Unmedicated Home Birth of Baby #1 (intense + positive experience)
This week we are sharing with you the most amazing experience of our life; the birth of our first son Ezra! Giving birth can be so empowering but it doesn't come easily. For us it was the most challenging yet rewarding experience.
Our wish with this video is for you to see another side of birth that you may not have seen before; giving birth at home, unmedicated and with midwives.
Although it might not be possible for every women to experience this, if this is the path you choose for your birth, I hope this video gives you comfort in knowing it's possible and that your body was create for this!
Please comment if you have any questions and please do share your own birth experience! We would love to hear from you.

welcome to Canada. You are safe now.
Canada is a big country. What province are you in?
Welcome to Canada! Congratulations on Ezra! Are you living in a snowy part of Canada? You may want to keep doors on your front hall closet. And insulation in the basement. Shoes in the house?! Gasp!!
Welcome to Canada, may you be blessed and happy.
You probably will need to insulate that basement before you start using it. Do you mind sharing what Part of Canada you are in. East or west.
Yes we plan on doing that soon! We are on the east coast!
How did you buy a house in Canada when Trudeau passed the the Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non- Canadians Act 2 years ago which has now been extended to 2027?
Steph is Canadian 😊
Check your city bylaws around chickens. Some areas don't allow them within city limits or a set number.
I know our city allows it but I'm not sure how many chickens!,
Congratulations on your new baby and on your first house. Looks like a great property with a nice yard and lots of potential for DIY projects. Which province did you move to?
Great - move to Canada, drive up house prices for actual Canadians, take jobs from actual Canadians, and help yourselves to the health care you refuse to provide for your neighbours in your own country. Maybe go home and FIX THE USA, instead of acting like you’re entitled to screw up things for people in other countries - Canada included.
The wife is Canadian. Do you expect wife and husband to live separately? For them not to be close to family where their child can know their grandparents? You've assumed a lot and it's you who are not coming off the best in this situation.
Looks like you’re doing a lot of things right - get pregnant, move to Canada, buy a house and get a Golden Retriever! I’m going to guess his age at 5 years? Anyway there’s no better dog on the planet, no better place to live, no better investment than a house and no greater joy than raising children. All the best.
Welcome to Canada
Very nice house. What province?
The stairs are narrow so that you can get your head under the header at the bottom of the stairs. A wider stair run will make it hard to duck under the header. The stair rise has to be a certain height for code. Solution might be to move support header $$$$$$$$
your in canada it is the law no outdoor shoes inside even at my daughters school no out door shoes inside and it has over 300 ...no joke
Welcome to Canada. We have been flooded with immigrants and migrants in my city but you seem like good folks. I'll never hold against individuals what our government will allow. I like people from everywhere it's just that we need more infrastructure upgrades and housing before we can welcome the world. Best of luck to you and the house has a lot of potential.
Thank you! We didn't mention it in the video but Steph is actually Canadian born and raised. We just have been living in the US for the past years but moved back to Canada to be close to family 😊
@@stephandmicah Being closer to family is definitely a great reason to relocate.
... can we get 300,000 more of these fine folk?
Congratulations! The home is very nice and has abundant potential. Excited to see y’all transforming it. Good times all round.
Thank you so much!
Please DO NOT put washer dryer in the basement. You will hate it
Why did you pick Canada? What province?
Steph is Canadian born and raised so we moved back to Quebec to be close to her family 😊
Live in Ontario. Is this New Brunswick?
Close! Quebec 😊
I suggest a big entry closet, you'll have so much stuff in the winter (boots, tuques, wet mitts, coats, scarves, wet snowsuits), plus your kids' (more than one maybe) and his/her friends stuff when they come over in the winter. And also your friends. You'll need more than a couple of hooks! Also it will be a huge mess, so add doors.
Congratulations! And welcome to Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you!
It's always fun starting out fresh. Congrats on your new baby and new house.
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful home and plans for the upcoming projects. Just curious how did you buy a house without having permanent residency yet?
Steph is Canadian born and raised 😊
@ we just moved to Ontario from IL with our family! We are looking for homes to buy. It’s been a process!
Good luck! It also took a a long while to find a house
Welcome to Canada. I live in Nova Scotia. Would a stone-look backsplash work for you guys? I found it hard to hear what you were saying with the music on. Love that you will have a downstairs "REC ROOM". Perfect home for a small family and all the projects you have in mind Best wishes with it all!
Thank you! That's a great idea 😊
We recently moved across the boarder into the US , bought a beautiful house we calculated for 300 % less then Vancouver BC ,..And Donald Trump is president,,..
BC is very expensive! Luckily were we are is not as expensive! Glad you found a beautiful home ☺️
Welcome to Canada! I’m a fourth generation Canadian. We have our problems in Canada but the Trump administration scares the heck out of me! That’s all I’ll ever say about that. Can’t wait to watch your progress!
Are you both American? What path to PR are you doing? I heard immigration is tougher with all the new guide lines put in place recently...
Steph is Canadian born and raised 😊
I'm sure you noticed being pregnant and having a baby is sooooo much cheaper than in the US...welcone to Canada 😅
That's for sure haha
Congratulations. Lovely home. Most people start out with donated or acquired used furniture items. Enjoy the fun of the process-taking your time. Great couch. Why purchase an L-shaped couch? A square ottoman will achieve the same thing. If it is the color you can always fix that. Spend the money on other needed things. Wishing much happiness
Second hand stores are your best friend for good cheap furniture when you're starting out. I'm a grandma and still love my second hand stuff I bought in the early years. Welcome to Canada. Where did you move to?? Curious about your new climate reaction
Welcome to Canada !
Start with the fabulous round table. Your home is fine! Great starter home! Best wishes! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👏👏👏👏🇨🇦
Great little house and welcome to Canada! You will love living here! 🙏❤️✌️
As you cannot just move to Canada without going through immigration, how did you manage to get residence here? Just be aware that if you are US residents that you need to get landed immigrant status. Your frst home is perfect for your little family
Steph is Canadian 😊
@ that’s great. My granddaughter is offering to marry any of her US friends who find themselves in danger from the Trump administration.
Hey! I've got the same shitty LG fridge. Hopefully, you don't have to replace your compressor like I've had to do twice already. 🤣
Oh noo! We thought it was a good fridge haha we've only had it for a couple of months now. Hopefully it's doesn't break 😅
Welcome to Canada 🍁 🍁, the looks beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
Welcome to Canada..Where in Canada are you?
Quebec 😊
I'm going to make a pitch for citizens of Canada and the US to be able to switch citizenships. I'm Canadian and I'd be thrilled to exchange my citizenship with someone in the US. Surprised that they're not commenting too much on the price of, oh, everything? here in Canada, where the average cost of a house is $700K. Im not talking about your dream house - just a modest basic dwelling.
Congrats on your lovely home! Good luck !
Welcome to Canada 🇨🇦!!!
Thank you!!
Where in Canada do you live what province?
Quebec 😊
A FYI Be aware that some home renovations will require permits. Be sure to apply for the permits. Or else they will make your life hell.
Congrats!
Welcome to Canada from the middle of Canada 🍁
Thank you ☺️
WELCOME to Canada!! ❤ from New Brunswick, the East coast
As someone who lived in several cities in Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland, the province of Quebec is beautiful. So many scenic areas to visit: The Eastern Townships, les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the Gaspé Peninsula, Charlevoix, just to name a few. I now live in America, but I miss “la joie de vivre des Québécois. I hope you’ll love it there as much as I do.
I love this comment so much! Thank you for sharing 😊 I (steph) am from Québec but left 10 years ago. Micah is from the US but fell in love with the Québécois culture and because my family is all here we decided to move back! It's such a beautiful province!
@ Thank you for replying to my comment. I understand about your husband falling in love with the Quebecois culture. There’s nowhere else like it, although I saw some similarities when I lived in Newfoundland. As a new mom, I’m sure it will be nice for you to live close to your family. I hope your husband will not be too homesick.
Can you build a small mud room on one of the exits and use that for laundry. My house is similar and I hated the laundry in the basement.
I don't think we have space for a mudroom, but now I'm reconsidering having the laundry downstairs with all the comments we are getting haha
@@stephandmicahyes I am also in canada. And my house had it in the basement and we moved it upstairs fairly quickly. Our Mudroom was justly just a covered porch outside the back door initially. We then enclosed it and turned it into a very small addition. I see there is maybe an old back door on the side of the house. I would maybe consider add a very small mud room there. Big enough for a freezer, pantry and laundry. Or even on the front door expand it and turn it to a mud room with laundry and make the porch a bit further out. I guess I am Lucky cause my spouse does construction for a job. So it was something he could do. But it’s very handy. You would want to do it when changing the insulation. The basement we turned into a bedroom (make sure a window is there) and a play room second living room. So it works. The kids play there.Great for guests. No bathroom bit they just come upstairs. Ours is underground so septic runs up so a bathroom is more Complicated to add. But I do agree that you want the laundry out of the bathroom. It does make it Kore cluttered. But as you live in it you will see what makes more sense. We moved in and then did Reno’s. I regretted it during cause it took long. But was better for cost for us. Also look into some home energy govt grants. The govt often has ways to help cover cost of needed repairs. Like if you don’t have enough insulation they may have a grant. If it’s old windows or doors. Etc.
Perfect timing! Welcome back!
Backsplash look at Muralux metal but choose your own image and it gets printed on it. Garden, watch where the trees and shade are, it looked pretty shady where he said you were putting in a garden and the big tree looked like it was on the neighbors property. Think about using hardiplank as siding as more fire resistant and much better than vinyl, easier to maintain
