Lighting faces the RIGHT way!
มุมมอง 25916 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
There are so many situations where we need to light the face, but honestly, I’m not a fan of the classic ‘TH-cam’ lighting setup with a softbox and that predictable Rembrandt triangle. So, I decided to take it upon myself to explore different setups and approaches using @ZhiyunTechGlobal Cinepeer CX100 and Fiveray M20C. In this video, I try out a variety of creative techniques to light faces in...
Lighting spaces: the most CINEMATIC way to light!

I show how to light a space and position subjects within it using just two lights: the @ZhiyunTechGlobal Cinepeer CX100 and the Fiveray M20C. I cover key steps to keep in mind and experiment with two different scenes to show how simple setups can still deliver cinematic results. And ZHIYUN's Black Friday promotion runs from November 18th to December 31st. Hope you enjoy! I love you! M20C: Amazo...

How to audio like a PRO
มุมมอง 14028 วันที่ผ่านมา
Let’s dive into my very 'serious' audio setup. I get asked about my audio all the time, so here’s how I use the Rode VideoMic Go II and HyperX Quadcast (no ‘expert’ tricks required). Fair warning: it's more about the basics, and I might wander a bit... but hey, you’ll learn something and maybe even have a laugh. Let me know what you think of this unscripted experiment! Learned to test from the best!
loved the video! really helpfull but whenever I try to check the zebras on my camera display I can't see them, not at 72% or at 103% it doesn´t matter the lighting I have I cannot see them, any advice??
I too have the same issue for the past two weeks! I don’t know what’s wrong but I also read a couple more comments that has the issue 🤷
@@augustarda playing around with the camera I realized that the zebra display turns off every time I move some settings, so in my case I just needed to turn it on every time I shoot!! hope this helps :D
I feel like you should’ve tried to flag the background like you almost did. It would have added a little bit more contrast. Maybe…
Totally agree! Next time :)
Are the intro and outro scenes shot on tamron @ 17mm? barrel distortion looks pretty cool.
Yea but I also use the wide angle adapter:) I talked about it a couple of videos ago!

a tip for everyone, just use dehancer. its easy and looks great, that's the secret.
Could you do an specific video for how to get some looks like yours 8 bit ZVe-10, even for Dehancer or Cineprint?
Yeah sure! Here are two videos where i've done that :) th-cam.com/video/x4tO90FfR2Q/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/4747zAZyc08/w-d-xo.html
@ Thanks for all coments answers!!! Love your content! Should do something about the guitar, liked that too, how do you connect on computer and uses the app for the amp ?
I use Scarlett 2i2 as my interface :)
@@augustarda And the amp software that you used? Do you record covers or something? If so, what software do you use?
@felipegrau105 I use bias fx2 as my amp sim, can recommend it it’s really nice. I don’t record anything though, it’s mostly for me, truly as a hobby.
I'm just curious if your CST is from slog to cineon or slog to rec709? Are the all adjustments being made in rec709 or another color space?
CST is from rec709 slog2 to arri logc3 and wide gamut 3, so we are building th look in arri space, instead of rec709.
What is the difference with the Cineprint 16 V2 ? Is the Cineprint 35 capable of doing everything the Cineprint 16 V2 can do ? Thanks :)
Cineprint16 was emulating 16mm film in general and CinePrint35 is emulating certain film stocks for one. And 35mm film and 16mm film differ quite a lot, so the difference is basically that. They are both emulating different styles of film. Cineprint35's node tree is far easier to handle, and personally I like the 35 better, but not because 16 was bad, it's just that I like color s of 35mm better. Especially 160T in cineprint35.
I'm more interested in how you got your audio this puchy and good! This looks really good! Amazed at the quality you are getting with this APSC 8 bit camera. What picture profile do you shoot in?
Thanks so much! I’m using the camera in slog2 with itu709 color profile
@@augustarda Good to know! Can you say a bit about your color grading workflow?
This is the workflow for cineprint35, but if you’re asking in general; always correct first and then grade. I also have a video coming out this Wednesday on how to grade with a very simple approach!
@@augustarda looking forward to it! when are you coming out with this? best regards from Brazil. Awesome job! Amazed by the colors and composition.
It's the last video published video on my channel :)
pretty sure they used a Zeiss planar instead of a helios. which is essentially the same thing
why arri CST when you shot on sony? plz answer, my b just wanna know asap!
CinePrint35 comes with those settings.
Yes, your lens has a problem... it shouldn't look that hazy... if it can't be cleaned, you can use it as is for its unique look, but maybe get another one in the future that is more clean (which will probably cost a bit more). I have a 44.3 and it's from the Belomo factory, which has a much better reputation than the more common Valdai factory... the ones from the KMZ factory (like yours) are also pretty good quality.
Definitely going to get another one!
Great video, you inspire me a lot and make me feel that my zve10 can do great things too
Thanks so much for that! You can do it too, trust yourself :)
Can you show how you edited the photo at 5:38? i'm curious about the process!
Thanks :) I made a video a while ago and I show you the same process there (it’s a preset) but in that video I show you a couple more ways to achieve a similar look. And in the coming weeks there will be another video about photo editing, I’ll make sure to include this one in there too! th-cam.com/video/3TShoheDaEQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NFeYPzptJZud_Zdv
@@augustarda top, can't wait! <3
Hello :) one question, how do you make the font glow/vintage effect of: 1:24 ; its seems kinda like blurry , how do you achieve that effect in text?
I make it a compound clip in with a black background in davinci, and then use Dehancer to get film like effects like blur and halation etc :)
@@augustarda Thank you so much! 🥰
Great video. Definitely gets saved for inspiration / recreation. I want to get started in filmmaking. The idea I have for the first shot would be to set the light in the fridge vertical and put some grid on it so only the face gets the strong lighting effect and not spilling in the background as much to achieve deeper contrast. Not sure if this could work.
Go for it dude! You can’t know if u don’t try it, it could definitely work :)
@@augustarda Thnak you. What's the power settings you used for most of the shots? I would really like having 30W for outdoor but 800g might be bit too much for travelling. And most other light tubes only go up to 8W.
It was always around 70%-100% power. But you should check the website again for weight. What kind of outside shots did u have in mind?
@@augustarda Either for vlogging during sunset or evening and as an additional light source when doing city street photography or light painting to add some color into the shots. I might go for a LED panel but those dont have very good diffusion and can't double as a visible prop/background light. I want to keep it down to 3 lights so for now I ordered a inkee cb30 battery powered bi color cob light that is waterproof perfect for outdoor but obviously not RGB color. I fear that the cheaper tube lights dont make any difference at all if you shoot with any ambient light.
@sgtparadox seen some people do light painting with this and it looked really cool. I don’t personally do that stuff so I cannot talk about that. for sunset or evening stuff I don’t know like if this could be super helpful for those situations because it’s still a 30 W light and I don’t know if it could really fit into those situations. but please do let me know if it’s a good vlogging light. I would really love to know :)
❤
Man for a second there I thought I’ll get bummed out by your way of talking (super chill/all over the place/inconsistent/abrupt) but ended up listening to the whole thing without skipping once. Was like listening to a friend that maybe has a scattered mind but still knows his stuff! Subbed! ❤
Thanks man :) I appreciate it!!
DUDEE i didnt know my cam can shoot like this! thks!!
Thanks so much :)
This is super important: Which ISO range did you film these shots with and which aperture?
Always 2.8 and iso different between shots, but I also say which iso in every shot. I believe the range is between 1600-5000
what a beautiful clips 😍😍😍😍
the light from your window during blue hour is crazy!
Thanks! Not even direct light, and wb in camera helps a lot :)
What picture profile and settings bro?
SLog2 paired with ITU709
What nd filter do you use?
K&F 1-11 stops vnd, although it’s unfortunately not neutral, it warms the image up about 500 kelvin

UPDATE: th-cam.com/video/gCW4K-FXTnU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=U84pintSHoOYqHnF
Which font you used in this video
All Futura PT :)
@@augustarda thnx man btw love the video keep going 👏
do you over-expose the image?
Yes, I try to. The outside shots were iso 500 with an ND filter, to the point where it was nearly clipping
@@augustarda I wonder if you could've gotten away with not over-exposing since you're adding grain in post, and the shots (esp. outdoor) are pretty bright too. That would've helped you keep the extra dynamic range, wdyt?
@davemorphling7432 for the inside shots, totally agree. As far as the outside shots go, I actually should’ve pushed up iso more since it has more information in the highlights in higher iso, and ND’d it down a little more, I believe
@@augustarda I hear ya, not sure if that's applicable to 8-bit though. Nice idea for a comparison test though.
oh yeah, as soon as I get a 10bit capable camera, you know this test is coming!
i also did that to my zv e10 last month.. you wanna see it?
sure :)
