I’ve been watching moss and linen stitch tutorials for a few days now. Yours by far is the most helpful and thoroughly done. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I appreciate it. Now I can make a gift I’ve been trying to get started on in this stitch. 😊
@@JMLK_ART Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind comment! I'm so glad you found my tutorial helpful. 🥰
Great tutorial!
Very nice I like it
Thank you !!
You have an awesome way of teaching. So easy to follow. Would you please tell us how you got the nice border around the finished one you have pictured in this video? It gives it such a nice neat finish. Thank you!
@brendasewandsew3634 The border on the square shown is just a simple single crochet border to even up the edges. 😊 So, I chained 1, turned and placed 1 sc in each stitch across. Then I chained 2 and worked down the side, placing 1 sc in the side of each row. Chained 2 and worked along the bottom of the chains, placing 1 sc in each chain along the bottom. Chained 2 and worked up the last side, placing 1 single crochet in the side of each row. Then, finally, I chained 2 and slip stitched to the first sc made in the round to close. 😊
@@theloopholefox2878Thank you so much for answering my question so quickly. ❤

I love this video! You explained how to do it very well. Your technique of teaching is really good. Explaining why you do things a certain way made it easier. Thank you for the video

Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad you liked it 🥰
Awesome. Thank you so much. Your calm voice and style also helps receive the information and retention of the pattern.
Oh gosh, thank you so much 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
You teach this so well! Learning the anatomy and the "why" of this stitch makes it so much easier to understand. I love how slowly you teach and not just speed through it like some other videos I've watched. The ends always give me anxiety and most of the time they end up wonky LOL. I had given up on any stitch other than a straight single stitch. Thank you for taking the time to really teach it!
Oh my gosh, you're so welcome and thank you for so many compliments! I'm glad that my tutorial was helpful for you 🥰 I think teaching style matters so much when it comes to learning something new. I hope you feel confident to learn other stitches now! 😊
Rachel I really liked your video and pictures. The instructions for the even moss stitch is excellent and I am looking forward to trying it. God Bless you!
Thank you so much for your compliment. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 💕 Shannon
hello! thank you so so much for this helpful video. I am wondering approximately how many yards of yarn are needed for the full tote? thank you xoxo
The pattern uses Medium (4) cotton yarn. For Color A, you'll need approximately 150 g/ 225 yds/ 5.3 oz. For Color B, you'll need approximately 80 g/ 120 yds/ 2.9 oz. The amount of yarn, as well as the yarn I used, is also listed on the left hand side of the video starting at 2:28 😊

Love this pattern…..great video! I can’t wait to get started…thanks!
Very nice tutorial, nice manicure, pretty hands, is that silly to say? thank you for a well thought out video with clear verbal instructions. A couple years ago I worked a crochet blanket while recovering from a bad broken ankle. I call it my drug blanket as I was taking awful pain management meds and can’t for the life of me remember what the pattern was called. I made lots of mistakes, but I finished it. This will be my third crochet blanket, because this pattern is doable and so pretty! I feel very confident with your excellent teaching style. And I’m writing down this pattern name, juusst in case I forget!
Oh my gosh, thank you for all of your lovely compliments! You have put a big smile on my face. 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial! And I hope that your ankle is all healed up and doesn't cause any further problems. 💕
@@theloopholefox2878your tutorial is excellent! Will you be making more? I crochet best when I can refer to TH-cam video for support. You teaching is spot on!!!!
@lisaamrhein4828 Oh gosh, thank you 🥰 I do plan to make more! I moved a while back and unfortunately have moved to an area that is very loud and that background noise shows up on videos/makes it very difficult to film. I am currently in the process of mitigating that and I hope I'll have it all worked out by the new year. 😊
My daughter is able to making crocheting easily for her, Thank you loopholefox
Oh yay! This brought such a big smile to my face. I'm so glad she's finding it easy! 🥰
You explain it so well! I was about to give up but then I watched your tutorial and I finally got it! Thank you!
Oh gosh, I'm so glad my tutorial helped! It's such a beautiful stitch, it would be a shame to give up. Thank you for taking the time to let me know it helped you! 🥰
Love this bag ❤ will be making several for friends & family! Thank you for great tutorial 😊
Thank you so much! 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 💕
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! I was having trouble understanding where to put the single crochet and this helped me so much. I am a true beginner and I really appreciate the work you have put into your tutorials.
Oh my gosh, thank you for your kind comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial - it makes it so worth the effort when it helps people. 🥰
Thank you so much. I’m past my beginner staged but your thorough explanation and use of stitch markers still helped a lot. This is the third moss stitch tutorial I’ve watched and each used different chain counts for wither the first row or turning chains. Your explanation has helped me decide not just WHICH technique I will use (definitely yours) but also WHY I would choose one over the others.
I'm so glad you walked away from my tutorial feeling confident to make a decision like that! There are definitely many ways to start this stitch and none are wrong, there's just one that works best for us. Even if you didn't use this way, I'm happiest that you feel confident to make the decision 💕
I am making this blanket, can’t wait to finish it. Love the stitch and your teaching technique was easy to follow.
Oh thank you for your kind comments 🥰 I'm so glad you're enjoying it!
I love this stitch, thanks you for sharing
You do the best tutorials!
Oh gosh, thank you! I'm so glad you think so 🥰
Oooh I'm looking for a beginner idea to create something for my mom. Perfect!
Moss stitch is a great option! Relaxing once you get into it and such a pretty look when finished! 😊
Great demonstration, thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind comment 💕
I was given a Merino wool yarn (4). Will that work for this bag?
You could use Merino Wool but I wouldn't recommend it for a couple of reasons. First, wool stretches more than a cotton yarn does, so the bag would end up stretching out significantly faster. You could line the bag with fabric to avoid the stretch. Cotton is typically more durable for usable items and can hold up against the wear that bags will take better than a wool or acrylic will. With wool, you might see a lot of fuzziness happen or "yarn halo". Merino is an especially lovely wool which I have used for items like beanies and scarves. Wool is fantastic for projects like that. I know this likely isn't the answer you're looking for but I hope it helps! 💕
I cannot get the pattern to work out to 128 stitches on the full blanket count. I'm always off by 2. I have watched the video twice and made a swatch that works out but not on the full blanket. What am I doing wrong?
Where do you lose the 2 stitches? When you chain 129 and then work Row 1, do you end with 128 stitches? Is it in Row 2 that you end up with 126?
I’m losing the stitches on the CDC
@kateapostalon8356 Okay, it may have to do with the stitch placement. If you'd like to send a picture of your work, sort of close up so I can see the stitch placement, I can help identify what's going on. If you also could also send pictures of the start and end of the row, that would be great! My email is shannon@theloopholefox.com. With pictures, I can really dig in and put arrows where I notice things. 😊
Great tutorial with the stitch markers-I’m a beginner.. Many thanks.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
Hello! I am obsessed with this stitch! You explain it so well. However, I am having a problem with losing stitches on each row. I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. Any idea what could be going wrong? Also, where did you get your hook? Love it 😍
Which row are you losing stitches on? The crossed double row or the single crochet row? That will help. It's likely coming either from missing putting a single crochet in the top of the turning chains on the crossed double row, which count as a stitch. If you're losing stitches on the crossed double row, it may come from skipping one too many stitches. You can email me close up pictures and I can take a look. 😊 My email is shannon@theloopholefox.com. My hook is a Furls Streamline Swirl! It is the Cookies N Cream colorway but they've discontinued this color. There are a ton of gorgeous hook colors, though! 😊
@@theloopholefox2878 it seems to be on the first row of the double cross stitches, sometimes the second. I seem to lose a stitch per row. I have started and restarted about 5 different swatches. I’ll snap some pics in a few. You can see one side start to recede due to the stitching. Love the stitch, one side edge is killing me! 😆
Amazing tutorial thank you!!
Thank you 😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

WoW! Love how easy you taught this. Thank you for making this video. I am enjoying learning all these new stitches!!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 😊
You’re an excellent teacher! Thank you!!!!
Oh thank you so much, how kind of you! I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial! 🥰
My stitches look like v stitches!!! Help!!!!
If the stitch is worked properly, the second double crochet (which is worked in the skipped stitch) will wrap around the post of the first double crochet. Because of this wrapping, the crossed double crochets can look sort of similar to a V stitch because this wrapping of the post is low in the stitch. As long as you have skipped 1 stitch, placed a double crochet in the next stitch and then gone back and placed 1 double crochet in the skipped stitch, it is a crossed double and not a V. If you're a tight crochter with a tight tension, they may look more like a V stitch, as well. With some practice getting used to the new stitch/technique, the tension will likely loosen a bit and they'll look more like X's as well. I hope this helps! 😊
