My old youtube channel got hacked and eventually deleted. This was a channel about my Bedford van, now its a lot of guff, cars, vans other bits and bobs that grab my interest at the time. If you would like me to work for you on anything creative (youtube or irl) contact me.

I hit a snag. there is a leaking transmission cooler line, this is a common problem, the lines leak where the hard line connects to a flexible hose. I made a temporary fix but will it go the 600 mile round trip to France and back

If you are thinking about getting a van for a mowing round or general gardening business, consider a wheelchair access vehicle (one fitted with a ramp) They are often in superb condition for their with lower milage and a better service record than you'd expect on a commercial or mpv version and the bonus of the same model and age.

2017 Mercedes Vito diesel runaway
มุมมอง 1984 หลายเดือนก่อน
I came up behind this van, he had just pulled away when this happened. The guy behind me on the road was making moves like he wanted to pass, I was thinking it was best just to wait unit it ran out of oil and stalled rather than try any heroics. I helped the driver push the van off the road as there was no chance it was going anywhere apart from onto a recovery truck. A diesel runaway occurs wh...

Had a metallic black 1982 244 GLT in Canada... BRILLIANT ride, leather, sunroof, (same) alloy rims, 5 speed manual and sporty handling... with the 2.3 L FI engine and Euro headlights (rare in Canada). Had to let it go many many years ago, but longing to have it back now for the nostalgia.
its never too late to get another, theres still plenty around
Short video, all i wanted to know though. thanks
its a good car, pretty rugged too.
@mikestinyshedofdreams I ordered one, should be here tomorrow. I wanted to see a video of it on flat grass. I have a nitro from 10 years ago so kinda new to hobby. Thought i would get a RC i can practice on grass reserves, not much to crash into.
@@theaudacitychannel8478 I hope you enjoy it, much easier to use than a nitro car and I would say quicker too perhaps.

Ouch!!! You will be in my prayers, please keep us updated.
That was a video with a bummer ending......there are just not enough swear words to describe your pain......:( Hope you get it repaired......best wishes.
cheers. It has been a battle but its not over yet.
@mikestinyshedofdreams I will be watching as you battle this setback into submission....:)
Did the 5mm shorter work out?
can't remember now, its been a while.

Great video a great help
Thanks for these videos! I've already done this job, but watching you find the same problems as me was interesting. I had a cushion on top of the engine too! The supercharger is heavy all right. Did you ever find the thread on the forum "Into the valley we ride" ? It was a real help to me.
Cheers for the comments and the sub Pete! I had read the thread on the forum, the whole job was quite an ordeal and a lot to take in. I think If I had to do it again i'd find it a lot easier.
Man, you made a meal of the centre secondary bulkhead. In the book, it tells you to remove the intake duct to the throttle body, which is the big alloy bit in the middle. One worm clip around the throttle body. Then remove the two heater pipes from the bulkhead on the passenger side. That allows room for the bulkhead to twist up and out. You really need one of those remote spring hose clip tools. I guess you got there, but I was stuck just like you, and ended up breaking the plastic Y-connectors for the rear air con heater on the driver's side of the firewall.
Cheers again. yes I made a meal of it for sure. Looking back I don't know why I didn't reamove that intake duct first. It seemed to all go back together a lot easier, I think part of the issue was the insulation breaking up and hiding a lot of the starlock washers.
Hi Mike. With the manual, you can use the section numbers e.g. 18.30.92 in the search bar for the pdf. You just have to keep clicking on 'next' until you get past all the cross-references to it and reach the section itself. I then work out the start and end pages and just print that section. I feel for you, as I've done that job on the valley hoses myself!
Once again thanks for the tip! I'll remember that about the reference numbers, I've started noting down the relevant pages once I find them so I can go straight back to them again.
Looks like the fix is pretty dry......pretty cool song at the end.....a little trip in the Jag to see friends is a powerful thing.....:) Keep up the good work.
Excellent video, I really appreciate your efforts.I don't want to wish any trouble upon you, but I kind of hope you need to do a lot more work, so I can learn through you! I'm in Canada and own a normally aspirated 2005 Vanden Plas, I expect to be back here often! Cheers
Thanks for the comment! rest assured there will be more work carried out on this car soon
Wow that is just pure bad luck for that guy, I've never personally witnessed this in my life. Must be pretty rare. Glad he was ok
I have watched all three of these videos with great interest as I have been recently told by a "Jag" mechanic he would not work on XJR's because of having to remove the supercharger. I thought he was being a bit brash about it but after watching all the work you went through just to get to the last few bolts to get it off I can see why it is such an intimidating task. I must say you are a very brave soul to tackle that job, I have that same PDF manual and it is a beast to navigate in any sensible manner. I have a 2004 XJR that runs fine at the moment with only 126,000 miles on it but at some point......I'm sure there will be a time for it to come off for one reason or another. Thank you for making the video, it was very enlightening and educational for me to know what to expect should that day ever come. Don't get discouraged by the "armchair experts" out there being snooty about your methods, there are many out there and seem to have a great need to take the time to tell others how smart they are. I'm sure you have helped many more than you know with the video.
Thanks for the feedback Michael. Your words are most kind. If your car needs a new pipe you can bring it to me and I'll do it, having done it once, I'm sure I could be persuaded to do it again.
its my friends car, I think its still showing the code but runs without fault. I think it was something to do with the alternator.
Was there any particular cause?
Right color, right specs. Congrats!
Thank you for the content! Don’t worry about the sound, I dare to say it’s excellent. Even I managed to hear loud and clear your relieving fart at 9:43 😅. For sure this video will save me some time if I decide to overhaul the supercharger of my X350. Cheers from Spain 🇪🇸.
Great no problem. Thanks for the comment. It pleases me greatly that the videos I make might be of help to somebody one day.
@@mikestinyshedofdreamsIt already helped me! I like to learn in advance just in case, my XJR is already 495.000km so I will have to do it sooner than later. I watched the 2 parts. Thanks a lot for the videos.

Excellent video, thank you Mike. I am certain I would not have been able to successfully replace the heater matrix on my non-AC 940 without this. I agree with you that the large white box needs to be removed,
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad it helped
Thats a cracker. Looking forward to see how you get on.
He’s not an idiot he’s a selfish piece of shit because he knows what he’s doing.
Check the UNFUSED Battery + wires packed under the drivers side dash. They are pinched by the knee bolster. Fire hazard.
Ahh that was Kevin at the factory... He had Wanker Wednesday on the production line, he'd put a bolt in backwards to annoy one poor random mechanic 20 years in the future.
ah yes, that kevin is a lunatic
Awesome music too!

Damn. And I was so affraid of driving my 940 with its last timing belt done in 2014. Bought it on april 2023 and changed the belt last april.
Thanks Mike for this vid, these Honda drive belts area bit of a pickle to fit

I’ll be honest, I had no idea what size this was until your hand came into view to give the shocks a bounce around the 1 minute mark. It looks great!

Very nice!
That sounds lovely mate, beautiful build. Have you still got it? We acquired a 2.0cih powered cf2 last year. Bit of a rust bucket but we're getting there
yes, still got it, in dry storage for the winter, ususally get it out in the spring.
Wow never knew these had opel cih engines 😊
yeah, it ran ok but was a little weak for such a big vehicle
@@mikestinyshedofdreams and a automatic also didn’t really help. I was never really fond of these engines although in stock form they are very reliable.
This looks like a clever way to repair the resistor pack! How do you know what temperature fuse to take?
I think I read it on the Volvo Owners Club forum. 1 year on the fix is still working
@@mikestinyshedofdreams OK, thank you. I'm afraid to use one with a temperature rating that is too high, so it won't be safe. But I can't find any specs. So I think I will go with this one.
Une bonne base pour faire la nouvelle motorisation d'un véhicule ancien 👍
Héllo Mike c'est pour un futur projet ?👍

Enjoyed your engine swap series. Has the volvo conversion changed the MPGs much?
Hi, thanks for watching, the MPG has improved, mostly I suspect due to the longer top gear, .67:1 instead of 1:1. The van used to return around 17mpg on the motorway and 21 average, now its more like 21mpg on the motorway and 25 overall
@@mikestinyshedofdreams Thanks for your reply. That sounds about right for the Volvo MPGs. It seems you had to cut the transmission tunnel in the end? I'm looking for a good engine/transmission combo to swap in my CF1 but want maximum MPGs and "hope" to avoid cutting the transmission tunnel if that's even possible....Your series gave an excellent detailed insight in to what's involved. Great work !👍
@@miladyanne8411 cheers. You might get better mpgs with something 16v perhaps, Trevor Bailey @Trevsblog put a zetec in his ca but it was a lot of work and any 16 valve head is going to be wider than 8v, manual transmissions would be better on fuel too I guess.
@@mikestinyshedofdreams Thanks. Funnily enough I just finished watching trevsblog, the conversion looked more scary than yours for sure. Good point on the 16 / 8v engine size wise...It's so hard to know what would be the best way to go. As the work involved is so huge. I'll keep doing the research for the moment until the eureka moment.
