Did you use the factory lower control arm? Just changed out the upper arm? Same spindles?

I put my car in park while at the jack n the box drive thru waiting for my food. When I was ready to go I went to shift and I had no gears 😂 I almost had a heart attack thinking my transmission blew up or something. Google was no help. I was stuck in the drive thru blocking the restaurant and the workers were trying to push my car out but it was in park, it wasn’t going to budge. The space was too tight for a tow truck and I’m the only mechanic I know. I checked the trans fluid it was low and I added fluid as needed and tried shifting again but nothing. I pretty much gave up and sat in my car waiting for sweet death. On second thought thinking about new transmission shop costs and tow trucks I popped the hood again hoping for the best. I followed the shift cable all the way to the trans and there sitting on top was the linkage disconnected and no bushing to be found. I popped it back on the transmission jumped in the car it shifted and I got outta there! When I got home I bought the Dorman piece but if its not going to last then I might as well try it your way. I tried holding the wheel back while trying to turn the needle wheel. And it WONT turn. at all.

I am so thankful for this video. I have a Singer 4411 that I could not troubleshoot. I was angry & frustrated. So much so that I researched the cost of a new machine. Before committing to purchasing a new Singer I took it in to my local shop. Without even looking at it I was quoted a repair price that was only $20 less than a new 4411! Angry does not even begin to describe my outrage at this guys audacity. He didn't want to fix it, just wanted me to buy one of his overpriced machines. So I bought a new machine, but not from him! I upgraded to the 4452 and was very happy. However it still bugged me that my 4411 was sitting in my closet not fixed. Then it happened. My 4452 got bound up during a very heavy duty project. 😢 This time I searched TH-cam & found your video. Hallelujah!! I fixed my 4452 & my 4411. Not sorry I upgraded, but I'm thrilled I was able to fix my 4411 myself! Your video has now saved me several times THANK YOU!!!

I had the doors shutting with the tip of my finger before but now I was back to slamming the hell out of it. I had no idea what to do. I kept adjusting the door striker, hoping that would help. Literally a new machine. Day of opening box, set everything up, and run maybe 10 inches of a very nice line. Switch to a zigzag to overlap an edge to keep it from fraying, and set the thing back to where it was in the first place, and now it's missing stitches, then a whole line. This looks exactly like my problem, thank you for posting and I am very hopeful it fixes my issue. Going to run upstairs and try now. Thanks again.

Aargh, I KNOW this is the answer to my problem, but I can't figure out how to tweak it the way you did with a screwdriver. It seems like my outside silver circle opening is much farther away from where it's supposed to be than yours was. I don't want to push too hard with my screwdriver and bust this brand new machine. I need to make a Christmas present tonight and I'm so frustrated.

Do you heat, let it cool, then shut the door? Or heat, shut right after?

Great video. I used a grade8 1/4 bolt. I didnt have to drill holes at all and worked great. Did have to grind down the head on the bolt.
