Harry Crosby was one of the first victims in Friday the 13th. This special didn’t seem Christmasy at all, and the writers should have been fired my goodness what horrible dialogue.

Growing. up in my house hold Bing Crosby was a welcomed guest me and my family grew up with Bing he was like part of our family as well. Miss Bing and his variety shows.

There’s no doubt about it. Even some 45 years after his passing, Bing Crosby plus Christmas makes for a very good show! It’s what we need people to do today.

To my eye and ear, this is NOT mouthed to a playback, there's too many improvised little bits there's no way they could remember. Amazing!

His son is in the original Friday the 13th.

Little did we know, Bing only had one more Christmas left.

Showing Bings scantilly clad wife was embarrassing.

I always knew it was Christmas when Bing’s Christmas Specials hit the airwaves. Harry and Nathenial looked great in their tuxedos and I appreciated that as I also had to wear a tux a lot in high school. I dare say that this type of television is far better than anything they throw out at us now. And back then there were only 3 maybe 4 channels to choose from, not the 200+ that we have now. Most kids would find that very hard to believe.

There was a lot of denim in that one scene with all the kids.

If they ever bring back crooning I'll be sitting in the front row having the time of my life.

It was always a bit exciting to the logo that said “Special”! You knew there was something good coming your way

I attended the same high school as the kids, Burlingame High School. I was in the same math class as Harry, the same biology class as Mary, and on the golf team with Nathaniel. So many years ago!

Real nice performance by Bing. I feel like he had really refined his delivery by this point - as iconic as the originals are - it’s so smooth, relaxed, yet totally confident. I heard the duet with V - it’s not bad, but his vocal is processed, and it becomes more obvious when Bing takes over.

This is a great video. It's missing most of the Young Americans performances, and the Bing/Fred duet with Harry on guitar. Not shown here: The Young Americans belt out such songs as “Time for Living,” “Beautiful City,” and “Love Will Keep Us Together.” . Afterward, Mary Frances asks “Uncle Fred” if he can help her with her dancing. She and Fred sing “Pick Yourself Up.” Then, Mary Frances shows off her moves to “The Continental” and “I’m in Heaven.” That night, getting in late, Harry wakes Bing up at 3 a.m. to speak to his father “man-to-man” about love. Then, Fred joins them and, as Harry plays guitar, the three sing “You’ve Got a Friend.” Later Led by Nathaniel, the youths sing “Christmas Bells are Ringing,” then are joined by Bing and Fred for “Jingle Bells.” Kathryn helps out on “Sleigh Ride,” after which Fred sings “Toyland.” Bing, Fred, and Kathryn reunite for “Let It Snow” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” As the description says "however most of the missing parts can be seen elsewhere on TH-cam".

Wow. Have never seen this. He looks great. Makes me think he died playing golf weeks later simply because he was overheated and dehydrated. RIP Bing
