Erika Amato
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ก.ย. 2013
Erika is a professional actress and singer with a goofy personality and a tendency to babble. For over a decade, she was lead singer of the band Velvet Chain, who are still best known for their association with the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Same song, over 20 years apart! ("Levon" by Elton John)
In honor of World Voice Day, I'm sharing something a little embarrassing: a side-by-side comparison video of me singing the same song as both a 22-year-old who really thought she was doing something (ha!) and a much more seasoned 44-year-old. Kinda crazy! Happy World Voice Day!

Performance at the now-closed Metropolitan Room in NYC, piano by the extremely talented Tracy Stark. Music and lyrics by the brilliant Maury Yeston. This video has been up on the Velvet Chain channel for years (uploaded there because that was my only channel at the time), but I realized that it should really be here, too, in case anyone's ever trying to check out my musical theatre/cabaret styl...

Erika Amato reads Shakespeare's Sonnet 116

On October 24th, 2020, I participated in the 10th Annual Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam, which was all virtual this year. I very carefully selected Sonnet #116 (even though I knew it's terribly famous/overdone), because it's exactly what I wanted to say about the love between my late husband, Jeff Stacy (primary writer/producer/bass player of Velvet Chain) and me. For those who don't know, ...

It’s nice to hear Davy’s vocal on this, as I think Mike’s buddy John London sings on the studio track in his stead Or maybe my brain finally ID’d Davy’s part when it could match it to his lips moving
Some pretty pretty good singing.
Amazing song well done men Merry Christmas ALL around the world. 🙏🏼🎁🎄
I love how Davey knows all their names and something personal about them.
One of the best versions I've ever heard! 🎄
Davy’s voice is so strong❤
That is not easy to sing. It takes amazing talent to be able to pull that off!
That was a CLASS ACT!
Really Great Harmony ..😮...😊
Beautiful song and the harmonies were PERFECT! But my GOD! ALL those MEN in the crew and only 5 women who... work in the office... but then, those were the times.
I first heard this 12 years ago when I bought the Monkees tv show on DVD to watch with my daughter - it's now one of my favourite Christmas songs. This just shows how well these four could actually sing. Also, I think this carol may be in Catalan, not Spanish?
Also, but surprised Davy got away with calling someone a poof on a kids tv show - did the Americans not know what it meant?!
Wonder how Rick Klein felt about being called a poof on national television. 😅😅
The way Davy looks at Mickey is beautiful.
It is as if"Wow this guy can really sing"....so glad you noticed that.Mickey was sometimes overlooked for his vocal talent.
My first concert,I was 8.I saw them 5 more times after that.Ive always noticed the look that was given to Mickey by Davey in this video. He also looks at Peter too, like "Check this guy out"
I saw this episode a few months back. With the rich kid who hated Christmas. And the Monkeys helped him see the light.😊 And then this vocal. I was entranced by it. And I'm so glad to see this and relive its wonder. I don't know what it meant, but it's beautiful.🎄🎅
It appears there’s no females nor any brothers on the crew. Nor any Chicos or any Zulus, on the crew
They all looked stoned. Functionally stoned. ✌
"Peace and Love and everything else!" Loved them so much!
in 1968 during their Australian tour I took the week off school amd just sat on the fence outside their hotel window. After 3 days a security guard approached me and took me inside the lobby. There to greet and thank me for my dogged persistance was David and Mickey who kissed me on the cheek, hugged me and signed my autograph book. Later that evening the security guard let me give my autograph book for Michael to quickly sign as they were heading to the car to go to their concert. I was 11 and though I was punished severely by the school and my parents it remains one of my happiest memories
WOW! Worth it! You were a brave and patient kid.
Their voices and harmonies are brilliant. The most impressive thing might be that they had to learn to sing it phonetically. Catalan is a pretty unusual language.
Besides the song which is just wonderfully sung, this has to be one of the best Christmassy things I have seen in a very long time. Makes me nostalgic for those programs that would take the time out to do something like this. You just don't see this today in shows.
❤
I have always loved this!
Oh how I loved the Monkees!
The Monkeys were great musicians and entertainers and I always loved watching and listening to them. Still hanging on to Micky and missing the others.
Flat out outed the guy with the flower. His a puff, take him home.
Never knew they could sing harmony that well.
A Spanish carole
Davy Jones has to be the most precious celebrity ever! I adored him. May he, Peter, and Mike rest in peace.
The first time this episode aired we, of course, didn’t know that song was coming at the end. The second time I saw it I was in front of the television with a cassette recorder in front of the speaker to record it. I listened to that song so so many times. Their harmony was so flawless and beautiful. And Micky’s solos were perfect, he had the ideal voice for that.
And yet they aren’t “real” enough for the hall of fame🙄
Who knew that the Monkees would be singing a Renaissance song? And so beautifully!
And with incense!
lovely! ❤❤❤ thank you
Were some of those guys at the end the actors who played Wizard Glick's minions in the final episode?
My friend brother took piano lessons from Peter Tork. He had no idea who he was, I flipped out when I saw a picture if them. I was able to meet him at her brother's concert, and was able to have my picture taken with him as well. Ironically I had the biggest crush on Mike, but I didn't want to ask about him because of the hard feelings between the two of them.
I'm 43 and my first crush was Peter Tork when I was about 5 years old watching Monkees syndication in the 80s. That's so cool you got to meet him!
Thanks for sharing! ✌️❤😊
I was just a kid back then and watched them because they were funny. Little did I realize how musically talented they were. ❤
This video brought a great big smile to my face, many thanks for sharing it. I've been a fan of the Monkees ever since their show 1st aired, watching it in London, but had no idea of this song until now. Amazing performance, they definitely gelled well together with awesome harmonies. Also, agree the last part where they brought the crew in front of the cameras was a very sweet gesture on their side, totally keeping with the Christmas spirt. A very poignant moment in time captured for posterity. 👌🙏😀
Red alpaca cardigan sweaters - the epitome of 1960s cool. Merry Christmas to all.
The Monkees - they got me through. . . ✨☮️🌼🌱🐶✨
Great special closing credits only used on one Monkee episode. Too bad you cut off the middle of the "S From Hell" logo.
I used to work with a woman who grew up in England. She said that in England, they say "Happy Christmas-" not "Merry Christmas."
Never knew that they did this one, always a favourite! They did a great version.
They were so underrated. I love Mickey’s voice
i recently met the velvet chain and i really like her voice and music so much, thank you for continuing to make us happy
Love this
My childhood, fun innocent times. The Beatles had gone weird and scary to me (aged 11) so the Monkees took over for me for a couple of years. I went back to the Fabs with a vengeance later, but the Monkees were great and produced some classic tracks. Mickey Dolenz is one of my favourite singers and it turns out all four were real talents.
I love The Monkees TVS Shows.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was great! I so miss the simpler times
💕👍💕
Great work both times. The more recent one though clearly shows how you grew from a very talented kid to real pro.
Thanks, friend! (I was hoping that would be the takeaway!)
Wow! 20 years later and you even sound better!! with even a stronger stage presence!! 🎤🎶⭐🫶
Yeah, that's what I meant... I think I was pretty awkward and stiff as a kid!
