Fletchers Fishing
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 ก.ค. 2019
How's it going, my name is Fletcher Arrastia and I'm a part-time fisho in Sydney Australia, pretty isolated to the northern beaches. Juggling Uni, work and life and try to provide some fishing footage that I get to encounter and share with you guys. Since it's fishing in Sydney and I don't have a boat won't be too much footage but well see how it goes. I love to target all species of fish (not really bream) in all different types of environments. I mainly fish lures but sometimes you gotta work with what's working which sometimes is bait. If you like it you like it and if you don't you don't. Hopefully I'll be able to produce some quality and frequent content.
I'll see you out on the water

Just an ordinary day out fishing with my mate Will, nothing too special, just catching yakkas and using them as live bait to catch some kingys out the heads.

BIG Whiting on Surface lure: Fishing Bobbin head flats

Decided to follow up on a previous conquest to try and target some larger whiting on Surface. Had to fish from a different system I wasn't familiar with but worked out well by beating my PB whiting twice in the same session. I hope yous enjoy

MASSIVE FLATTY caught in Manly. 6lb gear
มุมมอง 2.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Was actually trying to target some squid in the shallows to hopefully have a go at some kings. This big flathead had other plans. Proved extremely tricky to land a big flathead on 6lb line without a net or grips. I hope yous all enjoy and leave a like if you did. Flathead fishing using bladed vibes in Narrabeen lagoon
Good video and I love your persistence. Well deserved. Col Buckley
You caught the only fish in that river
Awesome 👌 good current flowing through there. Thanks for the video
What baits are best if you not using lures please?
What’s your retrieve technique on the prawn? Twitch or slow roll? Pauses?
hey mate, how deep is the water? also is the sand hard to walk in? I'm going there soon and just checkin if its safe!
can you eat fish from there?
Absolutely not, I would strongly recommend that you do not eat from manly lagoon. There’s signs everywhere and I’m pretty sure it’s regarded as one of the most heavily polluted systems in Sydney, if not Australia. There’s run off from 3 golf courses, couple of ovals and some from industrial brookvale
Queenscliff lagoon is the states 2nd most polluted waterway, first is Curl Curl lagoon. Both great wins for the Northern Beaches community !!!
100% mate. Sometimes what we consider the most dangerous/polluted environments can often act like a haven for wildlife. Look at Chernobyl, it’s now acting as a sanctuary for wildlife. Just goes to show how detrimental we as humans are to our natural environment
Nice vid. Have you fished there again recently?
Nah I haven’t been there in ages, I just recently moved out of the northern beaches closer towards the hawskbury, plenty more wild populations of bass out here
I’m still pretty average at walking the dog. I can skip cast, fly fish, pitch, roll etc. But this technique is just stupid nothing I am crap at. Any tips? Cheers
I’m not sure if I can offer any tips other than what some other instructional yt videos can provide. I think it must just take some practise. However I’ve noticed walking the dog action can be harder or easier depending on the lure. The more bent (banana shaped) the lure is the easier it tends to walk the dog. Lures like the sugapenn are harder to walk the dog on, but that’s part of the design, because you have the option of having a more subtle action vs a very wide sway. A more subtle action is better when imitating shrimp/prawns, or working in a heavily fished area
I worry that you’re standing in chest deep murky water with a dead bleeding fish in your pocket and that waterway is connected to the sea.
Yeah probably not the smartest idea I’ve had and definitely do not want to lead by example. I know for a fact that bull sharks are in that area so you’re definitely right
Daiwa Infeet Kodachi slay in that place. If you fish plastics, and that is your best option in winter, use a black two inch grub, get a gold Colorado blade and turn it into a jig spin.
Bet, sounds like a perfect winter set up. I’ve found in winter you gotta really play it slow and patiently, but in summer you can pretty much do whatever you want. My go to is always surface action of any kind
You’re meant to grb them by the mouth.
What the kayak you use and where can I buy one please ?
I’m pretty sure in that video I had a kayaks2fish nextgen 11 at the time. However I really wouldn’t recommend it because I had a fair few problems with it. Ideally hobie kayak are the best but they’re pretty bloody pricey. I’d recommend the kayaks2fish nextgen 10.5, pedal king 12, the nextgen 10 mkii, or the nextgen 10 depending on ya budget
I wouldn’t fish in Narrabeen Lakes because of the chemical buildup. I saw a guy pull a female Mudcrab out of Manly Lagoon and he planned to eat it. I wouldn’t touch it.
Up to you, you’re right about the chemical buildup, and there’s a term for that called bioaccumulation. It’s up to you, there are no warnings about eating fish from narrabeen, however there are signs at manly lagoon everywhere. I’ve never had any problems eating fish out of there, but who knows I’m still young and the effects could occur much later down the track
Manly lagoon is legit a open sewer all the shit from Brookvale industrial estate gets dumped in it
Couldn’t agree more. It’s disgusting and the council should really do more to try and restore it. Although some run off from Brookvale drains into manly lagoon, most of Brookvales industrial run off actually drains into curl curl lagoon, hense why curl curl lagoon is considered more polluted than manly lagoon.
Hi you prob wont see this bit on the other side if that bridge yesterday I hooked onto a monster flathead on pilchards!!!
was this summer
Indeed it was summer. I’ve never had any luck with whiting any other time of year, nov, dec, Jan and Feb are the only months that have seemed to work for me
Do you work at anaconda belrose?
I used to, I worked there for 5 years and have moved on to work in a more ecology based career that supports my degree
That carp would of taken a interest in ya lure. ;) they pull hard.
what rig you use
Honestly not the best rig but it worked just fine, it was literally just 3m of leader connected via a fg knot. I would recommend using a better rig like a typical live bait rig with a down rigger, but if you don’t have one a poor man’s down rigger should work just fine too
can you please post again
Unfortunately I’ve left yt behind for now. I’ve moved out of the northern beaches and am focusing my time and effort into my uni education and my career. Potentially in the future if I have more time I’ll try get back into it. Filming is easy, editing 6-10 hours of footage can be pretty bloody hard
the ones who don't commit are probably bream. so you need to twitch and pause and they probably will commit
U seem like local ,, u give me confidence,,
👍
Nice flatskull mate . I estimate about 60 cms from the footage . 👍✔🎣
Can you share this exact location mate if you can Cheers
You should be able to see the narrabeen bridge in the background of the video, this spot I don’t really keep a secret because most locals know it very well. It’s also in front of the Narrabeen caravan park
love ya man watched all of ya vids and there epic keep up the good work
What lure did you use to catch the flathead and whiting, please tell me I’m a newbie fishing and I want to catch some fish
sugapen HF119
Jigs, bait rigs ?? Info would be usefull
Honestly in this vid it was literally just a yakka on a hook. 3m of leader line, fg knot and a size 5/0 hook. I’d recommend using something better suited like a proper live bait rig
What bait do you use?
It’s in the vid description. Lure: Zerek Fish Trap 65, Dry lime
Old plan b always produces on the flats
We are you fishing
We’re do you get that surface lure and earned a new sub and what one is that
We doing you get the surface lure that one
Haha I went to this exact spot today and lost my ZX40 on a first cast snag. Great video though.
Thanks mate, always heartbreaking loosing a zx
Great for the fishes eye
Nice work! Which Oceans Legacy Focal was that?
Nice video. Redfin shouldn't really be re released after you catch them. It's up to you but they are an introduced pest species. Cheers.
Yeah I totally agree, and looking back at it I definitely should have. I actually do environmental biology at uni and am planning a future with management of invasive species
@@fletchersfishing Good stuff. My boy is at Macquarie doing something similar.
What is the lure you are using? Some sort of plopper you said?
Yeah mate, a sugapenn. Details are in the description of the video
Hi bro, what is the type of your Kayak? Is it easy to transport on a sedan car?
Hey mate. In that video I had a kayaks2fish nextgen 11. However I had a lot of problems with that model kayak so I’d would really only recommend the pedal king 12 or the nextgen 10 or next-gen 10 MK2. The pedal king 12 was the hardest to put onto a sedan style car and I needed an kayak loading assistance device but the nextgen 10 is piss easy
Hope this helps
Thanks mate. I have another question. I am just a beginner. Can i move backward with mirage drive? Do you recommend mirage drive or other types?
Yeah no worries at all mate. Only very few of the ACTUAL hobie kayaks actually have the reverse drive and that’s why I gotta pay a premium for those suckers. None of the kayaks 2 fish pedal kayaks have reverse drive and the hobie compass is the cheapest model that has reverse
miss ur vids man
Hi! I’m a tourist in manly Vale and I have a question. I really love to fish but I don’t not if it is necessary a permissions for fishing in this place. Thanks
Good question mate. Just looked it up, if you’re over 18 you’ll need to get a fishing license. They’re pretty cheap and I’m pretty sure you can get them for as little as one day. Once you have that you should be able to fish any fishing permitted zones. Before I fish any new grounds that’s I’m unfamiliar with I always look for marine sanctuary zones to make sure I’m doing the right thing. In manly the only marine reserve is cabbage tree bay/Shelly beach. I hope this helps.
Hey man where is this ledge? Nice catches!!
Hey mate. I’d rather not say exactly where this ledge is. It’s on the northern beaches and it’s a pretty dangerous location to fish and to trek to. Additionally it’s one of the few ledges not many people know about and would like to try minimise pollution and overfishing. Hope you can understand, however I find that curl curl and freshwater have given me similar results
Worst bass Fishery ever all small lucky to get one in the 30s really skinny lots have fin deformities and sores not sure why.
Yeah it’s not the best but it’s my local bass impoundment. Last couple of sessions I’ve had there have been donuts
because the few massive murry cod that are in there are getting alot of the medium size ones ...i know of about 30 that were release in there at lese 20yr ago they would be huge now
hey mate where abouts is the spot and what bait are youou using
Hey mate. I’d Rather not give the exact location but it’s out the heads of Pittwater. We used live yakkas
what lures are you using
what lure r u using
Should be in the description mate
how many lures did you lose that day?
Not as many as I honestly would’ve expected. I think it was around 5-6 jigs, luckily I work at a tackle store and the discount can somewhat justify my costs.
how were they rigged? wondering how to troll cus i dont have a downrigger and it seems you dont either.
We just rigged them with a single hook I think 5/0 or 6/0. Trolling along the surface however I’ve caught much better and more fish down rigging so defs worth it
new sub legend. going there tmr
🤙🤙 cheers mate. Good luck
