What a naughty intro! Little Man turned into a tree with gum as a head bc Michael Anderson is a psycho conspiracy theory nut job who said wild shit about David Lynch, including accusing him of having sex with his own daughter. Needless to say, he wasn't invited back. Mr. C. (bad Cooper) is my favorite character. I'm obsessed with Mr. C. for same reason - KM playing a bad guy. The Chromatics song is BOMB. Their entire catalogue is top tier.

Thanks for this recap. I saw FWWM when it came out, but I've not seen it since because it's such a bummer. Angelheart is also a great creepy ceiling fan movie.

Yes, the violence in this season is more explicit than in S1 & S2, which aired on regular broadcast TV, as it aired on Showtime and thus could have content more on the level of the R-rated Fire Walk With Me.

"Twin Peaks" changed television. "Twin Peaks: The Return" seemed to attempt to change the viewers.

I don't know if you've been watching all the credits, but there is a sobering number of "In memory of" messages at the end of many of them. Ep 1 was in memory of Catherine Coulson (Margaret Lanterman/Log Lady and long-time collabarator with Lynch). Ep2 is to Frank Silva (Bob).

I think "Mister C" is the most common name for Bad Dale. I also call him Evil Coop. Also.. don't worry. It's completely normal to feel stressed, sometimes even a little frustrated when you watch Season 3 for the first time. It's all part of the journey.

Regarding this show, what do you want but don't need?

I always found the Sarah Palmer scene disturbing in this episode as well. Not just because of what’s she’s watching on tv, but what it implies. So much is said about her 25 years of living in pain and guilt in one scene and in the house were it all occurred. (Grace Zabriske does a fantastic job of portraying it this season). Great reactions as always, and Parts 1 and 2 will always live in my memory, the first time seeing new Twin Peaks on tv in years, as they were aired in a single night.

The Tree with the gum head is indeed the evolution of "the little man". The actor of the little man had some kind of dispute with David Lynch so he wasn't available for The Return, which lead to David Lynch just using a tree with gum to recast him😂

Oh yes. I remember watching this. And feeling so happy & relieved, because EVERYTHING became clear now. 😉

My experience of watching The Return as it came out was going ”This is fantastic” one episode, and then ”wth am I watching and what is that thing?” the next… In the end, I think it’s one of the most fantastic productions ever made from an artistic point of view, but I understand it less and less the more I try. I’m very glad it happened, though.

So those will be good to pay close attention to! This is all I am permitted to say... Every time I watch the Log Lady's scenes, I always think about what it must have been like for Michael Horse to perform his side after Catherine Coulson had already passed. It gives me a strange, sad feeling remembering that in those moments, he is speaking to someone who was already gone. And when the camera cuts between them, it's like we're traveling across time and death to bridge them together.

The wild crazy Arm in the hallway is the doppelganger, and it sent Cooper on a trip ( more to come ). Cooper is not the being that killed Sam and Tracy. The actor who played Jacques in original TP was invited to appear in *The Return* as Jean-Michel Renault, a cousin of Jacques ( Jacques died in original show ). Some musicians were invited to perform ( reality, they're lip-synced ) at the BANG BANG BAR ( AKA roadhouse ). Part two is: Chromatics A friend of Shelly's notices James staring at the friend.
