USA. There are a couple of vids on my channel of the actual top speed of the gearing with two different sprockets. Stock gearing limit is roughly 122 mph and change, as telemetry data verifies. The actual speed will depend on conditions.

Yes, it will go to nearly 12k on the tach. The actual rev limit of the motor is 11300 rpm. These are things I later learned about, with more miles.

Who told you that weight is a big factor in your top speed? HP and aerodynamics (your tuck) are much bigger factors. Weight alone makes you take longer to achieve the speed, because the rate of acceleration is less. A giant lard-ass might think the "weight" is the issue, but it is more likely due to their horrible aero.

"Never understood" is the key announcement, here. The 250 is a great bike; we've had that and two 300's, two 400's, and now the 500.

I know that double the cc doesn’t equal double the hp, but you would think the gains would be greater, especially with how efficient new engines are?

Keep your r3 if 1. it really goes 127 and 2. Top speed is what you are after. I love my 500 in the Shenandoah mountains, and I am faster on it than on my VFR 800. The 800 whips it on the highway, but that's NOT where I do 95% of my riding.

230 lbs. The weight is not going to matter very much, at all. It is the aero and hp that determine top speed. The weight makes it take longer to get there, as it mainly affects acceleration. Of course if you are as big as a barn door, that is not going to help your aeros.

Peak indicated speed of 131 mph is equal to 210.8 kmh. I believe there is a setting to change the gauges to kmh. I might do that next time as many people seem interested in that unit of measure.

@@educationcitystadiumclinic2709 recently my partner looked at a CF Moto 450 SS. I thought it might be fun to ride the two bikes together. But the dealer wanted so much markup, she could get another Kawasaki cheaper. There just aren't as many dealers for the CF Moto here. She already has a Ninja 400, and other bikes.

It takes quite a while to get there. I am 6' and 230 lbs...that makes it take a lot longer than it would with a jockey.

@@Qrides I've had it to 130 indicated stock exhaust and rear sprocket. In the video it has a slip-on, but that is really no horsepower. I also went down one tooth on the rear sprocket but to be honest I really don't think any of that gave it more speed. I'm going to change to a full header and flash the ECU soon, and maybe a couple other little things and we'll see how fast it goes.

@@Shane661 yea myns got a two brothers slip on from dealership. I’m really wanting to do full headers and ecu flash as well but from tst it’s expensive asf and I’ve heard it doesn’t really add a whole lot to it but when u do let me know if it wakes it up any.

My best guess is that you have an A2-spec model (EU?). The A2-spec is legally required to have a maximum of 48hp. The Ninja 500 is a bit below that at 45.4hp where the North American model has 51hp. Depending on specs, the weight varies a bit too, so that will have an impact on top speed as well. I'm going to a local dealer today to have a look-see on the 500 SE KRT in the flesh, as I seriously consider buying one. :) As I'm 48 and have a strong attachment to my driver's license, I don't care much for top speed anyway, so it is pretty much irrelevant to me. It should just be able to cruise cruise comfortably on the freeway at 130kmh (~81mph), which my previous bikes couldn't do (80's 250cc's).

Maybe you got the 45/48 hp model, I got the 52 hp model and it can really go up to 131/132 mph depends on your shifting tecnique, and I also do power shifting

@@cagatinjandel1600 Shifting technique has *nothing* to do with top speed. The top speed is determined by power (HP), power to weight ratio (including the rider) and aerodynamics. Shifting technique will just get you to a certain speed slower or faster, depending on the technique used.

It has been 130 on the speedo stock gearing and exhaust. This video has slip-on exhaust and -1 rear sprocket. It will need more power to go faster with me on it.

@@aleokyn5757 The CBR is quite a bit heavier than the Ninja. The difference in weight is almost 50 pounds.

The weight in this case is insignificant. Top speed is more related to aerodynamics and horsepower. Power to weight ratios are more significant to acceleration. Even with some additional weight, the motorcycle can still achieve the same top speed, it just takes more distance to do so.

It would be interesting to see. CFMoto looks very nice, but I am a big Kawasaki fan for many years. I would like to ride a CFMoto to try it, though.

I've seen that video. I don't think the Kawasaki has anything too much to worry about. Both bikes are about the same hp and aero. But there is a lot more aftermarket support for the Kawasaki. So that is an advantage for making more power. Mine will soon have more power.

Seven pounds is nothing, and 1 hp is nothing, overall. Rider weight and size are much more important. There are a lot of factors outside of what you see on paper.

123.2 mph on GPS via Hero 5 with 18hz refresh rate. These speedometers are inaccurate, but not so much as you might incorrectly think.

The "130 up a hill" was purely from the downhill momentum. It quickly lost that momentum going uphill, and the video ended before coming all the way down to where it should realistically be uphill. And official top speeds are indicated at flat ground. There he did around 125. The ekstra 5 mph compared to your Z400 is mostly due to the better aerodynamics the fairing provides.

MPH. 131 mph = 210+ kmh. I was thinking of switching my gauge settings over to kmh readings for another run sometime. Seems that many vids show that, but I am in the US.

@@Shane661 What I'm wondering is, I think both motorcycles have the same engine block. My motorcycle sold in Europe is 451cc, 33Kw and 42.6Nm. However, the other version appears to be 500cc 51Nm. I don't understand whether this information is just on paper or for real. I think after removing the limiter my engine will be able to produce 51Nm horsepower.

@@Fonyikopo haven't heard of it although I doubt it being on both, it's an entirely different clutch for the Ninja 400 and 500

@@Fonyikopo We've had two 400's and now the 500. No issues noted with the clutch. I've seen some of the claims, but I have not seen dyno charts showing rpm and drum speed that indicate slip. If there is an issue for some, it is easily remedied with a change of springs.
