CSEC Lecture Series is a TH-cam channel that offers short and educational videos in order to deliver quality information from the CSEC Syllabus. These videos are made to be great study tools for examinations and simple learning.
Indentured Servants in the Caribbean- CSEC History
Indentured Servants/ Indentured Labourers
Once the abolition of slavery came into effect, planters, that is, former slave owners, no longer had the benefit of free labour. As such, they had to seek alternatives to maintain the production of the valuable crop.
The solution was indentured servants.
Indentured servants were brought from other countries with the promise of better opportunities and way of life. This system offered low wages for their labour for a specified time frame, which could be extended once the contract period ended.
It must be noted that these indentured servants were viewed as people with human rights. The indenture system began in 1837 and it was abolished in 1920.

Are these topics still being used by cxc or has it changed some area in the exam. Like accounting, there have been topics that are obsolete and one should not study. Asking so that I know what topics to study.
Hello! It is best to be guided by the current syllabus by the examiner. Kindly check their website to be informed.
One reason slavery was abolished was that machines such as the tractor were more viable and cheaper than human labour. The heartless slave traders wouldn't have accepted the abolition just because of humanitarian reasons and protests. After the so-called abolition of slave trade, it took other forms and dimensions such as colonialism, neo-colonialism, trade injustices to less developed countries endowed with natural resources, unsuitable educational curricula prescribed for colonies, etc.

Good work but I think you forgot Ergonomics
Thank you. Ergonomics is certainly an important aspect of office orientation, but it was a definite plan to not include it in this video. We might look into doing a video for solely that concept.

Labour laws. It is very important to gain information on the rights that employees have, such as the number of sick days, vacation days and maternity leave that the law requires. Salary and deductions. Having a working knowledge on the Texas and deductions that will be deducted from the salary ,as well as how it is to be calculated ensures that we do not get exploited. Work environment Factors on ergonomics and the breaks which the law a ill prevent employees from being overworked in awful work environment.
