Sounds like thruster noise in your cabin. I like inside rooms. They're fine. I'm no fuss when it comes to staterooms. The rest of the ship matters a lot more. I think Silhouette is my favorite Celebrity ship overall. But the Solstice class for me is "proper" Celebrity with proper defined as what the original Celebrity set out to do adjusted to current times. I'd say Edge class are a more "Cirque" type of entertainment ship with an emphasis on suite passenger amenities and prioritizing as well.

I'm going on my first ever Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette now 9 Dec 2024. Will be a solo cruiser. Pretty excited. Hope I like the experience.

I was on this cruise as well, I did receive notice that there would be a delay boarding due to the inspection. Sorry you didn't get it. I enjoyed this cruise as well.

My history goes back to the Horizon class. I liked the Century class most followed by Solstice. Favorite of the 3 is the Galaxy but I liked all 3 of them. There have been a lot of changes to the Millennium class. The Edge isn't for me and I'm alarmed that Celebrity will never build the type of ships they used to. The Edge is just different, not evolutionary but a departure. No Sky Lounge, Ensemble Lounge or Rendezvous Lounge, different feel altogether to the Martini Bar, no library, no access to the front of the ship. There is a lot more emphasis on shows and acrobats and not only in the theater, but in the Club and Eden. I guess it's trying to be livelier that Solstice/Millennium but a lot of stuff has been moved to the foyer in the Solstice. With the Century class, the 3 ships weren't carbon copies of each other with some small differences like the other class of ships are. That's what made them so unique. And remember the Crystal Room on the Century? That's the area, that second lounge in the aft, that I valued so much on that ship. And for its er, it had lots of tech, wild art, an elevator on it, and was very forward looking yet was still retro in some areas.

We are on our first celebrity cruise. We did aqua class. We absolutely love blu and the thermal suite. We are definitely spoiled and can never go back.

I really love Aqua Class! The dining room food is wonderful! It is so peaceful with fantastic service!

I much prefer Celebrity over Royal Caribbean but Royal has far more perks for Diamond Plus.

Thanks but a four night cruise to lacking ports gives little chance for objective evaluation--my only cruises on X have been 2wk. plus and looking ahead to NE/Can/Greenland/Iceland on this classic ship--can't wait.

Fascinating retrospective!

Great video. Several years ago, we made a round-trip crossing. We went from Brooklyn to Southampton and back again to Brooklyn as one 15-night cruise. It was wonderful! I'll add a couple of notes to your video: First, keep in mind the time change. When sailing eastwardly from Brooklyn to Southampton, you'll lose an hour on most days. The ship makes her time change at noon, so you'll lose a daytime hour on several of your days. On the westward voyage, you'll add an hour, which the ship does in the middle of the night. And always remember: for on-board activities and timekeeping, the ship's time is king. I don't care what Greenwich says, if the ship says it's 2:00, then it's 2:00! lol Second, even in August, the mid-Atlantic can be mighty cold. That's important because even walking around the outdoor deck to get some steps in, you'll want a jacket or a warm sweater. I know the calendar may say "August," and the land temperatures may be well above 80 or even 90 Fahrenheit, but trust me, you'll be glad for that warmth if you venture outdoors for more than a few minutes.

They are typically longer. They usually depart from one port at returns to a different home port. Mostly transatlantic, some pacific coastal cruises, Panama Canal are repositioning voyages.

6:29 Celebrity has excellent dining staff ❤ They do make you feel special. Like you’re a part of a family.

Wife and I typically do 12-14 night cruises. Over that duration of a cruise, in our experience, Aqua is typically $600-800 per person more than Concierge, so we typically just stick with Concierge, especially since neither of us are really into the whole "spa" thing which seems to be the primary driver for Aqua. But we did book a 12-night cruise in Aqua for next month because, on that particular cruise, Aqua was only $150 per person more than Concierge. Dining in Blu for only $12.50 per person per day was something we could pull the trigger on. But the part that usually gets me is that, even though Aqua can be so much more than Concierge, as far as the Captain's Club goes, you earn the same number of points in the club between the two classes. It seems to me that if Aqua is consistently that much more money than Concierge, Aqua should be earning you more rewards points than Concierge. But that's just me.

Does Aqua class have a sofa bed?

Thanks for sharing! I’ve heard rumors of a major refurbishment in spring 2024, but no confirmation especially after watching your video. I’ve been contemplating booking the Best of Italy and Croatia cruise in July but skeptical about the condition of the ship especially the cabins.

Do you have a copy of what you received in your cabin? Our friends are elite plus and they said they do not get free coffees at Cafe el Bacio! Thank you

I flew a TWA 747 out of JFK to Rome in May1987,. We flew out of their classic terminal which is now a hotel. The plane was maybe 1/3 full.

An additional Concierge Class benefit: the pillow menu. You can choose from a variety of pillows. We got a free upgrade to a Concierge cabin on an upcoming Beyond cruise in September. Looking forward to seeing the difference. Thanks for the info.

THANKS JONATHAN for doing that and taking this sujuect seriorsy i did not know lot of that but thanks for telling us of the laws on cruise ships there was one disater on cruise ship in oct 1980 the HOLLAND AMERICA LINE ship the MS PRINCENDAM it left Vancouver for asia when it got to the gulf of alaska it had fire wich stated in the engine room and went up fast lot pepole serived the disater and the US coast guard was there for the rescure and the passengers that surived were taken to Sitka i saw moumet about the disater in sitka when i was there in june 1999 i have two books on HOLLAND AMERICA line and that disater is in those books one by bill miller the other is by ian collard so thanks for talking about safety on cruise ships because of that fire on the ms PRINCENDAM the cruise lines have been lot safer and when that disater hit the PRINCENDAM the PRINCENDAM sank after the fire was put out but like i said because of there safety laws lot people serived and to my knowolge no one died in that disater that why the cruise lines have a good saftey recored like holland america has wich i saw

You should go on a Alaska cruise that would be lot cheaper than going on cruise to Iceland also I would like you to talk about the security on cruise ships like I had to have my face scanned and go through metal dector and our bags scanned when we came back onboard at the port we visted on our Alaska cruise on the Volendam the security officer on the Volendam told me they got lot complaints about the security but he told me why they had to do it because of US law if they find storaways on the ship when they come back to the us or Canada Port they wil be fined big time and if they find drugs onboard then they wil be fined big time for that Holland America has strick law on drugs if they find drugs in passeergers bag like pot or concaine they wil remove you from the ship and you wil have pay your way home your self they are warring signs on the ship saying that so I think it important that pepole know the security laws on cruise ships then they wil be better parred to go through it because the cruise lines wil not tel you I had complain to them about my pricy because here in Canada we have privacy laws wich I told them and they take my privacy very seriously wich I was very glad to hear that that why I am going on Holland America cruise again because they take my privacy and security very serously A
