Well again Medellin is a dangerous city and foreigners don't understand that !!, Colombia will never change until the Colombians will made better salaries and maintain the prices for rent , buy a property and eating in restaurant's affordable to them !! , and also is alot of discrimination with the social status , like 1,2, abd 3 and the high ones 4,5 and 6 , this is a major problem in Colombia ; this changes are because the gringos that earn dollars and expend pesos , this of course is the window to increase the prices in Medellin and Colombia !, Colombias should be more smart if they keep the prices low , they will get more clients and the economy will be also better for the paisas and Colombians , becsuse the salarues are to kow and with the increase in prices , will kill the economy , the problem with the safety on the streets from Medellin will be there until the economy for the Colombians cgange , but this is difficult because the corruption from politicians , government and many other issues there !!, so living in Colombia is never going to be safe for foreigners and even paisas !!, you can't use your cell at night time in the streets , also in a day time when you walk and forget a Rolex in your arm !!!; for that reason , many foreigners are not coming back to Colombia , you never will be there safe !!!the country is beatiful , majority if Colombians are nice and friendly and educated !!; but I won't risk my life in a country with no securiry at all and crime all over and also with alot of corruption from authorities to ! ; this is my opinion and experience !! , so learn and listen and never back to Medellin , this country needs alot of changes and this will take many years , it is a shame !! I've been to colombia and this what I do: I rent 2 apartments. Find a cheap apt and put your passport, credit cards, laptop, and your normal phone in that apt. Always have a 2nd phone. You can buy a phone on backmarket for 100 dollars or less. Never carry credit cards. I only carry cash and a visa gift card It seems like a lot but that works. If she sees you have nothing, what's the point of drugging and robbing you if there is nothing to steal. A lot of times Colombia is so stressful. I can't dress the way I want to, I can't wear my watches and chains, and being aware of your surroundings because somebody is plotting.
