Demonstrating welding technique
มุมมอง 1.3K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Welding technique used to create lead vents for roofing. Fusing the metal with an Oxy-Acetylene torch. Lead is an excellent material for roof vents as its durability means a lead roof vent will likely last with very little maintenance for many years. #leadworx #leadwelding #welding #roofing #sustainability #heritage #art #satisfying

Beautiful work 💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Beautiful 😍
You make that look so easy anyone who has tried it will soon see how much practice it takes to get that good.
Thank you, Lots of practice thats for sure.
Brazing
No its welding not brazing. :)
There’s always one person that seems to comment that this is brazing but with clearly no knowledge of the subject. This is welding! Welding involves melting two or more parts together using enough heat to melt the base metals. Brazing is a process in which metals are joined by melting a filler metal into the joint and can also be used to join dissimilar metals.
welding at (common) soldering temperatures, awsome to think about it
Different materials have different melting points therefore require different techniques and skills to work with. Common misconception online seems to be that that welding is only ever done with steel and aluminium it.
This looks like soldering. How's the penetration?
Hi. Its welding not soldering. The lead is penetrating.
@@Leadworx00 What kind of welding is it
@@MrMikeT89 oxy- acetylene welding
@@Leadworx00 I'm curious what the benefits are for oxy acetylene vs stick or mig welding
@@MrMikeT89 you cant weld it with those methods.
Soldering not welding
No. It's welding.
Brazing
@@bereal7266 it's welding not brazing and not soldering.
Is that in real time or edited at all?

Poetry in motion 👌
Lead wielding emmm, pool, fed move, by the way, it’s called lead burning
Lovely work, can you do a video on equipment and how to set up flame,
This is so satisfying
Brazing.
Welding technically
First 🎉
Please tell me how to install the gas on the welding machine to weld the iron sheet with lead. My machine is Edon digital & smart inverter welder pro mmc 250.
Can u do with propan cylinder?
Beautiful. Love them all.
Thanks, check these ones out instagram.com/p/Cf4P3-BI8Mk/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Is that punched lead you use for the grill, good work 👍
Thank you. Yes we use hand punches and cutters for lots of things and have these on a range of our vents www.leadworx.com/product-category/lead-vents/
Is good for aluminum?
Savage work
I have something identical to weld as this what’s the best tip for the with oxy/cet
It depends a little on how good you are but I would suggest 3 or a 2 if you want a little more control 🤔
@@Leadworx00 thanks for that I have been using a 3 but wasn’t sure if I needed to go up to 4 being code 5 and incline
😢
You make that look so easy ! I just blow holes in the vertical sheet …
Been in the trade 30 years in Scotland where it’s done proper and can tell u now this is weak as fuck do not follow this
What code lead is it in this video? I imagine this would be difficult using code four. I really struggle with code four lead and will occasionally burn through, especially on corner details. I tend not to even attempt welding anything less than code 5. Do you think I’m at a disadvantage by always using a No.2 nozzle. Would I find it easier with a No.3 nozzle with less heat? I’ve always struggled with my welding and im in awe at your skill. Great videos.
Sorry for the delay, its code 4 lead. Visit www.leadworx.com for more information.
Lovely tidy welding in all of your videos. I’ve been at it for quite a few years albeit not everyday and still find it very challenging. I find it particularly difficult with a welding rod. And have to manoeuvre whatever I’m welding so I’m welding onto a flat surface at all times. You can imagine how difficult that makes it.
Lead burning not welding
Lead burning is a form of welding :)
Can i say steel burning not welding too? It’s the same thing from what you said though🤷♂️
You're not burning it, you're melting it. And to weld steel, you do what? Melt it together 🤓
To weld is to join two types of metal/objects together
It is soldering!
Bit of filler material on that top bead would of helped make sure there wasn't any weak material for when you get stress over time otherwise looks good
always one, nothing a matter with this.
I used to melt lead in the fire and play with it when I was 10-14 years old. Super cool metal because of the low melting point!
What’s the best type of lead welding kit to Buy as I’m A first timer and want to start learning this
Can you do this with one of those yellow blow torch that the plumber uses
Horizontal welding 👈🏽
Beautiful!👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Lead is bad
Naughty lead. bad periodic table! :)
Lead is amazing
My 120 year old house disagrees
What is the fuel and which tip do you prefer for vertical?
Oxy acetylene and its a number 3 tip
What are some common uses for welding/brazing lead?
It’s been a long time but I think I did number 3 but would have loved to have been able to do number 4
What settings are on the valves? Could you do a in detail one with the set up please 🙏
Just looked... Oxygen is 1 bar and acetylene is 0.5.
@@Leadworx00 thankyou your leadwork is awesome just brought a lead welder myself will you do some videos on technique please?
Where is the lead?
It's the material being welded
@@johnny1980ns well it won't be a right good weld there won't be any Penetration without any filler rod!
Have you got your screen turned on?
@@benclarkson4205 sorry having a blond moment! Still a shit weld!
He's using the overhang as the filler rod
Please, make me know about the stick/wire spec
Like the way you leave the stick on the lead, I got to try that 1.
Have you tried oxy propane yet ?
Nice,
How long have you been doing this?
At least 2 year's 😂
Number 2 tip for angles or verticals?
the hospital where I worked, had sheet lead on the walls, the floor and the ceiling, to stop the X-rays travelling through the building.
I learnt lead burning back in the early 70's, at the Brixton school of building, just make sure there is no air gaps, or it drops through, and scrape the sheet lead with a shave hook to remove the oxidised surface on the sheet lead, before you start, unless it's nice clean like yours, were you using oxy- acetylene with a " BOC model O " torch, nice bit of work, do you do a demo' of vertical lead burning ?
I've always used hydrogen
👍
great video of technique. Do you have a video about torch tip and settings? I'm new to lead welding, and torch use. thank you!
