Vladimir Feltsman Plays and conducts
I cried as 10 yr old boy seeing feltsman live in pittsburgh... with food poisoning. I'll never forget it!
The contribute of a great world level pianist to the classical music is uncountable!!!!! Thanks Vladimir Feltsman.
Аристократизм исполнительский высочайший, Вова!!! Спасибо за удовольствие.
BRAVOOOO!!!
Since I discovered him, some years ago, one of my favourites piano player... ever!
素晴らしい
So much of this rides right over Beethoven's dynamic markings...
Completely butchered the 2nd movement of the Pathetique. Way too fast and without feeling.
WOW!!! @rigel48 and @AndreyRubtsovRU are absolutely right - when Feltsman enters with those famous chords (00:54) his tempo is MUCH, MUCH faster than that of the orchestra which comes in at 00:43. Apparently the same thing happened with another Russian pianist, Vladimir Horowitz, at his NY debut in the third movement of the same piece, but again, Horowitz prevailed as the conductor/orchestra took his faster tempo. (This is according to Abram Chasins' book, "Speaking of Pianists.") Jarring I agree, but the soloist should be able to determine the tempo in my view, especially a piece this soloistic.
Many, many thanks. What colors. What splendor. Beethoven must have heard this when he wrote the music. Mr Feltsman, you make everybody happy and feel envigorated again for life ahead. Greetings from Amsterdam. 😊
His directness belies a generosity of care for these students. He has made each one sound so much more interesting, and I am sure they have learned a wealth of information. What a passionate teacher and consummate musician.
I agree. Feltsman is a true master and honestly, I can't understand why many people dislike his teaching style.
Common humans are not really morons, are we?
Took my father to see Vladimir to AJ Thomas Akron Ohio hall covering Pictures at an exhibition. 1997 I believe. Unbelievable .
1246- and 1846- are my favorites
Feltsman has a lovely tone and sense of nuance❤ I was too quick to judge. Even so, I recommend listening to the interpretations of other fine artists.
He DOES warm up! I spoke hastily. Mea culpa.
Mr. Feltsman is a genuis with the romantics! Not so, with the Baroque excepting a few movements.
What's wrong with this guy?
@bonusbull I'm curious. Are you "saying," there's nothing objectionable about his performance or wondering why he's not doing better? Thanks. Also, make it a great day, regardless!
I see you like Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto! Have you heard David Oistrakh's spectacular performance with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra? Here's the link. th-cam.com/video/gJ6g7FKfqZI/w-d-xo.html
@@messrtwinky i mean excessive ornamentation
I think some of these comments are too precious about Bach. I expect there was a fair bit of extemporisation in Bachs playing and ge probably played about with tempos of pieces he wrote. Not all set in stone
Maybe the best rendition of these pieces I have ever heard.
No one plays pathetique like him, not only the best, but also inspirational
The best performances of Schumann works on youtube! Also love the Op. 9 performance, which it not on your channel. Thanks for uploading!

A truly amazing performance; Feltsman is a wonderful pianist. Beautiful sound, and his interpretation is convincing and intelligent.
Изумительное точное попадание в стиль, убедительно и просто
Very natural tone and dynamics. Pure mastery.
When was this recorded?
Spontaneity may be quite rare in today's piano playing, but some of the lavish rubatos in the Fantasy are more representative of Schumann's monument to a crackhouse maybe, than Beethoven :))
genius! this is the finest performance on record!
Seriously? What others have you heard? Badura-Skoda? Demus? Gould? Richter?
El ,Pianista se despide, da las gracias al público, saluda al Director y al Primer Violín; Gran ceremonia!!!
sounds like a machine.
Amazing.
Remember Mr. Feltsman from a long time ago when he played in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Rachmaninoff's third pianoconcerto under the baton of conductor Maris Jansons. And that was a stunning performance! Now after many years I hear him again in this Haydn Sonata. A very personal and beautiful rendition of this joyful sonata. Thanks for uploading this recording.🎹🙏
Why doesn't Feltsman include Feinberg among the top Russian composers influenced by Scriabin?
He did on his cd
WONDERFUL thank you. X
I like his interpretation of this Sonata
Excelente
Never realised Haydn was a Scarlatti fan. He plays it with great panache and colouring.
I can play the whole Pathetique, but man, totally different quality from that of Mr. Feltsman. He has all the technique to play with all sorts of colors and characters. It is really a real inspiration!
Great interpretation and performance of this work!!! Bravo!!

Awesome playing ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
So, there must be an interesting story behind one camera, but decent sound. Feltsman is a performer who knows his craft and bends it to suit himself. He is marvelous, having first seen/heard at Stockton State College, now university, in the 80s or 90s he continues to be one of my favorites.

sad status especially concerning S Protopopov , i believe he died in a labour camp , crazy Russia , is not even mentioned in Russian encyclopedias : shame !, great homage to true pioneers , superb !!
th-cam.com/video/d48X6BWhptM/w-d-xo.html
Too strident and careless at beginning. So cavalier in his approach to a great work of Bach. The Allemande continues the travesty in a sloppiness of spirit. Surprised at this poor showing.

yeah, need to keep going and get into it
@@davidmoran5431'morning! Who needs to "keep going and get into it?" Do I, or are you saying that is what Feltsman is doing?
@@davidmoran5431 Have you listened to the Badura-Skoda recording? (I left the link previously.) Easy to listen.👍
@@messrtwinky I was pointing out that it greatly improves after the opening issues. imo. I will relisten to PBS, yes, thanks. I was recently surprised that Levit occasionally lacks rhythmic strength. He is not rhythmically inept like Schiff, but I expected better, given his Beethoven strength.
For the Beethoven, he plays around with the tempo way too much - in my opinion...
Way too much rubato right at the outset.
Vladimir, thank You so much.
