Welcome to my little piece of the internet. I'm combining a few of my passions here... anime, film, and psychology! As the argumentative one, I typically try to justify hot takes. I will also analyze character developments, plot decisions, and much more!

i can relate to Todoroki actually… i hate relating to him but its true i have a very VERY strict mom i can’t even drink too many water… but i was never like Dabi but i still can’t forgive her no matter what she does it’s not gonna erase what she did to me… when i was a kid i couldn’t cry i couldn’t be a normal kid i had to always get high grades because of my mom’s high expectations i just really can’t forgive her after all of the suffering she put me into… i even harmed myself several times because of her… i don’t know how to identify toxic relationships and always got myself into it and get harmed again and again, i trusted wrong people and isolated myself from them because i always thought that people would be just like her, well, i grow up with cats and whenever i was feeling bad i always occurred to them and then few minutes i was feeling good again, but i don’t think that i was ever feeling good… this thing on my chest it hurts but im used to it well sometimes it gets bigger and it hurts more like i were having an heart attack well everyone knows from my family that i have anxiety and thats all i still have to go to the psychiatrist for a decent report of my mental condition, well im having problems with stress and its hurting myself…
What kills me is that Touya was always a failure. Like, the whole point of the marriage was because Enji wanted to get around the limits of his quirk. So this kid comes out, and has no ice but *hotter* flames, and he somehow sees that as a success? That his kid will likely have the same limitations, *but worse*? From the beginning he was set up to fail
I relate to Dabi. A son that “felt” discarded, or at least a father that didn’t have time but it was probably my undiagnosed ADHD pinning for attention for shit that never mattered
Dabi also represents how fragile human minds can be and how far they can go to reach its goal.
i also think there was some level of pressure on him to keep up the act of the spoiled brat because if the mask slipped his family would be killed. genuinely having a child responsible for their parents safety in that way must have absolutely destroyed him emotionally and probably led to the persona he had in the whole series.
Let’s be real the only main villain who is actually evil and not traumatised, abused, broken or all of the above is AFO who is just a scumbag
I would also like to point out the extremely severe ramifications extensive burn injuries have on the psych, especially when you’re as disfigured as he is- not to mention his obvious homelessness, and having been in a coma during pivotal stages of brain development. Touya clearly has brain damage and exhibits signs of age dysphoria and regression during the battle, and even childish behaviors he exhibited as a kid. The series even goes out of its way to point out that when he woke up at 16 on the cusp of 17, he still perceived himself to be 13. I think one of the reasons he makes such insane choices is that developmentally his brain is trapped at a stage where he is functioning with the hardware of a traumatized child with Borderline Personality Disorder. He did not have the capacity to think rationally as a child, and I do not think anything he experienced during his adult life would have helped with that, especially if cognitively he is experiencing mood swings from his disfigurement and is cognitively several hears behind where he should be.
Your videos are awesome for character analysis. Wonder why the views and comments are so few🧐 Good luck for the screenplay writing 🤞
That’s a good explanation video . I agree with you for your own story. Many kids are forced to learn piano, violin, oil painting or other skills which can get extra scores when applying to high schools in Taiwan. As result, they tend to have good skills from the years of training but hate the skill so much. Some even hate their parents because they couldn’t have time to find what they really want.
well done will on your masters and videos will
the fact that he just kept calling Aoyama a brat was hilarious
You voice & explanation are in point.
Congrats on pursuing your masters. 🎉
Wanted to make an analysis on this really quick... another on the way!
thanks will i love your videos
In a sense Dabi/Toya Todoroki is Similar to Tai lung from Kung Fu Panda. Both were molded to from greatness but both characters hit their road block in live that turned them into what they had become.
the difference is dabi had it far worse tho, dabi also got mentally abused, not just rejected, and look at what he became, a serial killer, tai lung wasn't a serial killer as far as I believe, he was just someone who would do anything to become the dragon warrior
Something which I feel like so many people in the fandom miss is that Dabi doesn’t simply “refuse to move on” instead of looking towards the future. He physically can’t. He’s been through such a horrific amount of continuous trauma that not only is his mind absolutely obliterated, but his entire body is just a permanent reminder of every bit of hurt and pain he ever felt, everything he went through and it’s so destroyed that there’s nothing he can ever do to change it. Any time he has and ever will look at any part of himself, that’s all he’ll ever be able to see or feel.
Ecclesiastes 5 verse 2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
dabi's actions of killing people should never be justified although how he became the way he is sad and tragic though...
Didn't even notice that yesterday was my last upload... LAST YEAR! Anyways, I'm currently looking at how I want to edit this and will be testing out other editors until I find my/our footing. Bear with me. Thanks for the support over the past year. More characters coming soon (I actually mean it this time, I already have the next 2 characters cooking up!)
yoo bro i done thought this was some guy with 100k+ subs cause the production is quite nice, you're doing really good one improvement would be making a more creative video/titles like "The downfall of *insert random anime* or how this Anime changed my aspect at life, just make it dramatic "deep dive into" maybe even a timeline. Anyways Good shit👍
Alot of people think that because Dabi wasnt physically abused like shoto he was never abused and is just some spoiled kid who didnt get what he wanted. What they seem to miss is that from the moment he got his quirk, endevour groomed him to become the No.1 hero, that was literally the only reason why he was born. For Dabis entire childhood he was told that he was gonna follow in his fathers footsteps and become No.1. When they discovered what Dabis quirk was doing to him, endevour sort of abandoned him. Imagine what that did to Dabi, who was originally loved by his father only to be basically abandoned because he didnt live up to his expectations. That would fuck anyone up.
dude, this stuff is so underrated. amazing work !!
the first time i watch the show, i thought he was empty character which is bad written. Then mankaga gave him the best backstory and motivation in the series.
I empathise with both Touya and Tenko, I’ve been through abuse and been neglected emotionally like Touya but I’ve also been left with no hero to save me like Tenko. I’ve been told my best wasn’t enough and told who I am isn’t what my parents wanted me to be. Even after all of this, a small ember of a happier me burns within me and I’m able to show kindness to those that don’t know my pain and don’t hurt me like I’ve been scared before. I still want to do prevent others suffering like I have but I also have this hidden inferno of hatred for those that wronged me and got away with it. I’m complicated to even myself and I do apologise this became more about me than about how I empathise with the top two villains. In a way, I want the world to know what burnt and disfigured me but never broke my spirit. Not yet and I doubt it will fully
His psychology is that he is crazy and he needs to go down Even when he was a kid endeavor TRIED to stop him for his own good and and didn't listen and and thought himself superior to everyone, specially his mother He was long gone before his first flame turned blue
Let's do an psychological analysis on Shigaraki, Sincerely, Will.
Nice
Please do a mikey vid
If only Taiju get a hug from his father like Mitsuya from his mother, i guess his heart would soften a bit. But Taiju only have God, and God couldn't really 'voice' their answer to him, even if he cried. Guess this is why i could never hate Taiju
He didn't know how to show love. It was sad because they all needed a hug.
I can understand dabi being the eldest son. But his hate towards is father is unreasonable and but it doesn't justify his hate towards his father and family.
He is not neglected. He was stubborn to be a hero. No matter what is parents did.
He is completely neglected by endeavour Toya kept asking to him to look at him but enji just kept pushing the blame on Rei
@@akhandtripathipyz9888 nope he is not. Toya asked him to look at him on how he burned his body. He didn't want to encourage Toya so he ignored Toya when it came to hero matter. He did it for his own good. And he left it to rei because he didn't want to fuel his desire to be a hero. Stop writing shit.
@@sampatkalyan3103 Holy shit, you’ve got reading comprehension skills in the negatives.
Toya mother is not oppressed.
Toya's mother is abused till she goes mentally insane how hard are you going to ride endeavour bro that you push aside all the abuse
@@akhandtripathipyz9888 She was not abused she was depressed. can you explain how she was abused. you are fucking insane. if one becomes insane it is not only because she/he is abused she could not handle the pressure. Endeavour didn't abuse her.
Eiji did nothing wrong.
'Griffith did nothing wrong'
I was shocked when I saw the low number of likes and subscribers. You are WAY too underrated, it's ridiculous
You are nice 😊
I love Dabi. When I read the manga and saw him at the revelation of his true identity it make me really sad and anxious. I relate at some trauma. I love him and I hate the thing that the manga treat Endeavor at a victim. He's a violent man. He destroy his own family. His kids can all attempt to suicide because of him. And he can feel bad. He can be sad. It's all his fault. If a parents have a problem it's they jobs to protect they kids. I don't said that the parents can be ill. This man deserve to be punish. He's not a hero. Never. You can't be a hero if you're such a egoistic dumbass. I'm sorry but it's not because someone cry that he's not a dangerous person. The message is "you can change" and for me it's more "you can destroy your kids, you can punch them, torture them it's not important because they forgive you because you're a parent" It's really, really horrible. It's good for the violent parents. But it's just tell at the kids that their feelings and traumas are not important in comparaison at the image of a perfect family. Maybe I'm too much invested. But Endeavor deserve to suffer
Agreed and it's really frustrating to see how many people simply stamp him off as a child that was born an evil psychopath and that no one else had influenced him at all when that couldn't be farther from the truth.
@@Kalakeiko There's many people who influenced and destroyed him. I can unterstand why people don't like him because kill people is not really a good thing. But the caracter is really interesting
@leonaanard Agreed. He's one of my favourite characters due to how complex and interesting he is and I do understand the people that hate or dislike him for the things he's said and done, but saying that he was just born evil and would have turned into a villain no matter what and that Endeavour or anyone else has done nothing wrong or influenced Dabi/Toya in any way is completely wrong.
@@Kalakeiko Oh my. There's people who said that? They have read the manga or watch the anime? The anime with the dialogue and maybe subtitles. People aren't born evil. It's like tell that we are kind because we're born like that.
@leonaanard Yeah, a lot of them and they all either read the manga or watched the anime or both and it's sad. According to them, Dabi/Toya has no reason to act the way he does because he wasn't "abused enough" or suffered that much in their eyes compared to other characters and his family cares about him, so therefore he must have been evil from the start and is more evil than even All For One or the doctor and a lot of people often blame him for destroying the Todoroki family and being the cause of their downfall :/
Damn ya dad and OC was tryna turn you into Derrick Henry
Na son endeavor is deadass grimey. Granted dabi shouldn’t have turned into a super villian but u can fully understand why he turned out evil
The final arc he's having a full on mental breakdown, he wants to heal, but like he told Toga, they have come too far to stop, he is finally getting to put on full display to Endeavor his worth, and value, as set by Endeavor with Shoto. He is finally getting what he wanted, but it's not enough, his validation that he needed was outletted to following a philosophy of hate, but hate is not fulfilling. No matter how much of his issues he burns away, the ashes that remain will not fill the hole in his heart. It is often said that the thing that heals the shadow masculine, is the presence of Gold feminine, and Dabi more than anything needed to let go of his emotions towards Endeavor, his endeavors are what's burning him. This is a boy who burned out his own tear ducts crying, and kept crying tears of blood. He can't move on from that fire of resentment, and he's burning everything around him. Perhaps he's trying to burn away Endeavor's doubt, at least his pride in Shoto, to burn away any excuse his father had for not having faith in him.
where are the vids man
This is definitely useful for me. I'm making a character that is similar to Dabi and while the story is different. This is good to know.
Taiju is an asshole, yh it is true that a reason for his behavior was to toughen Hakkai up and make him man up but how come when Hakkai finally did man up, Taiju responded by trying to kill him, he got angry at his brothers strength saying he had no choice but to kill him
Yes he wanted Hakai to toughen up. But he wanted to Hakai to toughen up and be with him. Not to toughen up against him.
@@justdavid.-.5868 Yea. Taiju genuinely wants to live with Hakkai forever, he never ever stop the idea that Hakkai is his brother, no matter what happens between them. In the future too when Hakkai died he still care abt Hakkai. I'd say Taiju is definitely not nice, but he's responsible indeed.
@Xodileen_bell1234 He went church everyday.
@@TheKillakrip Everyday is crazy level of devoted 😅 but it's Taiju so im not surprised
@Xodileen_bell1234 When Yuzuha talked to him at the end of season 2, I saw a once of regret. Then when he helped Takemichi in season 3, I actually began to understand him.
This is by far the best video on Dabi's psyche. I don't know how you don't have like 500k subs.
Let me stop you right here. What this is is a reason for his actions. Not a justification. A reason is simply a cause, the answer to "why did this happen?". Dabi's reasons are really well-written and make perfect sense in the context of psychology. But a justification is not a reason. It is far more. A justification doesn't necessarily explain why something happened but why it was the right thing, why it was, in fact, justified. Dabi's actions are completely impossible to justify, considering how he takes revenge on his family and the broader society. If all he did is release evidence of Endeavor's abusive behavior, he would be 100% justified. And wouldn't be a villain at all. What makes him unjustifiable despite the compelling reasons for it are his methods, his obvious disregard to innocent lives, multiple murders, mutilation (Overhaul's arm, Hawks' entire back), attempted mass murder and literal terrorism (yes, fits the definition to the t, all of the LOV and the Meta Liberation Army do). Trauma doesn't pre-destin one to commit atrocities. There are many characters who have suffered even worse than Dabi has and have never stooped to his level, both in and out of MHA.
Endeavor created both his created greatest desire and 3 broken children
cringe
