I agree with you. I think it's Spielberg's best film.

I'm a year late but your 'Loghain the chosen one' section would have made this show another turning of the wheel that would actually be cool instead of the cop out that people use now to cover for bad writing. Sorry if that's a spoiler a year later.

Impossible to make into a movie, yet they did. "Speaker For The Dead" would be many times better, but even more impossible to make into a movie.

The moment that hooked me was after Rand got back to Emond's field and he had to get Moiraine's help. He thought he was making a deal with the devil and she says the actual devil of their world is after him and I really wanted to know why and where it would lead

Unforgivable- all the scenes that I loved from the books and was excited to see realized on film wasn't done or was changed so much I hated what I saw. I have never been so disappointed in a show. They had to know that many of these scenes were iconic to the readers. They have to know they are giving us none of what we were hoping for from the books. Instead they are making these new scenes thinking they can take the place of Mat beating the warders, Rand's battle at Falme ....

Talking of the heroes journey reminded me of this series I read where in the first book the hero went around gathering his heroes to go tackle the big bad. The usual story of early fantasy. You grew to love all these people. They got there and entered her domain. They got separated and everyone but the main character got turned. So he escaped at the end, so despondent that he had to start all over again. He had already picked those he thought were the best. And with the next group have to fight these people we learned to love and root for. I can't remember what the series was called and maybe if someone does they should put a whole bunch of spoiler space because this could be almost any hero group epic journey book. Definitely not where I expected this hero journey to go.

Very happy I saw this video today. I saw so many comments and reactions where they just completely dismissed the characters especially Katara and Sokka but also that they completely rewrote Aang but they didn't put any thought into it. It was different than the animated chars and so they hated it. Which made me a bit angry So thank you for actually putting their characterisation into words. I actually really liked what the LA did with the material and of course there is always room to improve but you put it in a really constructive way and not just say well its different so its bad ♡

Great stream - loved the location with planes taking off regularly! In Canada, frost heaves form when water gets into the ground under road surfaces and causes it to heave upwards. Quite unsettling when you hit them at speed, which is why we have loads of warning signs on the worst stretches of highway. Think the end turned into The Sword and the Pen Sidewalks edition 🙂Great content as always. Glad you're getting your tech issues sorted out!

It has been years since I read the Silmarillion, but from what lore experts have said, and doesn't conflict with my memory, is that Galadriel was the one who was always suspicious of Anatar. I know for a fact that they messed up the order in which the rings were made, which thematically and time-line-wise, changes EVERYTHING. The 3 rings of the elves were made LAST, of the rings for the races, and they were for a fact, not influenced by Sauron. They DID NOT have the corrupting draw of the One Ring. EVERYTHING about this series is just... twisted and backwards...

I’ve seen a few snippets of your reviews here and there. Watched all of season 1. And the more I see the more I’m disappointed at the number of *fundamental* changes to the basic world building and story of The Wheel of Time that have been made.

This video is so cringey..Yet again another video by an entitled book fan who thinks they’ve got it all figured out. I really hope bookfans who have their unbridled ego’s and heads shoved away up their crack don’t sabotage the show for the rest of us. At this point if the show did fail, another one would never ever come out, and even if on the slim chance it did it’s dumb hyper-critical small-minded videos like this that would cause it to fail too. They would sabotage a great show and the hundreds of people & staff that are trying to produce the show because you can never please all of them. It’s actually dickish videos like these that are unforgivable.

I never understood why the Aes Sedai would have spent all that energy on Logain to then spend more energy sending him multiple countries away and leave him unmonitored. He was captured in Ghealdan, then they ship him all the way to Cairhien and just walk away?

As a big fan of the cartoon when I was a kid, my favourite bit was seeing Hank, Shelia, Diana, Eric, Bobby and Presto "cameo" in the maze arena scene. The rest of the film I found entertaining enough, and that's all I can ask for from a film like this. I was just glad it was better than 2000's Dungeons and Dragons tbh.

Easily my favorite film of all time. I’m 57 years old now and even though I’ve watched it countless times since it came out there are scenes in this movie that still just resonate so emotionally with me, the scene in the hangar with the Zero and the pilots particularly.

It's been about 25 years since I read the books but from what I remember, the masculine half of the source was tainted by the Dark One and that is what causes the insanity. It doesn't have anything to do with the casters themselves, that cause it.

It sure would be a shame if there was regionally distinct and diverse clothing and cultures in the source material for the show runners to reference.

Remarkably faithful to the book? I almost laughed. The movie cuts out a lot of highly important detail and buildup, as well as the entire earthside story, then rushes the rest of the movie so that it barely makes sense. The earthside story isn't important to Ender at Battle School, but helped to set the background of Earth history and heavily shaped the end of the book. Every moment of the book is very well thought- out and suspenseful. I understand some of the decisions to compress the story, but it sucks the life out of the characters they pushed so that they wouldn't have to flesh out the ones who were actually important to the late story. Fly Molo, Hot Soup, Vlad, Carn, and Crazy Tom were entirely forgotten.

As to why Rand was unaffected by the dagger, I'm pretty sure at some point they mention that a person's ability to touch the True Source grants a resistance to things like the corruption of Shadar Logoth.
