I never understood this as a kid but now as an adult I watch it and it makes sense.. Its basically you put on a different "face" for everyone you speak to... then if those people all arrive at the same time you don't know what part of your identity to show and up making an idiot of yourself xxx

Thank you, but why not mentioning the author: Directed and animated by the amazing Richard Goleszosky. Absolutely brilliant. I have enjoyed this countless times since it came out on VHS in an Aardman compilation featuring "Creature Comfort" by Nick Park. Dystopian fer sure, but so funny and absurd yet psychologically astute & packed g with emotional intelligence. The soundtrack is fantastic.

IMDB says it's spelled Goleszowski and he goes by Richard Starzark? I'm pretty sure every single detail here was put there for a reason

I remember my mum had a VHS tape of cartoons etc. for us to watch before bed,, and this was on it. Unfortunately for me, this was one of my earliest memories and for a long time I thought it was a crazy fever dream I had. I still nearly tear up to this day. I fucking hate this and im pretty sure whoever made it has commited suicide by now living with the mind they have

I never saw this as a child but if I had it probably would of scarred me too, but seeing it now is really beautiful. The whole thing is a metaphor for identity and how we act and "put on a face" for different people that we interact with. In the end when he finally realizes that who he was pretending to be is not really who he is and he opens up and leaves his "bubble" which is the maze of life and opens his mind to the greater world around him. Thats my interpretation atleast

I wonder if that "E... F" statue thing is someone more anxious and awkward than himself, trying to make small talk. But he finds her annoying and makes her feel small? If not, then I'm out of ideas!

I think maybe in the end, he escapes the world of histrionics, and looks into his own mind. Then he starts to tear that apart too.
