Make sure to disconnect the oxygen sensor as well after the muffler. In my case, I replaced all the coil packs, spark plugs, and fuel pump, but the problem was with the oxygen sensor, the one after the muffler. So, I ordered two new ones, and it worked fine. However, a mechanic gave me a tip to disconnect one of the oxygen sensors and see how the car runs for a day. After that, the car ran perfectly.
@@rhaqbani thx but there's no oxygen sensor after the muffler.... Do you mean the downstream O2 sensor (below the catalytic converter)??
Ok. I got it to work. I had to press the button on the mirror once every 2 seconds (about 5 times!) while my door opener was in "Learn Mode". Hope this helps others. Cheers.
@@ochar4633 sorry I missed your question... Yeah if you have a rolling code garage door opener, it's a bit more annoying to setup
One thing I did notice however, when you pull into your garage and shut the engine off, you cannot use the homelink mirror to close the garage door! Shutting the engine off cuts the power to everything in the vehicle except for the windows which retain functionality for about 1 minute.
@@ochar4633 yep, noticed that too. Kinda annoying 😞
Well..😂.... I've tried everything you mention here as well as in the manual even went as far as going to the opener and press the "learn button" ...and.... nothing works. Ok I get the flashing green light but the programming is not complete. The manual says it needs to be "Solid green" to operate the door. Any ideas??
Those look the same as the Chevy Volt modules, just different lengths.
@@murraymadness4674 yep, same cells, bigger modules
Thanks
@@CharlesGrigg66 no probs!
If you want an easier time get a Duralast Battery 151R 340 151R-DL, or something of the same size, this one is at Autozone. It is the exact same size and almost matches the power requirements with a 3 year warranty, it just doesn't have the battery clip. I tightened my clip bracket back in and the battery doesn't move side to side or back and forth. I then just used a strap to tighten it down. No need to cut or do anything else.
@@RodneyTracy-BOSTeacher I wanted a higher capacity battery... But yeah, that works too
We love our 2015 Spark EV. Now after 70k miles it has lost about 20 to 25% of its original range. Seeing your batteries out of the car removes some of the mystery. I wonder, could they be replaced with off-the-shelf LiFePo4 batteries?
@@MrTeff999 possibly... But the battery management system would have to be completely reprogrammed.
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!

Fantastic video! I can't believe how well you explained everything you did to the point I could actually understand the process despite never seeing the inside of a locking diff before. I hope I never have to see the inside of mine! Why did you use lithium grease instead of just the regular gear oil? Just because you can't add the oil until it's all closed up and you didn't want dry metal on metal while rebuilding?
@@b.g.tercero2351 thx man! I figured it would help the first few turns of the gears before the oil got everywhere. It probably wasn't necessary.
Is the Chevy spark ev batteries water-cooled?
@@Mechanix360 yep!
@ I'm looking at buying a 14' year spark with 65k miles. How long can these batteries go? Can I push them to past 150k?
@@Mechanix360 😬 That's hard to say... Current EVs, yeah no problem. But the Chevy spark EV unfortunately didn't have the most reliable battery. However, they're cheap and the battery is pretty easy to fix.
Hyundai has a major known issue with ambient lighting failure on multiple models (google it). The option under lighting drops out for no reason. They should take a proactive approach on this. These options are paid for and not available. Surely a simple coding fix. The reset button and latest nav update do not fix. 🤬

@@TheObsidianWatchmen the two big advantages is the hubs don't unlock every time you roll back a bit, and if you disconnect the hubs, you'll actually see slightly better economy. For me, it was beneficial as I had a front mechanical locker, so when the hubs were unlocked, it was easier to turn sharp corners.

@@mpirron1 sounds about right.... Where's your experience from?
@@edsgarage2.0 10 years repurposing batteries for power walls and off grid solar backup in RVs, etc.andb for the last 3 years I have been fixing Chevy Volts
@@mpirron1 noice!
I would sepsarate cells tabs from the copper using a bench-sharpened 3.5 inch putty knife, the compression is quite important puffy cells will eventually compromise and expose themselves to the air, you should not uncompress the cells unless necessary,
ultrasonic friction welded
your buck convertor is the least efficient component of your set up and its underpowered you may look at getting a higher quality component maybe, and watch the temperatures. Now you just need some panels and a solar charge controller.
@@mpirron1 yeah I don't actually use the 12v or USB ports much, but you're right it's a pretty cheap buck converter. I've actually been looking for a good step up converter so I can charge from my truck while driving. I'll also probably opt for an MPPT solar controller and charge that way as well
you should research the controller and motor to make sure they can handle the increased voltage, but even if they are not rated for 60v, they usually are under-rated by the manufacturer by about 20% (no Electrical Engineer wants to be responsible for a scooter starting on fire due to physics, that's best left to the battery and that spooky chemistry stuff) At any rate you should also monitor the temperature with the bms, and make sure it is withing the cell's published specs. The battery pack was designed to be liquid cooled and you've got no cooling at all on your repurposed pack.
you should keep the compression close to what it was before, the cells will puff up considerably and prematurely destroy themselves. And solder is not a good solution here. In this type of application the cells are typically friction welded, a physical connection is probably gonna be necessary unless you have a access to a laser welder.
@@mpirron1 I'm drawing significantly less current than what the cells are capable of, so I think it'll be ok. It has been great so far anyway. Also, I wasn't soldering to the battery tabs, only to the connectors I've crimped onto them. In hind sight, I'd definitely do things differently in the future if I decide to split a pack again.
You need to look up the specs of the battery and determine what the cutoff voltage is, you don't want to discharge a battery cell below cutoff voltage.
@@mpirron1 already done. 😊

bro, I know this was so long ago, but wondering if you can tell me if you had to do anything with timing or programing or anything in this spectrum? I have a 1994 Rodeo that I am going to tackle next weekend with same issue, and everything is the same as this. Ill keep looking to see if that is a needed step though, I just hit you up first.
No.. there's no manually timing or programming required... But you do need to reinstall the timing belt, so best to replace it in the meantime. And of course, that means lining everything up properly so that is timed correctly. Also... I'm sorry, but I have no idea what happened to my part 4 of the series 😢
Perfect video, thank you 100%
@@YHVHYeshua thx for the comment!
Cleaning and dressing the rubber seal around the sunroof panel itself will keep most of the water from ever getting into the drain lines. My '06 H3 sits out in the weather year round, and no matter how hard or how long it rains, barely enough water gets in the drain gutter to wet my finger tips. In under a half hour you can remove the sunroof panel, clean and dress the seal - and the mating surface and reinstall the panel. Much easier than spending half a day removing all the trim to clean out the drain lines...
@@mark.gallaher3193 while I agree that's great maintenance to perform, my video isn't about cleaning out the drains... This video shows you how to completely re-engineer how the drains work so that you never ever need to clean them ever again. And no matter how much water gets through the seal, it's not going into the cabin after this fix.
@@edsgarage2.0 I get it. I mainly wanted to point that out as a good starting point. A lot of people never give that part any thought. The way I see it is that the less water gets in, the less debris in the drain lines. But you are correct in that it wasn't the most brilliant design from the get-go.
@@mark.gallaher3193 absolutely

Thank you so much for this video! 5 cells in my Spark's battery are out of balance, your work has me confident that if GM won't fix it I still have a shot. If you have 5 cells you'd be willing to sell me I'd be quite interested.
@@trevorjacobson9928 5 individual cells? Or 5 entire modules?
@edsgarage2.0 I was hoping for just 5 cells. But turns out my battery is under warranty! Getting the whole pack swapped for free.
@@trevorjacobson9928 Awesome!
Hello dear I’m from Egypt, and my Chevy Spark 2015 EV failed and 2 modules need to be replaced, Pls advise
@@adelsadek2113 find someone that's capable of battery repairs. You can find the modules on eBay. Or consider buying a salvage Chevy spark EV from an auto wrecker. Swap the battery from a wrecked vehicle.
Its not a BMS, in a car its called a BECM because it doesn't do anything with out a vehicle computer module . At 3.0VDC that cell might be below the published cutoff voltage specification, a charger will not charge a cell below cutoff voltage and the the cell is generally consider damaged and its chemistry is no longer viable.
@@mpirron1 yep, that cell proved to be the definite failure point. As it was the end cell of the pack, it was adhered using adhesive tape to the pack end cap. So rather then risk tearing it open, I ended up using it for the scooter pack that I built... That was a mistake. It ended up causing me to be stranded a few kilometers from home with that cell prematurely dying. So I pulled the pack apart, and VERY VERY carefully peeled that cell off of the end cap over the course of about two hours using plastic pry tools. Ever at the ready to throw it out the window should I inadvertently tear it open. But I managed to get it done. Replaced it with one of the good cells, and now the scooter battery pack is extremely healthy ☺️
@@edsgarage2.0 you can always tell if you damage a cell and expose it to air by the smell. The potassium hydroxide electrolyte has an unmistakable smell. It's actually very difficult to cause the Li-ion to start on fire. You can throw them in a fire and they won't start on fire. The worst thing you can ever do for a battery cell is overcharge it tho, close second is expose it to water.
@@mpirron1 Well.... I still wouldn't wanna chance it lol
My spark had a fatal error gm canada didnt want to touch 2 weeks ago. Your videos are so good! Very informative , very accurate! It gave me the confidence to drop that badboy out the car open it up and recharge lower voltage cell. I rebalance everything and my car is back to life!!! Lets hope for a long time! If you have some of those cell you won't use, im interested as i think it could help strech the lifespan of this wonderful car. Good work !
