Facing Fear full process
"Facing Fear" is the start of a new journey for myself. Not only am I exploring more color, and the balance of it. But I am experimenting with emotion and personal experience. This piece took me in total about 10-14 hours to create, which is a fairly average amount of time for a piece this size.
I wanted the center to be more of the harsh emotions involved with facing fear, and the outside being the positive or relieving feelings associated.
The pens and paper I used are listed below

The gallery is up until August 24th 2024, with 48 of my pieces hung on their walls. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity and I hope to have another solo show at their location in the future. The Octagon has a long history of support for artists here in Ames Iowa. They are...

Don't forget to vote for your color choice! Metallic gold or silver? I have cast my secret vote, and now its your turn. Comment which one you would like to see incorporated into this piece. I'll make a second video with the chosen color. I covered a lot in this "tutorial." I hope that I answered your question about understanding how to create ribbon/waterfall/scarf folds @carole6244. Fantastic. I’ve been a bit stuck and you’ve inspired me
Thank you Isaac, your artwork and videos are sublime 😊 Big thank you all the way from Australia 😊
Those dots really brought it all together!
It's lovely!
Thank you! 😊
Are you single?
Lol! That's very forward of you! No, I am not. But I appreciate you asking.
@@isaacpriorart haha
Love this! Beautiful piece and fear has followed me all my life. I’m getting back into art forms after many years away. There is just not enough time in the day! And someday, I will look fear square in the face and slay him and be free. Piano performance anxiety.
Veramente splendido.❤
Che meraviglia!!!!😮❤
wauw looks very cool and clean.. nice! 👌
Thank you!😊
This is fantastic! Thank you
Awwww! thank you!
Love the movement!! Thanks for sharing. New sub.
Thanks for being here! Hope you enjoy the content. Im honored you enjoy my work
Would love some more in-depth about your art -maybe split them into 5 per video?
That's a great idea! I can make that happen for sure! I'll add that suggestion to my list of content to create.
Wow!! Loved this video! Congratulations to you. Just fabulous work! Seeing all this pics in one space is amazing! And the wood floor is beautiful too!❤🎉
Thank you! Seeing all my work in one spot is an amazing feeling, makes me feel like a real professional artist! Lol!
Hey Issac loved watching this process, and I agree in the end I think you met your goal! These types of lines are my favorite but I often mess them up. As the saying goes..practice makes perfect. Oh- I loved the god you started out with. Gold is a fave of mine. Have a blessed day. Thanks for sharing!❤🎉
Thank you! Practice is the key to mastery, for sure! Gold can be such a lovely accent to a lot of pieces! Im honored you enjoyed the process
Great work, brother!
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous piece of art. Thanks for sharing the process. 🥰
Thank you! I am so happy you appreciate it!
Hello Mr. Isaac Prior, I came across your videos 3 months ago and I absolutely love what you do. It looks so relaxing to me and I really love how your designs turn out in the end. My question for you is how did you get a start in doing this because I would really love to do this but I am really scared to death to try this because I can’t draw lines like that and I don’t fully understand completely how to do the lines like you do in your videos. Do you have any advice for me I am a completely new beginner to this.
This is an amazing comment! Ive added it to my list of content to create. The short answer is, everyone does this style a little different, and experimenting is the best way to step into it. And its ok to be nervous about trying it, ink can be unforgiving and so very final. I'll list a few other artist that Ive found that use the style in their own way. Everyone has a different approach and expresses them as an individual. instagram.com/mindfluids?igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== instagram.com/christarijn?igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== instagram.com/blueshard.art?igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== instagram.com/mollysmommakesart?igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== instagram.com/just_lines_by_j?igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== Ill work on coming up with the starting steps of how to create abstract line art. Thank you so much for asking this question!
@@isaacpriorart Wow thankyou so much for taking the time to respond back to me. I went to all the links you sent to me and thankyou very much for that. I am now following all of them. I can't wait to see your next video but it's hard for me to catch you live so I watch all your videos later which is cool with me. Thankyou again.
Hi, can you tell me what kind of pens you use it? Thanks
I use a few different brands, but I have really been enjoying Molotow Blackliner pens: a.co/d/duZ2ImL I did a review on three different brands a while ago, here is the link to that video: th-cam.com/video/OAizueaUhCE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=320JDvhHFPsXy7v5 I hope this helps! Thank you so much for asking.
Thank you !! Beautiful!!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my work
This is an incredible piece! Thank you for sharing!

Aww sweet little lady ❤❤❤
She is adorable, but a monster! lol!
@@isaacpriorart aren't they all though lol ... And you have to love them lol
Aww he looked so very tired lol ... And love the art too lol
The bags under his eyes are precious! Lol! Thank you!
The kitties are all the sweetest lol .. ❤❤❤
They are very sweet. They take turns sitting in the cat beds I have in my studio. I need more perches for them to all be in here with me.
Awesome ... Love it
Thank you!
Sweet boy ❤❤❤
Yeah he is. Big chonky, lover boy.
That's crazy lol ... Love that you got all your beautiful art in a gallery ... You deserve this ❤
Thank you! I totally agree! I have been wanting to see it all up in an art gallery for years, I am so grateful for this opportunity.
@@isaacpriorart I wish I could see it in person ... I bet it's even better up close and personal
This helped me so much I’ve been really struggling how to do this . Sometimes I got it and it works and in the same piece I can mess it up multiple times and then get it again so then I’m never satisfied.
I'm honored that I can help you! Isn't creating art an interesting ride?! Sometimes you love it, then you hate it, then its taxing, and then its beautiful. All part of the creating experience, and feeling all that is good. All that helps me understand what I do like, and dont enjoy, but it can all be used to give depth to pieces. Thank you for sharing, I hope you keep practicing.
Grazie al disegno, ho superato una lunga convalescenza. Questo modo di fare arte è meraviglioso, il lavoro finito sembrano due drappi di seta che fluttuano nel vento.❤
Congratulations ... This is incredible ... You're awesome and definitely be proud to show off your work ... Love this for you ❤❤❤
Thank you! It was incredible! I hope to have more solo galleries in the future. I appreciate your kind words so much, thank you!
@@isaacpriorart aww you are oh so welcome ... I absolutely love your style and you are just wonderful to listen to ... Just love listening to your calm voice while you create ... You are just awesome all around (and have to love your guest appearances🐈, almost in every video lol) ... I just find you calming to my heart ... Thank you for always replying to my often times odd comments lol 🙃
@@isaacpriorart and more solo galleries would be so very awesome
Hello Mr.Isaac Prior . Your piece of art is incredible! Watching you draw makes me feel so relax . I really love your style. You seem so at ease when drawing. Thank you so much for this beautiful moment and see you on your next tutorial. I wish you and your cat a great day
Thank you! It makes me so happy to know that my drawings can bring you relaxation! Creating these pieces is a way that I can reflect, and process my life. I am very calm and at peace while creating. I will pass your wishes onto my cats (I have four of them)! They will appreciate it
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about what you are trying to achieve with your art as well as the techniques and stylistic artistic choices you’re making. I’m experimenting with adding line art to my art pieces (drawing and watercolor) based on your tutorials. I had to chuckle, though, because my “fear” colors and “happy” colors are just the opposite of yours!
Thank you! It makes me so happy to know you are using my work to inspire some creativity! Watercolor and abstract line art can complement each other so well! I'm glad you are experimenting with it. Lol! I was curious if that would be the case! I know we are all a little different and one persons happy colors are another's scary ones. Its good that you can still appreciate it even though its flip flopped

Thank you! Im honored you enjoy my work
Hi, what's the number of the pen you're using most often, and in what case you're using "slimer or thicker"? Sorry for the naive questions, but I'm curious as I haven't seen such art before. Thanks.
Not a naive question! Thats an amazing inquiry! For this piece I was using a .5mm pen tip, as that is what the brand makes for their colored pens in. For other pieces my most commonly used pen tip sizes are .3mm and .2mm, and a close third would be a .1mm tip. I use these pens a lot and they have a good variety of tip sizes: a.co/d/ali5pFU Hope that helps and thank you so much for the question!
Do you have links and recommendations for pens with dark black solid lines? I mostly work with mixed media (acrylic paint, watercolor, and calligraphy inks). I would love to see a product review video. Thank you in advance for your time and advice.
Yes I do! I have been using these for a while and I really enjoy them Molotow Blackliner water-based black pens: www.jerrysartarama.com/molotow-blackliner-pens I use a lot of different brands of pens, and Molotow has some fun options. They have paint markers, fine point pens, and metallic markers as well. Ive done a review on three brands that I like. I would love to find a pen that does everything that I want, but Im not sure it exists. The closest thing I've found is Toms Studio, Lumos refillable pen. Its just very expensive. Ill add a link to my pen review, as well to Tom's Studio pen: th-cam.com/video/OAizueaUhCE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=320JDvhHFPsXy7v5 tomsstudio.com/products/lumos
Love the finished piece. My first response that came to my mind was "whoa....!" That has such a nice ethereal feel to it with the smoke floating back and forth. Thank you for sharing. :)
Awwww! Thank you! Ethereal is such a good descriptive word for it! I am so happy you enjoy the finished piece
Wow
Thanks! It was a lot of work to get it all packed up, but totally worth it.
Cute
Isn't he! Adorable
Great job! Incredible!
Thanks a lot!
I love this! How do you keep your hands so steady and the lines so even?
Thank you! I have a few tricks to keeping my hand steady, but it does come down to practice. I did make a tutorial about arm movements, here is a link to that video: th-cam.com/video/kVfJkZnYfyg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Wn2p0UIRU2SNnVsJ I added hand and arm movements to my list of content to create. I can do an even deeper explanation of hand techniques. Thank you for the suggestion!
Looks amazing. Will this be another exhibition piece? Oh…. I was in TH-cam jail when you showed your current exhibit. Wow. They really put it together nicely. No double it’ll all sell. Putting that on the when I win the lotto list.
Thank you! This piece sold maybe two years ago, but it would def have been up on display in the current exhibit. They did put it up so well! I was extremely happy with their choices for locations of pieces. I would love for it all to sell, that would boost my content and creative works a lot!
Really interesting. I wonder if you can use acrylic gouache and layer it in dimensional lie artwork… hmm…
That sounds like a really fun experiment! I'm sure the outcome would be an interesting one!
KITTIES!!!! Ok now I’m a lil bit jealous. Our beast doesn’t flop over like that giving you access to their bellies. Unless she’s all kinds of horny. Her tail goes up, she rubs her head on you then flops over for whatever attention she can get. So glad we don’t loose it like that when we get going. lol
Thank you so much for this very helpful tutorial, Isaac! You're the best 😀
You are very welcome! And thank YOU! Without people like you enjoying and watching my content I wouldnt go very far. It means a lot, thank you.
Congratulations, it's a fantastic accomplishment! I'm proud for you and thanks for sharing.
