Will it start? 1978 GMC 3/4 ton 4X4
We drug this 1978 GMC out of a cow pasture in East Tennessee. I wanted the axles out of it because it was a 3/4 ton 4X4. It was parked over 20 years ago, and I have no idea why. The engine had been rebuilt at some point, but I don’t know when. After we got it started, we put 5 gal of gas in it, and it Ran like a top. The fuel gage read full even though it had no gas it it before. I speculate that’s why this truck was parked. “It ain’t got no gas in it!”

    I'm not sure if I can manage this soldering repair, but this video makes me want to try. I'm a novice at appliance repairs, though. Any chance you can direct me to a video on how to access this board so I can attempt the repair, or even a replacement, of this part? I've not had great luck with Google. Thanks!

      Sorry for the delay - I don't check back in here often. Removing the top of the dryer was not difficult at all. Unfortunately it's been so long, I don't remember how I did it. I'll look around and see if I can find a video for you.

    I have a JD 2355 with hydrauiic problems. My internal transmission pump is not sending the 150 pounds oil pressure to the front high pressure pump. I need to gain access to the internal hydraulic pump, which means splitting my tractor in half. I asked a JD dealer, and they want $3600 to do that. I need to find how to do it for myself. Can you help?

    The right way to do that is to replace the relay. Over time, the contacts in the relay become worn and that is why the solder joint over heats, because of the resistance. They're very cheap if you order them directly from china. They just take forever to get here.

    • @giledwards2519
      @giledwards2519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey love my 2130. Just finished plowing a field today on it. Thanks for the video very informative. A question about hydraulics, I was trying to run a three point hitch wood splitter. I had the remote lever pulled and worked the splitter back and forth which was fine. After a little use it starts to chatter on me. Still seems to work but chatters and shakes the hydraulic lines. Is that just cause the pump isn't keeping up with the flow demand or something else? Is it ok to run it like that for long periods or would it cause damage? thanks!!!!

    • @giledwards2519
      @giledwards2519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Sorry for the late reply. Do you happen to know where your return line runs to? It sounds like it runs to the transmission case. If so, you may be running the main pump out of fluid. In later models, they ran the return back to the filter cover (underneath) so that your accessory ports were not limited by the capacity of the return pump which is located in the transmission.

    • @Ewaugh69
      @Ewaugh69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@giledwards2519 hey, can't say I know for sure. Worth a look. Either way, is there a risk of damaging something by running it? Thanks a lot of getting back to me!!!

    • @giledwards2519
      @giledwards2519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ewaugh69 Shouldn't cause any damage. Just creates undesirable operation. Check those return lines and see if they just dump into the trans case, or if they go into the filter cover. I'll see if I can find a picture of the return line that goes to the filter cover so you can see what to look for!
