If it was the case that the English refused to let you use the pound it would mean that whatever currency you used you would pay more for goods. Therefore whatever country bailled you out you would owe them your recovery debt. It might suit those who don't want to go into the European union because it would take a lifetime to get the conditions right for joining.... But why go through all of tbat unless you really hate the English?

I disagree with that point on Scandinavian precariousness. Independence isn't a great leap into the unknown if you seek to be just like the Scandinavians. It's a known! Putting a pint up to £6 isn't tackling alcoholism it's forcing people to drink in the house. Your asking your working class to sacrifice so that your middle class can have a better existence.

I think the problem was Culloden. If Charlie had taken Scotland instead of marching south seeking the crown of great Britain the people of Scotland would have gotten behind him. How can you be passionate about Culloden when his tactics were woeful? His troops deserted him at Glasgow for a pair of trews. If Scotland was independent and you related this truth to your teacher you'd be the rebel.

@@ScottishIndyPodExtra So is Scottish history not relevant to Scotland? Just pointing out that 2014 wasn't the first time Scotland could have broken up the UK. In USA they have HOA, that is technically super local democracy, but it's so small it's a nightmare, that it becomes a system to harm people not in the majority. Democracy doesn't work on the small scale. You end up with a really horrible way to directly harm people you don't like in the local area. Like not renewing the local bars license because it has gay tuesdays.

Roll on the publishing of Salvo's research. If I understand correctly, when that is presented to the UN, some mechanism to allow the Scottish people to say what sort of government they want will happen. Doesn't have to be that magical section 30 or even bothering to get UK permission.

@@ScottishIndyPodExtra YT lost my previous response. I watched Gordon IndyCar's videos and it is through those that I believe that Salvo is nearing completion of their research. Apparently the UK was asked by the UN in the 1950s what the position of Scotland was and they were lied to, and told that Scotland was in a voluntary union. So part of the research is to document how there was no 'voluntary' to it - gunboats off Leith as one example. My understanding is that if the UN feels that there is evidence that the Scottish people want their independence, a mechanism to provide that through some form of a vote will have to happen. Salvo also has YT videos but they don't give dates on their plans.

Salvo has been really good to update its members too - I get regular eMail updates telling me where their work such as against freeports is.

I hear that Labour branch office in Scotland have their own manifesto, separate to their boss's UK one. Huh, what separatists! Anyway, is that acceptable within electoral commission rules? Is it not very misleading given this is a UK election. Obviously some will say SNP manifesto is only pertinent to Scotland so why should Labour branch office not have their own. But as Scotland is not otherwise represented in an autonomous platform by a Scottish party, and as an equal partner in England's UK, 😉 the SNP manifesto is crucial to a UK democratic process. Maybe I'm talking pi*h, though...

Interesting stuff, but avoids the elephant in the room of the changing dynamic of demography in Scotland, the fact that about a fifth of the people who live here aren't Scottish of which the majority seem the place in terms of a consumer product, and a big reason for the drop in snp support is that a lot of working class independence supporters have more in common with the nationalist movements on the continent than the Canada light politics of the movement. But hopefully there's enough space for all at the next Scottish election.

It was the anger at how the rejection of the first referendum was just accepted which then prompted the amazing research by Salvo and Liberation Scotland which is uncovering all sorts of secret lies that went on without public knowledge. That research is building a different path to independence but it isn't really known very well by the public. I wonder whether knowledge of their findings would sway all ages. When I moved to Scotland to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland, Scotland was a-buzz with anti-apartheid and with support for the Polish shipworkers and that attitude was what appealed to me about Scotland. I came from West Virginia, a US state that itself only achieved statehood because Virginia had gone with the Confederacy during the Civil War and so could split to be separate. I fit into Pat's group of older generation that was exposed to a world where independence was possible.

I have sort of come to the conclusion that a major definer between east and west is eastern Europe tends to be Orthodox and western got taken over by the Protestant virus. That 150 years was a bunch of fighting, with World War fatality numbers, over a bunch of nuthin like who cares over some minor difference in interpretation about some Biblical passage. Of course all that disaster was a result of the invention of the Printing Press which occurred in 1450. As we are all learning now that the elites promoted the internet and mass adoption of computers for the end purpose of controlling the minds of the populous, we can look back at the Printing Press as a major first step on that path. Without pamphlets springing up everywhere with contentious interpretations of various dogmas within Christianity, there would have been no need to multiply the various Christian Outlets to fight amongst themselves. When the US wrote out any influence of religion via the government, it was mostly thinking about Christian denominations fighting amongst themselves and the avoidance of that in the public arena. It wasn't even thinking about Islam but nobody ever brings that up

I stumbled into this film that was emanating from her channel, a several months after the fact of this show. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was really feeling sorry for poor Scotland by the end!. I am from the US and over the last few years, I have been scouting the best channels and best tv shows that covered Scandinavia. They seem to have discovered how to do Socialism in a way that works no ifs, ands or buts. They haven't gotten the message so much that you serve the NWO first and your people maybe, but not necessarily, second. Clearly in the US, our politicians seem to have the rest of the world a priority over and above the people it serves. In a country that is still 75% white, it seems to be a government priority to move whites to the back of the line, even behind illegal aliens That virus does not seem to have taken over Denmark, Norway, Sweden or Finland though the politicians do seem to fall in line to the international elites, the inner workings of their system is still well oiled and take the school system where teachers have to be super qualified and make a good wage. That seems to signal how their whole society is doing and I like it. Well, England is an adverse system that survives on the turmoil of its people and the supposed turmoil of the world. That virus, too, doesn't seem to have taken over Denmark. The message is clear. Scotland would be better off free of England like Denmark is free and independent. Watching this show then had me watching her take on Norway and then I Favorited her channel

I am from Denmark, and must say that you three are very inspirational, so is the Scottish Green! It is mind boggling that not every scott is not supporting either them or SNP. I mean for english "immigrants" coming to Scotland, will of course vote against independence, that is only fair, but ... well.. Sorry if my grammar is a bit off :)

When I (a Dane) hear you three discuss, I do get very hopeful? You are open minded and listening to each other, please, women of Scotland, get active, we will certainly welcome you :D
