborhood should I do next?
Have you done Mount Lebanon yet? Is that considered a neighborhood???
Not yet! I’ll add it to the queue! 😂 next three are highland park, beech view, Carnegie, then ill do mt Lebanon 🙌
@@TimRobertsRE Maybe wait until it cools off a bit because there is nothing worse than walking around on a sunny, humid day...
Nah it’s all good I have to enjoy the sunny summer days because the winters are so dark 😂
@@TimRobertsRE There's a whole TH-cam video on gray Pittsburgh 😂
I HATE living here in Pittsburgh
😢 why is that? Where would you like to live?
Never once thought about living in PA.
Yet you clicked on the video.. strange 😂
@@TimRobertsRE it was recommended 🤣
Well I appreciate you watching and your comment! 😂
Very good info! You need to do one for every place around the country! Also Costco over Sam’s. Don’t support Sam’s/Walmart.
Forgot to say that Costco actually treats their employees well. Like they are actual human beings.
Thank you Lam! Oh really? I never looked into any of that. The two places I go most are Costco and Walmart 😬
What? 😂 @@LamNguyen-df7oh
Thanks for the neighborhood videos.
Thanks for watching! Any particular ones I haven’t done yet that you would like to see?
I can’t afford Squirrel Hill. 💔
Same 😢 but I do like to walk through there
any eateries of pittsburgh for Cheesesteak?
I’d say try big shot bobs house of wings. I haven’t tried their cheesesteak specifically but I have had their Tom hardy, soldier, and heart attack sandwiches lol based on those they probably have a decent cheesesteak. Also there is a place by the Pitt campus called k station bbq with a bulgogi cheesesteak And last primanti bros is more of a traditional sandwich shape but probably good too 🤤
The strip district in Pittsburgh is really beautiful 😻
I agree!
My dad who has a huge net worth can definitely afford up to a $1.8 million house 🏡
Oh nice I need to work with him 🤭
I'm looking forward to walking. I love walking up and down hills. It's my thing. Used to live in Los Gatos with great elevation change. RIght now I'm in Stallion Springs, both Calfornia, near Tehachapi. Amazing steepness. I got to move there simply for the walking.
😂 yes if you enjoy walking hills I think it’s perfect for you!
