On Saturday evening, 13 April 2013, the 'Ibaad-u-Ragmaan Qadiri Jamaa’ah contributed towards the dynamics of Islam and Cape Muslim religious life when they engaged in adhkar at the Daar-un-Na’iem Masjid in Castletown Road, Wynberg, Cape Town.

The ’Ibaad-u-Ragmaan Qadiri Jamaa’ah converged on Masjid-ul-Waqaf in Kimberley, South Africa by bus, car and air during October 1999 in remodelling its adhkar brief once more. Enraptured by the Qadiriyyah dhikrullah, the former mining town’s Muslim fraternity treated the Jamaa’ah to a glowing welcome, a warm stay and a hearty farewell. Imam Yusuf Gallant and his family too, were on cloud nine. ...

Throughout their lives they remember Allah. And when they die, they remember Allah. When they are questioned in their graves, they remember Allah. In the next life, they remember Allah with those whom they love. On the Day of Rising, God Willing, they will remember Allah. When they journey over the Bridge that spans the Abyss on the Last Day, they will remember Allah. When they show their books in their right hands filled with good deeds on the Day of Distress, they will remember Allah. When their actions are weighed on the Day of Reckoning, they will remember Allah. When they drink from the Cistern on the Day of Gathering, they will remember Allah. When they gain the intercession of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the Day of Testimony, they will remember Allah. When they enter Heaven on the Day of Account, they will remember Allah. When they see how very many of them had made it into Heaven without being Questioned on the Day of Decision they will remember Allah. When the ’Ibaad-u-Ragmaan see their Creator the Most High on the Day of Conclusion, they will remember Allah.
Looking at the ’Ibaad-u-Ragmaan Qadiri Jamaa’ah reminds me of the story called Birds in Formation: Birds in Formation Birds flying in formation always get where they’re going seventy-one per cent faster than if they went individually. The birds at the back of the flight honk to encourage the ones in front to do their very best. Extra wind generated from the beating wings of the bird ahead of it provides a bird with extra lift. A flock braves predators and inclement weather to reach its destination. If a bird drops out of formation, it will try as hard as it can to join the flock later. When a leading bird gets tired, it drops out of the lead and shifts further back in the formation. Another bird always moves up and takes the lead. Should one of the birds be injured, or becomes ill and leaves the formation, two other birds will drop off and stay with it until it recovers, or dies. The two birds will then catch up with the original formation. A flock flies as fast as the weakest bird. The progress of the flock improves when faltering ones drop out.
How very beautiful! The ’Ibaad-u-Ragmaan Qadiri Jamaa’ah is living proof that the remembrance of Allah is the greatest thing.
With hundreds of men, women and children, these Sufis have busied themselves with adhkar for many generations. Descended from slaves, it’s remarkable how the ’Ibaad-u-Ragmaan Qadiri Jamaa’ah has worshipped, survived, and remained buoyant despite huge religious challenges, and major political and social change in South Africa. Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
