Chop Vs Bawl Mouth Coondog!! What's the Difference?
How do I start getting my coon dog to load up in the truck it’s like he is scared to jump up
Wow I’ve been coon huntin all my life and I’ve never heard a couple of these ways good video brother thanks
I’ve had redbones, walkers, black and tans but if I had a favorite, it’s probably a redbone. Best hunting dog I ever had was a redbone/cur mix named Ruby. Ruby passed about ten years ago and I lost interest in coon hunting for a while. A week ago I picked up my first Bluetick ever. A 9 week old female I named Abbigail. She’s showing good signs already and I’m glad I stumbled across your videos to help us along. Thanks a lot and keep ‘em treed!
Very nice video. Great information
Appreciate it!
Why do you prefer a 30/20 vs a 24/20 ratio? I have fed a 24/20 for years. And have been considering swapping.
Protein builds and repairs muscle, muscle uses energy, fat burns and turns to energy when working. High protein bigger healthy muscles i.e more performance. A 24/20 would be like eating a side of fat the same size as your meat your having for dinner. Probably not a bad winter feed. I would just say you have to strike a balance between the protein and fat ratio. A high protein low fat like 30/10 a dog would loose weight and be super lean. Low protein high fat like 10/30 a dog would gain weight with no muscle those are just examples don't think they sell feed that mix but 30/20 is for dogs that work consistently. they need the higher quantities of protein to build muscle and fix muscle and they need such a high fat content to u as fuel to create energy. Hope this helps
Looks like a great time buddy 👍
Always a good time getting treed man
Trying to train me one
@slewhunter Tilly's my first squirrel dog I've done i still got some learning to do but we getting there
My dogs were raised on Nutro and they flourished
Not familiar with the brand will have to check out forsure! Thanks for checking out the video
What would you give to an elderly small dog? Thank you for your time.
I would look into the farmers dog dog food. Probably be the best bet. Outside of that look for high protein low fat low carb with lots of vitamins Probly softer and small bites for the small dog aspect
@@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors Thank you.
Not a problem thanks for coming in and checking out the video
What’s your thoughts on topps/valu pak dog food?
Value pak seems to have legit feed lots of options! I think availability is an issue. they don't have a 30/20 that's grain free but the 28/20 seems to be on par with a good back of quality feed
Awesome information buddy, I fed black gold for 20 years or so, but had problems with females not coming in heat, I feed Purina pro plan, not a cheaper feed but worth it in the long road
Heck yeah Purina pro plan seems to be the top of the rung. Hey wanted to thank you for sharing my video the other day got bout 20 subs from really appreciate it
@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors that's awesome buddy! I'm happy to be able to help! 👏👊
💯
Thanks for the info
Not a problem definitely thanks for checking out the video
You should check out extreme dog fuel, their 30/20 is a great feed and less than $50/40lb bag. I feed the 24/20 50lb bag ($45) for my pets & the 30/20 to my hounds which I run 5 nights a week almost year round.
Just looked at it seems like a great mix but no retailers in Michigan. Really appreciate the comment
@@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors yeah, it’s actually made here in Arkansas not 30 minutes from where I live! I discovered it when looking for someone who sold Joy in my area. Since switching over I’ve been trying to get the name out there. Really enjoy your videos by the way
Thank you and yeah that's awesome especially if it's under 50$ for 40lb bag
Great content.. thanks for this list. I will be switching dog foods. Super helpful😊
Greatly appreciate it thank you
I'd like to know why you're avoiding corn. Its widely known that corn free diets are a marketing scheme just like grain free and gluten free. Corn inclusive diets are cheaper because it can be supplied easily in the states compared to rice or potatoes. Also as a hunter why not include raccoon in your dog's diet? Wouldn't that technically be free, unless you eat them yourself? Keep in mind commercial dog food wasn't widely fed until the 80s. Previous to that what do you think dogs were eating for 1000s of years
Corn is a very common food allergy for dogs. There is a difference between a corn based dogfood and dog food that "has corn in it". Alot of cheap/generic dog food has more than one corn product in it and it is used a filler. Just so happens that I believe that meat protein based dogfood is way better fuel than corn because it just flat out is especially talking about a 30/20 mix which is a formula for dogs that work hard frequently or even non stop. 30/20 is more expensive in all cases and it avoids you spending extra on essentially corn that's beef flavored. Lots of very legitimate reasons to avoid corn when talking about performance blended dogfood I even said In this video that not all dog food with corn is bad. I greatly appreciate the comment but I'm just not wrong here and there is still a whole list of dietary reasons to still be listed in the favor of avoiding corn based feeds
Very nice video. Some great information. Thank you for sharing.
Yes sir had to do some research on this one
@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors Very good information
Thank you
Coons have always moved at different times of the night sometimes early and sometimes late js
Forsure
Thank you
James is great. I always learn something new from him.
Yeah was definitely good talking to him
Hey, I'm still here and still relearning everything I thought I knew 30 years ago. This 4 month old male bluetick pup is giving me a run for my money, not in a bad way. He's just stubborn and independent and is a true character. Went out with a friend and his black & tan and brought home a coon to work with him. Next morning early in the dark I laid a 30/40 yard drag and ran it up a tree, let him out and he found the track on his own ran it and treed on it like it was his job. Talk about a proud moment, I don't think he's going to be to hard to get started. He seems to have a lot of natural instinct, that nose never leaves the ground. I think for now I may just let him be a pup and start working him more seriously in the spring when the mulberries are on.
Definitely sounds like a good one
Squirrels do it too! When training Bailey the squirrels learned if the dog chased them up the tree and started barking they’d better get to timbering out because if they were within eyesight of that tree they were getting shot at.
Pressure will definitely make em do odd stuff whether it be move deeper come out later
Great video.
Thank you glad you liked it it's a longer one
Watching now, raccoons are getting educated 😅
Hey buddy, I'm looking for the right female to breed to my young hound, when I do I'm gonna do a giveaway! I'll keep ya posted!
Some are smart some ain't lol
@@mikeumphrey-waytogokennels2526I'll let these guys know
Great podcast i really liked hearing the different types of training and things to understand and try with my young dogs to succeed I would enjoy more podcast like this one Keep up the good work Thanks
Yeah absolutely I thought this one was a great as well hopefully I can get him back on for round 2
Great podcast. I really enjoy listening to other people's advice on training dogs. Thanks for sharing.
Makes us all the better I think
Git ur ass back to Michigan and we will go drop the tailgate. It's been awhile. Nice video brother
U got some dogs to run?
Great video. Thanks for the information
Not a problem just never know what needs to be out there so covering all I can
Seems like getting younger dogs to tree is getting harder anymore, finding that happy medium is what we're looking for!
@mikeumphrey-waytogokennels2526 I could imagine I know those super tree minded dogs was a big thing a while back
i went hunting with a friend who had dog whoyou could not be caught untill they tree i call them stright liner they just keep run ing till they find a coon an his dog tree about a mile away from us an they had a coon my dog tree 3 coon on the way to his dogs i wordk with my dog in the wood they tree lay up coons an deep long runing coon if a dog keep geting deaper an deaper in the wood i dont want that dog i want a dog that hunt WITH ME NOT A DOG I HAVE TO HUNT DOWN AN LOOK FOR
if you want a good coondog walk your dog your dog is to hunt with you are not to hunt for your dog when your dog start treeing he will tree on his on
Very in depth video on this topic. Thank you helped me out.
@@jakekimmell7215 awesome deal glad it had what you needed
Your opinion on hunting lightly started dogs on bucket feeders? Ive heard they help and I’ve also heard it makes them dependent on a bucket. What’s your opinion on them?
I have a video on feeders. Might have to dig thru the playlist to find it. Check it out let me know what u think.
awesome just found your channel this morning! been watching your videos all morning waiting on the food. lol thanks for the super quick response!
That's awesome man glad you like the content. And not a problem thanks for reaching out. If you haven't yet check out the Facebook group too.
@ joined it yesterday 🤙🏽
@jakekimmell7215 sweet glad to have you over there forsure
Most deer hunters are ignorant of coon hunting.
Some guys just have a lane and mine is coonhunting forsure
Huh? Public ground is just that. We pay twice as much as deer hunters (basic hunting license+furtaker). Private ground is one thing, I stay off of it during deer season. Public ground is your right just as much as theirs, they can pound sand.
Mighta got some wires crossed bout what I said
Great video, I really appreciate the heads up on the gut piles I hadn’t even considered it.
Oh yeah they are definitely out there
Some deer hunters around where I'm at don't like coon hunters at all. Sure is funny how the deer are more afraid of a hound than the coyote, hard to believe there's still any deer in the woods at all. LOL!!!!
It only makes sense if the dog is actually running deer
Why do dogs take to deer so easy? Even without training
Big and easy to chase usually it's a sight reaction to them taking off I mean some dogs could care less about a deer just depends
@@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors My pup luckily hasn't chased a deer yet, but he sure loves to make a quick snack of some deer sh!t. You just can't stop 'em.
😂 they love it 😂😂
Another great video. I really enjoy them. A few years ago I had a fiest that would tree squirrel's during the daytime and would absolutely tree a coon at night
That's what I'm hoping for Tilly if I'm being honest deer season has taken to steam out of training for her
@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors Keep on with her training.
@@mikeparr5295 I will definitely figure something out
I dont know if your mic needs a piece of foam on it or its a empty room your in recording or its my cheap ear buds but it sounds like there is a echo. Just trying to help out. Love the videos. I want to listen to all of your coonhounds videos
This may be a video I was trying out a mic hopefully it's not every video sounds like that for you glad you stopped in thanks for dropping a comment
Love all your videos man
Really appreciate it man thanks for checking out the videos
Man this was a good one!
Thank you and Yes sir I thought so too
Great podcast. Really enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it I thought I went pretty good
@MalbrookHoundTrainingOutdoors I agree.
A lot of good points he brought up that I'm glad got covered
I had the same thought the first time you held up that collar on the diodes. What do they call that thing? Satan's pitchfork. LOL.
😂 yeah a lil over done forsure for a extra large breed dog it might not seem so bad but definitely don't look comfortable
Great review. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure
Thank you, what is a good coon squaller now? I used to use a falks or something like that.
Keep these videos coming! I have some young dogs that I am working with and I have been using alot of your content for a base and modifying it to my pups needs.
That's great I hope you can find enough on the channel if not feel free to reach out thank you
Thank you for the shout out! Smoke is doing really good. We finally been able to get back to hunting after Helen. Couple things I need some advise on. He wants to pull up tree to quick and slick sometime. I can always tell when he trees and it not right. I been pulling him off and just see if he pick up the track. Next thing I’m trying get him hunt more than 100 yards. That tends to be his zone he don’t really want go any further out only if he running a track but not to find a track. He still work in progress. But over all be year old he doing great! Thanks and keep up the awesome work on here.
Actually not that bad for that age been doin great for while now
Thanks for the videos I'm working my 2 young dogs 3 nights a week still treeing in ground dens a lot ,but i have had two good trees and one caught on the ground Looking forward to your next video
Heck yeah man
Another awesome video man! The ripples thing has been so apparent with Bailey. One problem I created myself was I only gave her woods walks in the daytime which I contribute that to being the reason she had a hard time ranging out at night, another problem was me not walking through the woods a lot with her but walking the fire lanes that bordered them because it was the path of least resistance. Both of these issues will be addressed off the bat when I get a male pup.
Yes sir beds are easy to make lol got a little of that goin on with Tilly
Thanks for shout out love the videos
No problem thanks for checking out the video
Great advice. As always great video. We are working a young dog now. It is very rewarding to see him go thru his training.
