      Of course, yeah I'm not sure. There could always be a simpler way in the newer version of Studio One as well. Thanks for watching : )

    Thanks for this. Do you send the vocal to the same reverb bus as the acoustic guitar? Or do you keep the vocal centered instead of panned at all?

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I am keeping the vocal centered on this. Just panning the acoustic slightly to the left and adding a reverb panned slightly to the right to give the song some width. Hope that clears it up! Thanking for watching and commenting : )

    I'm trying to learn Studio One Prime for now... It's okay for now but I guess the free version don't allow you to use 3rd party plugins. I'm still new to the DAW... It's difficult to add my plugins.. Why can't it detect them automatically...

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah Studio One Prime and I believe artist as well don't allow for 3rd party plugins. So even if you get them installed they won't load into the daw. Sorry about that. Thanks for watching though : )

    How do you typically handle the overheads or cymbals getting cut off? To clarify - it would be awesome to see a point where some of these cuts may also cut off the cymbals in some layers. Hopefully that makes sense, thank you so much for these videos!

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've never had an issue with cymbals being cut off in the actual track but that;'s because I use enough of the overheads in the mix as well. If you don't blend enough of the overheads into the mix then you will hear the edits on the toms more. But having softer edits and fades on the toms help make it more natural as well. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching : )

    Do you pretty much template this out for all of your drum recordings? My raw drums sound pretty much identical to your raw tracks, and it just feels so uninspiring. Would love to see some sort of standardized way to make the drums pop to some sort of baseline.

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yup I have a standard template for recording that usually turns into my mixing template as well. It comes loaded with the eq and compression I would put on drums during recording now to get them to the spot where I am ready to mix. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Hello, great video! However a have a question" with the parallel EQ (HP and LP at 160Hz frequency) with 24db/oct slope, it will have a combined result in a +3dB bell boost at that corner frequency and around it. Is this something we need to be worried about?

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching and commenting! It is never something I have worried about, and worst case scenario if you encounter a build up at the crossover point you can always just eq it down on the bus channel. Hope that helps!

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can absolutely use the L2, that's an incredible plugin! Just pull the ceiling down till you are getting the amount of reduction you want and you will be all set. The limiter I am using here is the stock limiter inside of Studio One. Thanks for watching and commenting : )

    I have a question about your lead vocals....Do you bounce them down raw and then mix them?

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I will usually save a layer of the raw unedited vocal for save keeping. The do any editing I may need on it such as stripping the silence or tuning, and then I bounce that for mixing into the track. Thanks for watching, hope that helps!

      Not that I know of. It doesn't seem like you can create automation lanes for different splitter functions. That might just be something you have to duplicate the track for instead of using the splitter. Thanks for watching!

    • @sumthinsrecording2527

      I actually don't use the makeup gain function on the multiband. I'm only using the multiband to tame the harsh areas of the vocals, and then I can use eq if I need to bring out any more of the top end. Thanks for watching : )
