Ive been meaning to re-cable with a nicer jack doing a balanced mod might be the way to go. Ill see about tearing back down as soon as I get a new jack in and post an updated video.

The bass is present but not great You can eq the bass and get better pass like I did. You want to buy these for the highs but for 300 dollars you could get something ready to go out of the box. Not to mention you really need a headphone amp to push these.

@@ernestomartinez8302 Gotcha. It's tempting to pick these up just for their rarity and cult status, not to mention I'm sure they sound good when driven with the proper gear and settings. As you say though there are lots of as capable and more so headphones at that price and cheaper. Hmmm Anyway, thanks for the food for thought and response Ernesto, very much appreciated. Cheers Also, apparently they made 3 types, a lite bass, a medium (balanced) bass and heavy bass. Which one have you got mate?

@@Cyba_IT , I read that you can tell from the color of the dynamic driver, which in my case is green, and green="light bass", and yes for a long time I did not like the lack of bass in my k330 but now I think it has simply compensated for my loss of high pitch hearing so it's sounding beautiful. In this video the driver grey. But I could be totally wrong about the color scheme significance. Incidentally my unit now has developed a fault where the right cup produces no sound. Hoping it's just a wiring problem so this video showing how to open the cup is just what I need.

No, I didn't notice if it was capable of 230v. Next time I have it open I will check.

the volume would be less but it would be almost imperceptible. to be fair the boom box on its own is somewhat anemic. If you are after better sound quality, go for it.

I'm sure we aren't the only ones that caught this. Mine kept on getting taken down for copyright strike. So I would remix and re-upload. I was trying to see who was copyright striking me as a cheeky who will take the bait kinda video. But alas they wouldn't say who was striking.

That would probably give you all the clearance you need. Honestly any speaker is better than what is in there. If you can find one with a decent frequency response I bet you will be happy with it.

At the top of the speaker hole on the front it is very shallow but you still might be able to get a few millimeters out of it with a spacer with out hitting the grill.

@@ernestomartinez8302 I followed your link and picked up the same speakers you have.

the factory speakers are definitely hot garbage. The speakers I chose offer a very balanced response. Highs are clear, mids are a bit forward bass is tight but I hope to get more bass as the cone losens up. there is always the option of equing to get more bass. As far as i can tell there are no strange artifacts on the amp side to worry about. Hotel California and George Strait's Cover of El Rey sounded very pleasant and natural on par with my studio setup. No Bluetooth artifacts that I hear. It is definitely a mod worth doing to make the radio usable.

@@ernestomartinez8302 alright, you've got me sold. If you were to do it again, would you use the same speakers or would you opt to try something else? Im ready to take the plunge, I hate the distortion the stock speakers give at higher volumes

@@karlp2127 Not a lot of options right now. I did see that these are available but they don't offer a frequency plot for the Highs but the bass should be about the same as the Dayton drivers . www.parts-express.com/GRS-3FR-4-Full-Range-3-Speaker-4-Ohm-292-436. This driver does not inspire a lot of confidence without a Frequency plot.

I measured the mounting hole itself. The factory ones didn't have any mounting flanges so I knew whatever I did would require copious amounts of hot glue (my weapon of choice). The Factory speaker hole was 3 1/4 so I ordered a pair of 3" speakers knowing I would have to cut the flange to make it fit. I also tried to approximate the volume of the box so as to find a driver with with some desirable TS parameters to get at least a little bass. Of course Ryobi isn't going to make any guarantees. None of them are their heads. Ridgid and AEG aren't going to make any guarantees about the Ryobi power base either.

Does Ryobi make any heads? Haven't found a lot of information in that regard. Does Ryobi have a special name for their multi-tool?
