I agree with you Anthony about Houston's play against the Giants. I watched the All-22-Films and he looked a lot better at SAM LB than the PFF score. On both sacks he shut the door on the right side. From his zone drop he forced Drew Locke to run to the side line. I do like him better as a situational pass rusher though, and I expect a big contribution there.

If the Lions want to cut Houston that is their right to do so . There will be several teams who would love to sign him. In two years they have not been able to find a player that fits the SAM role . They will need to draft someone. Only a stupid NFL coaching staff would cut a pass-rusher /DE because of coverage skills. I have never seen Micah Parson drop into coverage or Von Miller. Setting the edge and pass-rushing is a full time DE role. There are about 12-15 passers across the league out on IR with season ending injuries , teams are looking for good pass rushers. The Lions make simple things hard for no reason.

Why don’t the lions sign wide receivers, Michael Thomas or Hunter Renfro, both are current available free agents.
