Components: - Salvaged 1/5hp AC motor from a whole-house exhaust fan - 4 pillow block bearings ($9.95 each on eBay) - Fan belt ($9 from Farm & Fleet) - 3/4" FIP black iron pipe ($6.50 for each 2' piece at Menards) I had to grind 1/16 of an inch off the circumference of each end of the iron pipes to get them to fit inside the 1" bearings. I had to buy four 3/8"ID x 7/8"OD ball bearings on eBay for $2.65 each. Everything else was purchased at a Menards. The All-thread diameter was limited by the chuck capacity of the $20 drill, but it is sufficient. - Check out the bigger and better Mark II Rock Tumbler here: th-cam.com/video/j8uzk681Fco/w-d-xo.html .

👍👍👍
nice, but is it in a deep underground basement or do you just not sleep with the 249 noise decibels?
How does the drill drive the canister? Is it friction drive? What kind of bit does the drill drive?
How long before the drill Burns up, and how much does your electric bill go up running that 24/7
How many hours it took to burn that drill???
Muhteşemsin aradığımı buldum
The drills gonna burn out, start a fire and burn down your house. 🔥😬
Dave Barry sent me here. He marched with the Rangers in this parade and wrote about it in his latest book, Lessons from Lucy.
gostei e vou fazer uma igual eu estou começando mas ja tenho materia prima .
Running a little fast.
Could I use this as a ball mill
Too painful to watch. The only thing worse than a dumbass hick is someone trying to act like one. I hope that was acting.
I'm from Brazil I signed up for your Channel You can subscribe to my Channel? Thank you.👍
Hey, it works! So, well done! But one suggestion - it will run more efficiently (less slippage) if you reverse the spin, or put the drive belt to the other rod. Because of the spinning action, the rocks and media usually stay bunched up on one side of the drum, so if you can get that weight over your drive rod, you'll get more grip. Otherwise, it's a beaut!
Nice.. had a good laugh when u put the rocks in the jug (thanks I needed that). well done:)
I love it! Cheap, ingenious and simple innovation. Bravo!
I think it would have been much cheaper to have purchased a used treadmill.
noisy as shit but where is the grout? looks like they are in only water
How long before the water bottle get a hole worn into it?
your using my design
is the belt on backwards?
Well, I love the water bottle idea as a drum, but, the drill will not hold up and it uses too much electricity. If you could find a 1 or 2 amp motor, then you would be in better shape. Thanks for the vid.
can u post like a written step by step instructions on how to make this ? and all the needed material please
Mmmmm K
What kind of pulley did you put on the 3/4" black pipe ?
you need to fill your jug about 3/4 full and have your water just covering the stones, it will give you a better agitation and nicer stones, i use the small 3 gallon jugs and they work awesome, to close off the end just get a peice of scrap rubber like from rubber roofing and place it over the end, then clamp a hose clamp on just under the top of the lip and pull the rubber tight before you tighten it all the way down and bam you got one awesome tumbler. we use have several of these going at our warehouse to tumble pet wood and aquamarine and they work just as good as a 500+ dollar tumber, we still use a real tumbler base. just be careful that drill your using dont catch fire. really you should use a regular motor and some metal rods with shaft collars and pillow bearings. hope it helped ya. great idea with the jug though, it sure beats spending hundreds on a real tumbler drum
I like this video. I know it's older, but works great. I do have a problem with the one I am building. HOW DO I GET A 1.060 IN. DIAMETER BLACK PIPE TO FIT INTO A 1.000 IN. BEARING BLOCK? Do I have to find a machinist to polish them down? Thanks!
GP Gibson You're not going to fit that extra 0.06" into that bearing. You have to machine it down to 1.000" but it's likely more expansive than to just buy a 1.000" standard than to make someone machine for you.
WINNER
a friend of mine did the same thing just smaller with a paint can and kitchen mixers
I love the idea, i used a 240V servo motor, and it did wonders. thanks
Cool idea if I did something like that I make a sound proof box with to fans still cool idea
i wonder how long it takes to polish if you arent using all 4 grits?
is this guy for real or is this his "stage persona"??
potty mouth sexist yokel hahahahahahahahahah huh ?
so did you ever get a vid or a pic of the end result? what kind of grit did you use and what were you doing this for?
Drills we use on construction sites are heavy duty. The operating stress on those drills are constant and more demanding. Cheap parts-simple an effective.Love it!
brooms up
possibly the best youtube videos (part 1 & 2) I've seen in a LONG time!!! Thanks for sharing...
can you say Red Green! Thanks for sharing - this is an awesome vid!!!
thanks for sharing! Now I have yet another project to create!
Great video! Love the accent! Keep it up, yo! I want to see the finished product. Hopefully I'll be tumbling some rocks soon :)
This guy .....hmmmm ROCKS!!!
flat axle. v belt turned inside out is....wait for it... a flat belt!
wow great vid, great suspenders, great accent. i wish this guy was my neighbor!
But it takes about a week to polish a good lot of stones with 3 different grits and cerium oxide. Pretty sure the drill motor will die!
Did the plastic bottle get noticeably worn out or thinned after a while?
I have never laughed so much over a vid. You should be on the telly. Stereotyping a character? you are the clone of an expectation of hillbilly, com! The comments here are just as funny. Thankyou for this instructive video. The bit where the rocks get stuck and the water level explanation are truly incitive.
That's a fire waiting to happen haha.
awesome
How did you calculate $200 of electricity? around here that is about 3000 KW.hours worth. The equates to probably 30,000 hours of this drill running at that power setting of 100 watts or so. And that is a conservative rating too.
