I just discovered how great Hartmann is the other day, especially his piano music is spectacular, such as this or the sonata in d minor.

Yes, Bortkiewicz was influence by other composers but so what? Every composer was influenced by others. He was probably the last great Romantic before "modern" music rose. Hearing this I think of Brahms (perhaps due to the pianist).
