Wonderful, whimsical and brilliantly wicked!
Yes, that Pumpkinella isn't as sweet as she looks. Thanks!!

Hi! Happy to hear your update. You know I’m a lover of cemeteries as well…in my genealogy research, I have been lucky to find ancestors and I, too wonder about who people were and what their lives were like. My summer months have consisted of travel to California, France, Seattle WA, Michigan and I leave for Yellowstone on Tuesday. Going to Denver in October. 😊 My daughter got engaged so wedding planning is on! I’m working part time for a doctor and still enjoy dabbling in photography and house decor/gardening. Have elbow surgery looming so will lay low for a bit. Phew! I think that’s enough update! Good to check in with you!
@@leslieashley5185 Hey, Leslie Ashley!! I know you! Miss you! ❤️
So happy to see your face, I've missed ya! It's been a quiet summer. I've read 9 books though! Now I'm gearing up for the Maryland Renaissance Festival season!
Missed you, too! What books did you read; which one was your favorite? I'm a terrible reader of books, but I consume lots of podcasts. Must to better! Have fun at the Ren Faire! I may go to the Texas one down near Houston this year. I haven't been in years.
Delighted to see your face. You always make me smile. 😃
Ah, thanks! Glad to hear from you! ❤
Hello Rachel, so nice to see you! It’s wonderful of you too be close to your mom and take care of her sister. I’m sure she’s very grateful. It can be exhausting and you’re a great daughter for doing that. Glad to see that you’re back even if just every now and then I really enjoy your videos. I went on vacation with my daughter to Branson, Missouri and May. Always a fun time there. And I’m currently reading a study and drowning. Looking forward to the next video whatever it may be love cemeteries as well and that’s a great idea that was so awesome.take care and see you the next one
I've never been to Branson, but I've heard it is amazing. Who did you see in concert and what did you do there? What is the study you are reading about? Thank you so much for being here. :) Working on the next video now.
Good to see you again. Glad to hear nothing disastrous happened and your mother is better. Sometimes just finding the motivation to do something is a challenge. I see minion is still living his best life. That style of planter is at my local lowes, so they may just be cemetery style. Something heavy and unlikely to walk off when someone is not looking. Love the idea of using them for old forgotten graves. As long as Minion doesn't start hissing at random dolls and corners you know the gifts were appreciated. I know I would. Don't think I've ever seen fu dog foxes before. Very elegant and magical. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Life is short so if you're feeling fall in summer or Halloween in February decorate for it. If the decor police show up tell them to come back with a warrant. There are a few Halloween and Christmas items that go up randomly at my place throughout the year. They are too pretty to spend 10 months in a box. I'm trying to motivate myself into working on some Halloween ideas. Want to do a ghost candleabra, a jack-o-lantern hot air balloon, and some others. Thanks for the update. Time to watch the Gashlycrumb tinies playlist again.
Hello, my friend! No, Mama is doing better. It's just a slow process. And yes, Minion is ALWAYS living the best life. Right now, he's napping on the top perch of the cat tree. I love your Halloween project ideas - especially the jack-o-lantern hot hair balloon. That sounds neat! I tend to hold off on Halloween til September, but then it's full speed ahead. :) I love spooky season.
Nice to see you Racheal! I moved to Austin, TX with my son, his Japanese wife, and their kids, ages 2 & 4 in July. I keep thinking I should post a video on my channel to update everyone, but I just haven't felt like it. I'm very happy with my new life here. I'm crocheting a beautiful flowered baby dress for my youngest daughter who is having her first baby in December, so I will be going back to visit her in NM then. Thanks for asking! ❤
You are my neighbor, kind of! I'm in Dallas. Welcome to Texas. As far as posting an update, you'll know when the time is right. Don't rush yourself. I had a few folks ask after me so that encouraged me to give the update. Can't wait to see the pretty baby dress. Congratulations to your daughter! :)
Love them stone foxes made me think of the cats outside Greater London House a insane Art Deco Egyptian Revival Former cigarette factory in Camden. I love cemetery too, full of stone angels and non stone foxes. In the last few months I was made redundant, was offer one job but that fell through, just been offer a new job starting next week making sausages. Hope your mother gets better and you find your energy. always good to see your video no matter how long it's been between uploads or how short the video
Oh, wow! Those Greater London House cats are quite a bit more impressive then these foxes, although the foxes appear to be much more secretive, in league with all that bamboo. I'm glad you found a new job. Hope you like it! Thank you so much for your kind words. :)
Just keep doing the vajhos to make you happy that's why i watch and I lurk because I have a tendency to say things that well yeah
Ha! Good to see you Great Lord Pooh. :)
Racheal, it was lovely to see you! The arrangements were beautiful as well, and I also love cemetaries :) I've been dealing with autistic burnout, and an illness that knocks me flat for several days, then goes away like nothing happened, undiagnosed to date. Other than that...keepin on keepin on! Take your time, do what you've gotta do, don't wipe yourself out. We'll be here when you are :)
Oh, no! I hope you find out what's ailing you. Exhaustion, especially undiagnosed, must be so frustrating. Sending your healing thoughts. :) Thank you!
@@rachealgetscreative Thank you, I appreciate your time!
Happy to see you back on youtube! Take your time, we love to watch your content, but selfcare is the most important. I hope you and your mom are doing okay. The striped cows are a Dutch breed! They're called Lakenvelders here, not sure what the English name is. Looking forward to your project with eyes, because I looove me some eyes. 👁👁👁
Hello! I should look to you for how to do better eyeballs. So far, I've just got some cheap "monster" ones on Amazon. Is that what those cows are called? Let me look that up. Wow, I wonder what they are doing here in Texas. :) They seemed quite happy but wanted me to keep my distance.
Love the bunny
Lovely drawing of Amy - thanks for pointing me to these!
I believe Edward would approve, especially of your cat joining in your art making (he had several cats who crawled over his workspace). Since you asked, yes - he used India ink with dip pens with very fine nibs - his favorite were Gillott Tit Quill nibs, which are very delicate, or C. Howard Hunt 104s (until they stopped production). I think you did a lovely tribute! Should you ever visit Cape Cod, visit his home, which is open as a museum most of the year. They have a sampling of his pens and nibs on display. His actual studio is upstairs, and not on the tour, but you can find pictures of it.
What wonderful information! Thank you! I knew he was a cat lover (and bug lover, etc.) and his house is definitely on my list to visit should I ever travel to Cape Cod. You seem like a big fan of his so I really appreciate your approval of my Gorey project. :)🦇
@@rachealgetscreative I'm a big fan of his work, and have a modest collection. I live about 15 minutes or so from The Gorey House Museum and am a Member. Every year, they dress the home with new exhibits -- this year, it's his "moveable" books (e.g., The Tunnel Calamity and The Dwindling Party are heavily featured, as are The Dripping Faucet and his tiny books collection). And I want to repeat, I loved your video and think he'd get a kick out how you're leveraging your background (he was a constant tinkerer).
@@kenthomas1109 I love it. Thank you so much! Goreytober was a whole series I did a couple of years ago. If you get to it, I would love to know what you think of the stories, videos I made for each child. Twenty-six videos obviously, plus a trailer. It’s a fun October activity. 🎃
@@rachealgetscreativeI will definitely check then out! Have a great one.
@@kenthomas1109 You, too!
Did you make up the stories or are those the stories that Edward made? If that's the case, in which book do I read them? By the way, how cute and macabre you draw
Thank you! I made up the stories but was inspired by the one line per child that Edward Gorey wrote - for example, "A is for Amy who fell down the stairs" is Gorey's line and I made up the 500 word story that goes with it. I did publish a book on Amazon of my versions, which can be found here: www.amazon.com/26-Tiny-Tombstones-Racheal-Jones/dp/B0CJS39VTV/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&dib_tag=se&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.yYUTvUTtMENxGYtg-AccaTqqJzkdVJoUimx9dCVm8xrGjHj071QN20LucGBJIEps.YIL3IZ7u2cx7w9DPzT8F7JE1xEEjwHG-9ldQwtCUrfk&qid=1723169999&sr=8-1

Oooooo I LOVE the chrysalis lady, her face is my favorite that you’ve done so far, she’s really awesome!
Thanks! I like her lots, too! :) ❤
cant wait to see snow white paintings, I love Grimm's Household Tales. some day I will get round to buying a copy with Mervyn Peake's illustrations. in 1999 we went to Cornwall to see the Total Solar Eclipse but only saw clouds so I hope you have more luck
I really love fairy tales, too - especially the Grimm/darker ones which are closer to the origininal folk tales. Here's hoping for good weather for our eclipse. Thanks!! 🌚🌞
I've never been to a cave, but they look so cool. Any plans to paint a cave scene? Beautiful work on the mirror. It looks like something you would order on Grandin Road. I like the idea of using the door knobs. I bet it was fun to paint. Love the chrysalis lady. You did great with the gradient. The fairy pieces are whimsical. The wisteria is immediately recognizable and not all tiger lillies have spots. Maybe more leaves and vines in the wisteria to break it up. Definitely task completed. The Snow White pair sounds promising. All of the details in the story give you a lot to work with. I do wonder how many things Snow has to get from shady people before she gets suspicious. If painting snakes on Medusa is too triggering you could always do braids to look like snakes. Happy Easter and eclipse. Thanks.
The cave was pretty neat. Very high humudity down lower actually. Wet floors (they had mats). It was strange to think that a stalactite and stalacmite about 3 inches from each other wouldn't meet to form a column for 100 years or so. And there were little tiny bats, too. 🦇I'm looking forward to the Snow White art, too. I love fairy tales. I was reading the Grimm "Little Snow White" and also thinking - this girl isn't too bright, is she? But then, she was about 7 years old when she had to run away from home. Guess she spent a lot of time in that glass coffin before the prince found her (I hope). Happy Easter! 🐰🐇
love your lady with the Chrysalis, what a cool concept. And the snow white series is going to be awesome! But you made my day with Minion in a box, what a cutie that cat is!
I included the Minion for you! That is the top of an acrylic paint box set - perfect size for cat-sitting. Thanks!! 😺
@@rachealgetscreative You're so sweet!
Racheal, your Butterfly Gal turned out beautifully! I love her dress and the chrysalis, as well! I have a few paintings I'm not too chuffed with...they'll likely end up jesso'd and painted over at some point. The fastest I ever saw my mother move was when a snake slithered out from under our van...after about 45 seconds of frenzied blur, Mama was standing with a shovel in her hand, and that 2 foot snake was in about 20 pieces! I don't even know where she got the shovel from, we were just talking, hehe!
Go, you Mama! Snake killer! I know a lot of them are harmless, but they just CREEP me out. Thank you about my butterfly girl. I like that sleeve a lot, too - might be my favorite bit. 🦋
Her skin tones look great! I like seeing how you're trying different styles and techniques.
You’re finding your style and technique that has to be very satisfying 💕🤗Ty for bringing us along💕
Thank you so much!! ♥
I love that you brought us along on your walk, what a beautiful place! I adore Bella Baxter and I loved the movie! she is perfect for your next project! I also liked the fairy houses, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, isn't that what we're supposed to do? Anyway, as you can tell, I've enjoyed this format very much , I only miss seeing your kitty. 😺😺
Ah, I will be sure to show Minion then. He's fairly photogenic. :) Thank you for your kind comments! Bella is coming along, working in some butterfly/chrysalis ideas now. Hope you are well.
Share whatever you want. I will watch. You do wonderful work.
Thank you so much! ❤
The Valentine lady looks great. Nice depth, contemplative expression, and color. The fairy houses look very sweet. If I don't feel something is quite right I put it somewhere it will catch my eye by accident and also put it sideways or upside down so I will be forced to see it in a different perspective. That helps me. You can learn a lot doing things outside your norm. It's easy to get in a rut doing the same thing all the time. If you get caught in the fairy relm just throw catnip on them and Minion will take care of the rest. The blending gradient on Bella is looking great. Have you ever tried sandable hard gesso? Prep work is a pain, but it can give you a super smooth surface on canvas. Will all of the paintings be flat, or have you considered things like paper mache spheres and ceramic masks? There is also the possibility of incorporating LED light strings poking through the canvas for stars or window lights. I like the updates. The idea of a slide show while you review the months work sounds good. Whatever works for you. Thanks.
Those are all great suggestions about turning a canvas around, etc. for a new perspective. Isn't it weird how that makes it look so different? I have not tried sandable hard gesso. I will look that up. I'm finding I really do prefer a very smooth surface. I have thought of using non-flat surfaces. Maybe furniture. A mask is a great suggestion - perfect, because I am going to Venice, Italy, this fall. Maybe I'll make my own mask as well as buying one. Thanks for being here. ❤
I'm happy to watch videos like this. What a beautiful spot you discovered!! I totally understand the need to focus on painting without worrying about filming. I love the shapes in the two fairy paintings!! Maybe you could add some little figures flitting around them. Love ya! ❤
Hey, little fairy lights (that are actual fairies) might be fun. Thanks!! :)
That’s a pretty spot! Pink haired ladie’s eyes are surreal! I don’t think there are any rules to TH-cam, make as many or as few vids as you’re feeling. Whatever brings you joy!
I think that's the kind of "TH-camr" I am - the kind that just gets what I'm doing out into the world, as some kind of record. :) Thanks!!
