I was working on a 2011 Honda pilot today and the PCV valve broke off. I just wanted to make a quick video to show how I got it out.

2016 Nissan Murano - grab assist handle clip installation
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I was working on a 2016 Nissan Murano today and I had to drop the headliner today. Upon trying to reinstall the grab handles I had trouble getting the clips that hold them back on. I found no info online so I made a quick video to hopefully help someone else out.
Passenger Side PTU Front Axle Seal Replacement on 2009 Taurus X AWD
มุมมอง 57K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I was doing this job and couldn't find hardly any info on how to do it so I decided to make a video. It shows all my ramblings and stumblings trying to get this job done. You can learn from my mistakes and hopefully do the job easier faster and better than I did. This was on a 2009 Ford Taurus X AWD but probably applies to other AWD models from Ford. Link to the post that helped me figure this ...
2007 Mercedes E350 Belt Tensioner - Wrong Part??
มุมมอง 13K6 ปีที่แล้ว
I recently replaced a serpentine belt tensioner on this Mercedes E350 and had thought that I had the wrong part out of the box. The clock position on the new tensioner and the old one seemed different. When I put the new one on the belt was not tight. After some research I found that there is a small locking pin on the new tensioner that needs to be removed after install. I figured I would do a...
2007 Mercedes E350 4-Matic Rear Wheel Bearing Tips
มุมมอง 29K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Here are some tips I wanted to share from when I replaced the rear wheel bearings on a 2007 Mercedes E350 last week. Its not an end to end tutorial, there is some other info out on the internet and on you-tube regarding the e-brake and pressing a bearing in and out. I just wanted to hopefully help someone else out who does this job and maybe make sure they have the right tools to make the job e...

Toyota 2.4l harmonic balancer removal
มุมมอง 28K9 ปีที่แล้ว
I made this short video to show how I improvised a tool to pull off the harmonic balancer (dampener) on a 2002 Toyota Camry with a 2.4L 2AZ-FE engine. The factory service information specifies tool number SST 09950-40011. It seems from the service info that the american built toyotas have this pulley and the japanese pulley has normal threaded holes for pulling and removal.
Thx
Thanks dude, this was the hardest part of replacing the rear sunshade😂
Cool!! Guess what I'm doing
Thanks
Thank you...I'm a Diy gal. 😊 works for me 02 toyota camry le 2.4 4 cylinder...
A pair of needle nose and done! That easy!
I am working on a 2006 saturn vue and this is an amazing idea
Thank you, Sir Very much
Thank you for this video, it was extremely helpful
Should the dust cover be able to spin after it is installed? I had a shop do mine and the dust cover doesn't seem to be seated tight enough. When the unit is cold it spins free
I remember it spinning freely. That could change when it's hot.
Fantastic advice guys, it worked for me, thanks
Do you know where I can find those Clips? I have the grab bar handle but I loose the clips
I don't know. You'd have to call the dealership.
Thank you! I used at 7/16ths tap but I only got part of it off on my 2011 Honda Odyssey. The 7/16th worked for the rest of it so maybe start with a half inch tap instead. Or maybe I didn't go deep enough. However, I am just ecstatic that I got it out and I don't have to have it towed to the shop. I was so upset I don't even know where the top part with the screw and collar went but I had already purchased new ones so I was good to go. Awesome, thanks!
Yes sir!
F Honda and pcv manufacturer for this stupid situation
Yup. Back in my small block chevy days, this was a one minute job. On my 2010 Odyssey the value broke into several pieces trying to remove it. Had to use long tweezers and a long needle nose to fish out all the broken plastic. I felt like a surgeon!
Thank you! Extremely helpful
Hi ! ^^ I'd like to replace the clip. Do you happen to know the part number?
Sorry, no. You would need to call a dealership.
@@techwrightauto^^ ok..Thanks you..
I accidently pushed it all the way in now the clip is inside the roof 😢 is there anyway to get it out?
Nevermind, I was able to get it out with a small magnet and a wire 😁 phew!
Me too! Is there anyway it would have dropped into the side pillars? Or is it inside the the roof😭
I still haven’t found mine or any replacements online
hey working on a 2008 ford taurus x and i dont think you took out the actual seal but you helped me with the shield
Thanks for this great detailed video!! The 7/16 -14 Tap it fit perfectly and once screwed in it gripped the stuck PCV to get out my broken PCV valve..I used a vice grip and tapped on it acting like a slide hammer it worked perfectly to carefully back out the broken PCV, also gently tapped with a round ball point hammer on aluminum housing above were the PCV is located to cause some vibration to loosen up that bond that is holding in the stuck PCV, Thanks again this video saved the day !!
Thanks for the video. I tried the repair today on my Ford Edge, but when I pulled the shaft out of the PTU, transmission fluid poured out and wouldn't stop so I put the axle back in. Did you have to drain the transmission first, or do I have another bad seal on the other side of the PTU?
I don't remember how much fluid came out when I did it. It is pretty normal to have transmission fluid come out when you pull a shaft out on a transmission.
@@techwrightauto Okay. Thanks!
MB, You saved my day. I had this happen on my 2010 Acura MDX. The oil and burn-off just held the PVC in there. The Tap worked great. Thanks for the great tip.
Thanks for sharing
Tip for removing the 'black disc' (dust cover): Use a seal puller. You will probably break the plastic tabs inside it but it's not going to damage anything else.
You’re a life saver. Thank you
Mine broke into pieces needed new valve cover, the cover came with the pcv valve already installed.
Just saved my day, same thing just happened on my 10th gen civic
at 9:50 is that whtite platic piece supposed to be able to rotate freely with everything including the axle still attached? Mine I can rotate with my hands and I'm not sure if its supposed to be like that. Im wondering because I have visible moisture about 4 inches out where my axle connects into and I don't know if I gotta replace the axle or just this seal?
I remember it spinning freely. I'm not sure where you're getting moisture. Is it past the seal? Normally with a seal like this you wouldn't get moisture inside you would get oil leaking outside.
Can you please show/tell me how to remove the handle in the first place please, I need to know asap, thanks so much
It's been a while but I think you just take a plastic trim tool or some kind of plastic pry bar and get underneath that plastic cap and slide it up. Once you get the cap off the handle will come out.
Queria ver usando a ferramenta amarela que vem no kit de retentores Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I found a big lag screw that I could twist into the plastic. Freaked me out having that break off in there!
How do you take out out the bolts next to the Harmonic Balancer to take out the Belts ? I had a 2001 Toyota Camry 2.2 Liter . I tried taking them bolts out to loosen the bolts but it looks like I have to take more bolts more than two ? I loosen one bolts already .But how many bolts should take out to loosen the belts .?.
You saved my ass I just but a bolt puller thinking that would work but went to use it and saw I had no where to screw the bolts in.
WHAT WAS THE YELLOW TOOL FOR
It protects the seal when you slide the shaft in
I just used some needle nose pliers and pulled it out with a flat head wedging it out. POS valve
What size seal driver did you use for dust shield
Not sure, it's been awhile but it was from the seal driver set they sell at Harbor Freight.
Mercedes could have made this so much easier by having a bolt on bolt off hub. that fits the splined joint and contains the bearing, this is such a bad design and we have to rely on garages for specialist tools, a good video thank you.
You should have just left the vehicle alone your doing work totally backwards.
Any idea what the clips are called? I've done the inevitable and lost the clip in the body of the car!
Not sure. You'll probably have to go-to the dealership and look at the parts drawings with them
Same thing happened to me any luck?
Michael, thank you, you saved my day! I wrestled with this for about 30 mins before coming here, then got it done in 10. Damn, what a stupid design! When you push on the handle the clip wants to go back in the body and get lost, almost 3x that happened. but it's all done now. I got my memorial day weekend back! you rock for posting this.
Hey what if you don’t put the dust cover back on ? A Macanic said I really didn’t need it back on after seal replacement and I still have oil leak worst than before ?
I’m sure you need it. Mine spins and I’m sure that’s what’s causing my leak. I work at jiffy lube and have seen that Explorers with the dust cover that doesn’t move don’t have leaks
THANK YOU !!!!!!! ✌️✌️✌️✌️
This was super helpful, thank you!!!
Seriously sad how super sensitive this troubled world has become to a point where you have to apologize , explain, and say I'm sorry when your recording videos or whatever only trying to help others. And also that a person would even take the time to criticize another when I'm sure their human as well! 🤔😳🙁
Has this exact probloe going on plus love to fabricate make things work, so thanks a lot bro 👍🏽💪🏽🙏🏽
In order to remove the axle I think I see it right - you didn't have to disconnect the low ball joint at all. How did you do that? I thought you have to disconnect that low ball joint first and pull on the wheel hub and THEN have enough room to remove the axle from the wheel hub.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I disconnected the ball joint. I didn't include all those details because I hadn't planned on making a video until things got so crazy with the job.
When you put a new balancer back on, does it stay in place when you torque the center bolt down or did you devise something to hold the balancer from spinning?
Just happened on a friends 2009 Pilot. Unfortunately the 7/16 tap only got the first half. Ended up having to heat up a coat hanger glowing red and shoving it through the plastic end that was stuck and letting it cool. Once cold/hardened, I yanked the broken piece out. Yeesh.
Thank you I just had this happen on a Acura TL and this is a big help
Damaged plastic dust cover can cause transmission oil leakage 🤔
That’s what happened to me. Idk if I caused it thou because I tried seeing if it would spin and it did. Two weeks later I noticed it was leaking:/
@@Arturo-im1nh Hello Arturo, the white cover that rotates is only a dust cover that protects the seal from dust, the cause is inside that dust cover, you have to remove the cv arrow and right there at the bottom is the seal that controls the transmission oil , that's the problem, I bought white plastic thinking that it was the seal and it wasn't, it's just the cover, the seal is at the bottom, and in my case mine was already broken, regards!
