Metal Detecting with Chris
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 ก.ค. 2012
I got my first metal detector for Christmas in 1987. It was a White's Coinmaster 5500. For the next 15 or so years, my father and I hunted the nearby parks in Central Florida, finding enough pocket change to pay off the detector many times over.
In 1996, I headed over to one of my usual parks and was initially sad to see it under construction. The gravel parking lot and adjacent basketball court were removed and graded. Then it occurred to me... maybe I should check there for some old coins. Prior to that, I only had one silver coin (Roosevelt Dime), a few dozen wheat cents, and one Indian Head cent (1898). Well, I hit the jackpot! Over the next few days, my Dad and I found dozens of silver coins and other old coins!
I gave up the hobby for a while when i started driving a truck in 1999, but I recently got back into it now that I live in Wisconsin. I am very excited to find so many old coins up here! Watch my corny videos, and share in my excitement over the next find!

Metal detecting 6/1/24 & 6/7/24. Last hunt at the awesome permission! More old coins!
These are the final two hunts (6th and 7th) at the "Big White House" permission with a big wrap-up of all my better finds. I had hunted all the property by this time, so I went back over the more productive areas more carefully. So much found on about 1/2 acre. Starting a new permission 6/22/24! Thanks for watching!

มุมมอง 7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Saturday, May 11, 2024, was one of my best hunts ever. This was my 4th time hunting the permission I call the "Big White House". Several records were broken that day, including most Indians in a day, oldest coin for denomination, and a never before dug variety!
Metal detecting 4/27/24. Indian Head Cents, silver dime, and silver ring! Live digs too!

Metal detecting 4/19/24 & 4/20/24. Silvers and Wheaties!
มุมมอง 702 หลายเดือนก่อน
These hunts were fairly short, so I didn't go far away from home. On the first day, I had some surprising finds in a small field right across the street from my house! On the 2nd day, I spend about an hour or so at a park that I've hunted before and found an obvious signal that turned out to be another silver dime! How did I miss it before???
Metal detecting 4/5/24 & 4/8/24. 3 mini hunts! 1887 Indian Head Cent!

This hunt started off in a town about an hour from home where some major construction was about to begin. I was all dressed up, ready for dinner with some friends. Only a small sidewalk corner was removed for gas main servicing, and the dirt was spread out. It was very muddy! At one point, I lost both my boots in the mud and had to dig them out, but it was worth it! Look at what I found in the ...
Metal Detecting 3/15/24 & 3/30/24! First two hunts of the year and with a NEW detector!

These are my first two hunts of 2024. After my Whites V3i died a few years ago, I finally splurged on a new machine! These two days had some surprises in store! The last location was the first trip of many at a permission that I called the "Big White House". It eventually surpassed my expectations!

I understand !
So many Buffalos You got Buffed on this hunt.. Cool Video and Awesome Scores.. Happy Hunting .Peace
The worst thing you can do is rub the dirt off a coin. You can potentially ruin the numismatic value by hundreds off dollars if not more. Immerse the coin in water and GENTLY agitate the coin with a very soft brush such as an old barber's shaving brush.
Nice! I've had my share of coin spills but never old coins like that. Definitely spilled many, many decades ago. 😊
Great video, I enjoyed your find
Thanks for watching! I try to capture the moment.
Watching you rub dirt over those coins makes me cringe, bud. Scratch City! 🤔
I presume you're referring to copper and nickel. They'll never be worth much just from the environmental damage from the ground. If you cringe from me rubbing them, you will faint if you saw my more extreme methods at home for the super crusty ones.
Among the best finds I've seen of youtube metal detectorists, congratulations!
Thanks! I appreciate that!
Which eqinox are you using? 900?
It's the Manticore.
Awesome finds, especially the spill. I have found a lot of the same coins, but one at a time, never all in one hole. I would have nutted up if I found that. Great job.
Can u please let m3 know model number of metal detector? Thank you
I use a Minelab Manticore
Great haul! Congrats on your finds. Very nice.
Last year was my first full year was last year of detecting at 55 years old😂. My first old coin? 1891 V. On a $100 detector lol. 1861 half dime! Such a fun hobby
Nice little hunt, With the parks probably hunted out , keep getting those permissions from those old houses, since I have seen your May videos, thats the ticket.😊
Great finds. Definitely a great day detecting. Congrats!👍
I was wondering when a Barber dime or quarter would appear. I think those places you have been hunting are virgin or semi Virgin I would keep getting the permissions on the houses, if they have never been hunted, God only knows what you could find. At least more of what you have been finding. Should be some seated coins around there , I am sure.😊
Nice spill, I,m thinking that yard has not been detected much or really good. Because I don,t think a good detectorist would of missed that spill. Kept hoping for you to find a Barber Quarter or dime with it. But alot of people have never found a 5 variety spill, 100plus yrs. Old. Looking forwards to more videos. Researching old maps is always a good idea, and hit that yard again.😊
Thanks! I'll be back there again this Saturday! That yard is pretty trashy. It's taking me a long time to cover that half acre or so. I think a lot of hunters are discouraged after a few minutes of it. It's slow going around there, but the patience is worth it!
New subscriber, i would be just as excited finding that coin spill for sure!! Great hunt and looking forward to more hunts. I see you are using the 15", is that a 900 Equinox? I run a 900 and Manticore and love both of them. 👍👍👍
Congrats on your finds. Way to go!
Thanks! Hopefully I'll find more soon!
Great hunt! Great location…. Those old lots by other old homes always have potential… thanks for sharing.
No excuses needed… never apologize or be afraid to show your excitement…. That was a great find! I like these small sub channels because you are more realistic to what the rest of us are like when we hunt. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for nice comment!
Great hunt. I found two V nickels and a barber dime in the same hole. The signal made I look long I thought I was digging trash I went nuts lol. New subscriber and glad I found you.
Thanks! That spill set the bar pretty high. Lol. The last two hunts at that yard were special to me. I'm happy with the occasional wheat cent. Hopefully I'll have more surprises next Saturday!
Spectacular day. Great bunch of bucket lister for sure. Thanks for the video
Great hunt - congrats. Love detecting yards at old houses.
Awesome finds! 😎 Congratulation! 🙂 I had a similar situation a couple of weeks ago where I found 4 buffalo nickels 1 Indian head cent and my first V nickel from 1890 and man was I geeking out 😅 Oh by the way thanks for letting us know about the different types of nickel varieties. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing and happy hunting! 👍🏽😎
Nice hunt. Thanks for sharing. Great assortment of finds. Super 7 coin spill.
Nice hunt. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on your Barbers and all other finds. Going to look for your other hunts at this permission. Looks like a two piece Waterbury button. Examine back of button for the manufacturer name. New subscriber.
Thanks for the tip on the button! I'll look at it when I get back home. Cheers!
Nice hunt, looks like you git a great place to detect.
I have never found any old coins except for Wheaties. Congratulations.
Nice hunt. I subbed your channel also
New sub here. Enjoyed your hunt very much. I have only been metal detecting for a year, my oldest coin is a 1906 Indian Head Penny. Was shocked when I got home and was cleaning my coins and an Indian popped out.😊👍
Heck of a spill - congrats
I have been metal detecting for about 12 years, haven’t found V nickel and 1900 Indian head cent. Congratulations on a surprise of a hunt with that old coin spill
some great finds! congrats. enjoying your fvideos
What a hunt. Wicked coin spill. I would be jumping around and acting like a kid. You are on some good land for these old coins.. Happy Hunting. Peace
New subscriber awesome coin finds congratulations Chris
Awesome spill!
Man I always get excited over coin spills! I've been digging for about 4 years now. I get excited when I see Rosie dimes lol
Great Hunt, I would have been going nuts finding that many in the same hole. Good hunting.
Yeah. Nothing like that ever happened to me before. You never know what you're going to find metal detecting!
nice finds! i found 2 Indian head pennies last week in my yard that i have detected probably 20 times! just digging trashier tones. 1892 and 1907. im in northern Wisconsin. thanks for sharing
Way to go! They're fun to find!
Glad your video was in my recommended section! Very cool finds bro
Thanks for watching!
Amazing Finds Brother!
The issue I have is 1-the rocks will damage, 2-vinegar changes the color from red to a goldish color! I would never ever do this to coins that have extreme value! If you have a method to clean pennies that cover my issues I am all ears! Thanks!!!! !!!!!
I certainly wouldn't recommend any coins with numismatic value be cleaned by any means. This process is just to make pocket change appear normal to make it easier to spend or cash in.
Reminds me of that Shake Weight from years ago lol
Great video did you do the same thing with the pennies?
I did, but I didn't film it. They turned out pinkish orange. I'm sorry it took 2 years to realize you sent me a question. Lol
Nice silver
Thanks for your sub my friend ! nice week 😎🥂👍🥂🔆🌈✔🔆 Stay connected 🔆🔆😷🥂👍🥂🥂😎🙏🔆👍✔
Thanks for the video. I didn't want to go buy a rock tumbler. I am going to try this today. Just got to go get some gravel.
What was your results? I do not want to buy a rock tumbler either.
@@stozo04 Didn’t have much luck so I bought a rock tumbler from Harbor Freight it it worked really well.
Great hunt
Great start to the year indeed !!!
Now that was cool !!!
