Half Blind Horse Spooks!
มุมมอง 460หลายเดือนก่อน
I really had no idea what I was going to be dealing with when I accepted to work with Mayfair. Her story was that she was a spooky horse to begin with, but manageable. After she got an infection in her right eye, she started going blind, despite all the efforts from the owners with medication and vet visits and follow ups. After she lost her eye sight, she started exploding and bolting sideways...

Our training was progressing well, and each day, I would tie Sapphire to the railing at the washing bay and she would stand relaxed and let me give her a good wash down. Unfortunately, a couple of days ago, for some unknown reason, she threw her head up when some water got close to her face and she pulled back until she pulled the slack out of the line. She freaked out and panicked. She was vio...

Sapphire. First ride. 4 Checks.
มุมมอง 4.7K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
We are ready for our first ride, I share with you 4 essential things you should check and show you what to check for, before you consider getting on your horse for the first time. Some people just get on and buck it out, that fine, but if you want to keep yourself and your horse safe, and actually teach them something that they will fondly remember, then do these 4 checks first. If your can't h...

This was perfect thank you
Wow! She has a great temperament! "Unhandled" can be a blessing, right? It's great that you are working with her. I love how fair and gentle you are with her. Those quiet moments when the horse chooses to stay are the best, in my opinion.
So true!
OTTB
He should never of left her! She is now so worked up and scared! I’m not impressed with the way you train !
What caused the panic?
Great vidéo but what do you do when you try to put the halter and lead rope on and the horse always bites it?
Hello, your are fantastic 😊😘
So are you.
You have no clue what you are doing.
😂
Great to see the patience of the trainer. It is what more parents should do whith their children... Patience and giving safety and security!
I agree!!
how you do this in closed area
I'm very impressed by your patience and insistence you are showing by working with this wonderful stallion - strong, intelligent and vivacious, but also shy and fearful. I can see that you work very carefully with the horse, which is very understandable to me, also because I heard you say that you were once attacked by a horse. That leaves its mark. - Have you been able to work through the trauma psychologically or is the horror still in your bones? I wish you all the best and hope there will be a continuation, would like to see how the story is going on with the saddle... ;-) Lots of respectfulness for your commitment, from Switzerland!
He can hurt himself badly tideup like that, why are you flaging when he is tide up
The rope slides.
Great video! You're right; Arabs have incredible stamina and are also exceptionally smart. Some trainers seen on TH-cam have mentioned that Arabians are difficult and unpredictable to train, but it is more about winning the horse's trust first. A first-rate job with Sapphire.
This was just wonderful to watch all that work what you two guys have done together and learned one from another, I feel enriched by this great and transforming story I could live with you. Thank you so much for doing and sharing, best wishes from Switzerland!
How does she get foot care? She's no baby.
You got lucky that she didn't injure herself I am very disappointed in this video
That was unnecessary stress I hope you checked her feet for hot and inappropriate first aid
This was super excellent. Great job! 🎉
I imagine saying goodbye to her was bittersweet.
36:09 What does it mean when the horse crosses its hind legs? Does crossing over affect the flow of movement to do something (or not do whatever?)
Wow. That little exercise you did with Saphire ??? was beautiful. Show us more, please!
Amazing bond starting I never thought of training that way from the arena to outside 👍
I love that you are not stopping this process. You are allowing her to face her fear. Thankyou for your kindness.
Great video, thank you so much for sharing!
You are so welcome!
Very nice
Thanks
Amazing! Please continue with this series.
👍👍
Damn please feed that poor horse. Shes nothing but skin and bones. I see her rib cage and hip bones sticking out all over. No muscle. Poor horse. 😥
Very nice facility; well laid out and has great 'fencing'.
It sure is!
Fantastic join up, with a sweet horse.
She’s a great companion
Why are her ribs showing? On the Body Condition Scoring, she looks like she rates a 3, which is unnecessarily THIN! Looking back at the first training video, she appeared to be in much better condition without any rib definition.
They lose weight during training.
My dad hated the wind. Why? While in battle on Attu during WWII, he couldn't hear the enemy's troop movements. I get it.
We aren’t very different to horses.
I have very much enjoyed watching your work with Sapphire. I hope that her owner will have as much patience with her as you have shown is well worth the effort. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I am not involved with horses at this time but have a great attachment to them in my heart having been involved previously. Honestly, I just enjoy watching your work with horses, I love horses, and I am glad to learn a few things along the way. I do have two questions that I would like to ask -- what is your first name and what location do you train out of? I noticed palm trees in the background so I was just wondering. Thank you for posting your videos and I look forward to new ones in November. Thank you! Melinda
I know the feeling Melinda; being connected to horses although not being with them…. They will keep trying to pull good people back to them. My name is amru, and I live in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Need some fly repellant for her?
Thank you brilliant 🙏🙏❤️
You are so welcome
It looks like a smooth D-ring snaffle bit, am I right? Is that what you use for training?
That’s right.
What kind of bit are you using?
Standard snaffle
Thank You!
Thank you too
Good job again. Lots of calm, confident instruction for the horse, and we that are watching. 👍👍
Thanks for the support all this time Thomas!
You are my favorite online trainer. A pleasure to watch you and I've learned lot. Thank you.
Thank you for the taking the time to watch and I truly appreciate your comment 🙂
Great video!
Thanks!
Great series!
Thank you ❤
Is this the backside of a track ?
No it’s just a normal humble farm.
What is with the trash everywhere?
Some construction work ongoing
she was going to corners looking for an open gate after finding her way out the first time.
Probabky
Did she run into her own stall?
No a different one!
Nicely done. The treat thing - "not believing in it" - really, if you do want to explore any type of positive reinforcement type training, you don't try to bribe with food, and you don't offer food as they move away, the opposite and there is a whole approach with it. But study it by someone that is a professional. It can be a powerful tool among others like pressure and release when done well.
Thanks and will look into it.
Poor horse
🤦♂️🤦♂️
Her hind left leg appears to be limping somewhat.
Love the Platform, able to learn from You anywhere in the World 🌎 Many Thanks and Salute to your time and efforts for educating and making a Change Sir❤
Thanks Mahboob!!!!
I prefer Ryan Rose's training methods. He doesn't use exhaustion to train a horse!
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
It would take close to 100km of constant cantering to get anywhere near exhausting a horse!!
