The beautiful pink and green necklace at 3:30... Absolutely gorgeous! It is indeed acrylic but it is not true Lucite. I once heard someone say "ALL Lucite is Acrylic but not all Acrylic is Lucite" very true statement. Lucite is just about the highest quality acrylic one can come by. Typically one will never see true Lucite with holes made in it for threading, instead you will see the wiring or threading encased inside of the piece and no seams! The no seams rule is how I have avoided costly mistakes out in the wild when hunting for my collections. Lucite jewelry will not have visible mold lines.

I must say this was a great info video! At the start I thought oh this is for beginners, I already know all of this but there were some tidbits I did NOT know. I am glad I stuck around and I recommend to anyone interested in older "pretties" to pay attention and enjoy it! Some of these pieces are absolutely gorgeous! ❤

Well technically, a modern lobster clasp only tells you the age of the lobster clasp. It tells you less about the piece it is attached to. . . which may be vintage enen if an after added clasp is modern..

I just found an old silver cigarette case just yesterday! I've sold a couple items but I'm trying to learn more so I can make sure I'm charging the right prices. I'm gonna see if I can't get this book.

My local jeweller said he replaces old clasps with lobster clasps for $10. He has done as many as 10 necklaces for one person. He said the average person is astute and can recognise the beads and style in a vintage piece.

How do you take into account that the clasp on most vintage necklaces have become weak and need replacing??
