      Yes. I have been flying jets a long time. We talk about it as trim because we have rudder trim

    I'll be the jerk. Watching the video we learn the pilot has immense experience with airplanes and military helicopters, though he had ZERO time in this model and they didn't do a walk around or familiarization checklist before takeoff, at least it wasn't mentioned or recorded, just another undocumented fly by the seat of your pant's excursion. The pilot didn't recognize the trim settings and had to be reminded to raise the flaps as he was clearly having trouble climbing well after takeoff. Flying is a great pastime, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news, this is one of the reasons GA as a whole, but typically sport/light sport experimentals crash with so many fatalities. Some pilots just slack off and get lazy thinking they can easily rely on knowledge/experience to aviate, navigate and communicate themselves back to the ground when the unexpected happens. Nothing beats understanding your craft before takeoff. It isn't "sissyfied" to understand or inquire about lessor complex aircraft before opening the cabin door.

      Chris, I would definitely agree with you that there are way too many general aviation and experimental Homebuilt accidents each year. One thing that I would suggest to everyone, if you don’t have experience in make and model airplane, seek out instruction, if it all possible, get training in the airplane before you fly it. As for single seat aircraft, this is more difficult. It’s a well known practice to seek dual in a similar type if possible before flying an unfamiliar aircraft. To reduce the risk in such situations, one can mitigate any additional factors that would apply additional risk. High winds, low ceilings, short unimproved runways, high traffic areas to name a few. I also would suggest that everyone take time to research and read about general aviation and experimental aircraft accidents. Many things can learned from this. The knowledge of mistakes, helps others to prevent making similar mistakes. I also agree there are accidents where individuals have overestimated their abilities, leading to preventable losses. Poor Aeronautical decision making is a major factor in many accidents! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy other videos I have made.

    Yes very strong airplane so my dad actually landed his a tail dragger in a tree. Yes he was about 50 ft up. That plane is so strong all it broke was the propeller wooden prop. All he needed was a crane to get his airplane out of the tree. He hit the last tree before the runway dead stick. He had that happen two times. One time he landed on a sawgrass expressway. Each time it was little fiberglass particles clogging up the fuel filter.

      I have not flow a 2 with the 200hp. I would say a little faster. The airframes are similar

      Thanks, that’s the reason I made the video. There are to many accidents because people don’t understand what’s happening in an unintentional deceleration leading to a stall.

    Seems to have some vibrations noted from cam on tail and in cockpit.... Any idea why?

      There is no tail vibration. The widow slide rod bounces. It’s a harmonic vibration. Something present with most propeller driven aircraft

    While training for my PPL, we practiced stall recovery... ALLOT. I REALLY hated to do this exercise. It felt unnatural to push the plane into a condition it didn't like. Each session mandated after the flight I find the neared liquor store and buy myself some pick-me-up!

    Yes! I've had to contend with that "free castering" nose wheel many times! NOT my favorite thing. I've always preferred to have a steerable nose wheel. But, you can't always "Have the cake and eat it too!"

    I enjoyed Titan Tornado 2 ownership for several years. Fast, comfortable (for the pilot), fantastic view, but very noisy. A lot of bang for buck.

    A wonderful video, Dave. Best explanation of why aileron input makes a spin WORSE that I've ever seen -- also your advice that 'you haven't lost control' just because you've lost roll control is a WONDERFUL idea to pound into pilot's heads. I learned a lot -- and would love a chance to get in a plane with you and practice these techniques in my plane. Congrats.

      The fuel flow at cruise is 7.5 gallons per hour. I do my own maintenance and the insurance is 5000 annually

    Really enjoyed expanding my envelope with my RV6 took a bit to be comfortable with 2G steep turns at first, now I need to dial it back for passengers who are not quite used to the performance the RV has. great video!

    I read somewhere that it helps if you actually look out while doing clearing turns ;P Check the app, then activelly look out =P Trolling a bit here with that. You were showing the plane and did a GREAT job at that. Hooked me when speaking about side loads on the gear. That said, complacency is a witch (starting with a different consonant and all that).

    Great video, love the thoroughness of all the flying characteristics. It really does seem like a great all around airplane. STOL capabilities with 155mph cruise is phenomenal. I was considering a Bearhawk as they can fly fast and slow well but I'm not sure I like the idea of fabric. That being said the bearhawk 2 seat companion has about 400lbs more of useful load, you can add floats, and they say it's possible for a third seat. Decisions Decisions!

    I also have a G1-RG I built myself and do have the extended wing tips with extra fuel. Mine also has the dual sliding canopies for the AC benefits in summer, no regrets not doing gull wings instead. I use 100 mph on final. I am 6'3.5" tall I had to mount the rudder pedals as far forward as possible and still maintain the full range of motion, mounted the seat back and seat pans as far back as possible without cutting into the rear spar and reclined the seat back slightly more than normal. All done because of my height. My engine is an IO360-C1D6 with counterweighted crank, no rpm restrictions. 10:1 pistons flowed ported and cam modified, 245 HP at 2700 rpm. Also 1 electronic ignition from Light speed engineering. Also a Whirlwind CS 3 blade prop. I flight plan 185 kts at 2450 rpm at 10,500 - 12,500 burning about 8.5 gph ROP or 7.9 LOP. I carry about 60 gallons max. Including tips, header and main tanks.
