If it's as accurate as Starsense Explorer then it's certainly a much easier and neater solution. Assume it won't be so sensitive about which smartphone is used either.
Will this app work on equatorial mount such as eq3??
Astrohopper does the same for free.
This is great, but $225 US for this is expensive. I was going to order one, but the cost is a bit over the top. Thanks for reviewing!
Hello, I already have this box and I wonder why it must be initialized on stars and not on planets? Because given the weather in my area it would be much easier to spot them, if you had the answer? Thank you
The stars never change position in the sky as the planets do. In the future (maybe tomorrow!), perhaps the built-in in AI guidance system could use date/time and a planetary calendar to allow use of bright stars as alignment targets.
@ indeed! thank you for your feed-back
Did you consider free Astro Hopper website with your phone attached to the telescope?
Interesting but feels over complex. I use the brilliant 'ps align pro' apple app. for just $3.99. Fix it to the dob. Select the object you want to find from its database. Select 'Push to' The app then suggests a nearby bright star. Move the dob to that star. Press align on the phone then the app directs you to the object you are looking for. So simple.
Thank you for such a thorough demonstration. It still seems like a lot of setting up for if I only quick view of the sky. This has put me off using finders like sky commander. I think I will stay using my Klein Tools Digital Angle Gauge and the protractor on the base of my Dobsonian and get the coordinates for Stelarium. The setting up is very quick, point the base of the scope north, done.
Doesn’t look like that much of a faff once you’ve done the first calibration. Aligning the base of a big dob to better than 1 degree north must be a bit tricky? Those digital angle gauges aren’t that cheap either. I don’t do much visual work now but if I did I’d be interested in this little device
Intrigued chris.woudl this work with a long focal length scope like a big dob or sct Mac?
Hi Vic, a colleague tested the MeMstar with a 16" Dobsonian and reported that it worked well, provided a wide-angle eyepiece was used. Based on my own testing, it seems the device works best with an eyepiece capable of delivering at least around a 2-degree field of view. Larger SCTs or Maksutovs might face some challenges achieving this.
Well that seems like a better option to upgrading to a go to mount.
Funny that, i came across this ,but then didn't finish watching it as i was looking at the Sky watcher 250p instead ! Then after a day, i actually searched for the Stella Lyra and i ended up HERE again !!! 😂😂😂
No reason to watch for lackluster equipped SkyWatcher: Dual speed focuser, entry level 2" wide view eyepiece and neck saving RACI finder scope are worth like £200 over SkyWatcher.
@tuunaes BINGO !!! StellaLyra 10 inch Dobs it is ... 😂👍✊
Do yall sell in the State, or just directly from England on the website?
Thanks for the video, i would love to get a Dob Telescope, but I'm next to useless at DIY
Hi Richard, I'm sure you would be fine if you follow the video as you go :)
You mean to tell me that a 10 inch scope doesn't have a 2 speed focuser. I wouldn't own it
? But it does have a 2 speed focuser, which is unlike the Sky-Watcher/Bresser/Celestron 10" Dobsonians which are single speed.
Whilst learning the hobby, I lost a few nights alignments and imaging sessions due to poor power. FLO supplied me a Nevada PSU and I no longer worry about power issues, and can concentrate on getting good alignments and data.
Crikey mate talk about putting it together in a tight space lol, mind you I would think you've had plenty of practice putting them together at the IAS.
lol Yeah, It's a good job I didn't borrow a 12"!
Got 8 inch in my basket waiting, hope there will be some black Friday/Christmas discounts ❤
Did you end up getting the telescope?
@@Amateur_Gamer123 noo, price was the same, can't afford £450...
I have the same scope Chris but I must admit I use my 8"dob more.i took my eyepiece holder of as one night I tried to move the scope with gloves on and stripped the threads on the holder.the 8" is a skywatcher but I will invest in a lazy Susan like the sella lyra.clear skies Vic
Branching out Chris?
Grant asked if I could make a video about putting the Dobs together, and as a perk I'll be enjoying the views for a while :) I've already had nice views of Saturn, the ring nebulae and Andromeda with M110 off to one side.
Well I guess one can always dream about having a master piece. They would make a dream come true and thanks for the tour it was great
Thanks for the vid, lovely to see your range of scopes.
finally I can put a face on whom sends me all the clouds everytime I get a new "toy" 😝
Same..glad to see the crew as they are always so informative & so quick to reply everytime I purchase a telescope, tripod or acessories. Always give great advice as being new to the hobby,it really is helpful when there is so much info out there
Thanks Grant and Chris.
We enjoyed meeting a bunch of you at the show yesterday, however, if you weren't able to join us, I hope you like this behind the scenes tour (before the doors opened). Please remember you can always email us with questions at questions@firstlightoptics.com ,Clear skies!
I really enjoyed your vids on the heritage 150p and this one's great as well. Thanks!
Is it a big difference to use a 2'' focuser instead of a 1 1/4?
może jakiś test przeprowadzisz . Na razie wiemy tylko , że są te okulary w sprzedaży . O ich przydatności i jakości nie wiemy nic
Look like a nice set there Chris
I will have to give these a try in my scopes.
Hi Chris great price look like a good set of eyepieces
this is a great video, short and sharp!
Just bought eq 5 pro. Have 12v power supply. Plugged it in and it began to whistle ...zzzzzz whatever you want to call it. Is this norma ?
thats the motor running, pretty sure its normal, I have the same mount
Love a bit of eyepiece projection
Thank you very much. Hope to get a shot of the corona during the eclipse
Truly great presentation and I (as a newbie) was able to understand everything you said (NOT even close to common on TH-cam films), great pedagogical talent!!! I have a questions regarding your statement about that beginner telescopes might not be able to reach focus due to the design. I am planning to get a Sky-Watcher Explorer 200 PDS to be used with a Canon EOS 70D and an HEQ5 Pro mount. Will I be able to get focus on that setup? Many thanks in advance!
Great teaching video. ❤
Hope you can make more videos like this. This is very good information from my favorite "astrogear pusher" 😍
18V One+ 150-Watt battery 12v power source RYi150CBT
i have a samsung nx 1000 camera a celesteron 130 scope and a barlow lens. also a t ring.for camera. any ideas please.
What adaptors etc did you use in the video, the details aren't in the description?
I have a Canon EOS R50 and an Astromaster 130eq-md. I have a one piece t-adapter/ring that works great with my husband's 80azs, but not at all with mine. I know I'm missing the piece you spoke of to help me achieve focus, I'd appreciate any recommendations. Also, the barlow 2x he has made everything worse. Thank you and your video was very helpful!
I have a XLT 150 Celestron and an m200 when I use a barlow lens the camera does not focus. Also I cant seem to take even a good photo of the moon. any tips?
Thanks Chris!! Just wondering if you can recommend a t-ring for a fujifilm xT-200? I just purchased a refractor and wasn’t sure. Thank you!!
I've just purchased a 10" bresser dob from FLO, ordered it Saturday evening and delivery is due tomorrow I can't wait.
Great video Chris! I'm considering getting a Newtonian. I'm concerned about collimation as I'll be using it a a field scope. I hear an f4 system can be a nightmare and I should stick to a more conservative f5 system. Which one have you got and what are your thoughts? Clear skies Mark
If only every instructional video on TH-cam were this clear and waffle-free. Frankly, I wish the Brits made all the videos of this type. Really appreciated. Thank you!

Hey Chris I follow your astro la vista channel. I just had a question that will the international shipping be safe? because I was ordering a mount to india. this is the first time I am ordering a astrogear from outside the country.
that Adams apple tho
awesome! I didn't know about attaching a barlow lens to the ring. thanks!!!
