    The blue barrel will vent air I assume. That should be good for the water arriving at the turbine I think.

    Don’t understand why you have put in that blue drum… has no fuction, only pressure loss. Better to have sediment venting just before turbine

    Question: Why add that 90-degree angle to the main jet when you can have it go straight into the jet for more pressure?

    A silt filter barrel should never be located in the drop section of a drive pipe, resulting in loss of head pressure. In best practice the free water level of the silt filter barrel is the start height of the drop section of your drive pipe. Relocating the silt filter barrel up the hill next to the collection will increase the head pressure and so also your power output at the generator.

    The goal IS as much water pressure as gravity can produce, by venting the blue drum you are losing efficiency / power. Obviously you need to re-engineer and improve that lid and even the barrel perhaps.

    your going to want a second outlet and nozzle for high and low flow times, also a bigger diameter pipe to the barrel when you move it wouldn't be a bad ideal to build more head pressure.. The pipe S curved across the field is a interesting way to help build more fall pressure, nice.. Is that under load pressure..? I do worry about ice build up in your set up in the winter time, but you have many months to deals with that possibility

    • @matthewagee4214
      @matthewagee4214 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chad. A second nozzle would be a great addition. The pipe is buried in the next video. Yes, running about 65 to 67 psi dynamic pressure with the turbine running. Last month we went below -15 degrees Fahrenheit and had no ice build up. I was pleased with that.

    • @davidallcock3981
      @davidallcock3981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How does the S pipe create more fall pressure? Surely the increased length creates more friction and therefore reduced flow rates?

    You can leave both controllers on as the 12v system will charge first when upto voltage the controller will release the pull down on turbine and the 24v system will charge that or have a mppt between the 24v and the 12v or even a 2nd turbine one 24v the other 12v

  • @kletusbobby7029
    @kletusbobby7029 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    No do not close off the vent line. The line NEEDS to be open to allow air through. But if the vent (head) pipe is vertical up to the height just above the water level of the supply/filter box, all the will go up and out, but you will retain ALL of the head from the water level at the supply/filter box.

    • @daviddavids2884
      @daviddavids2884 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it appears that you did Not understand what the issue was. it was, too much Water.!!!!!

    • @kletusbobby7029
      @kletusbobby7029 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daviddavids2884 It appears you did not understand my comment. The vent in the blue drum is not a vent if it is closed. The purpose of this vent is to let air out of the system before it enters the penstock. The vent outlet needs to be at the highest possible height, just above the pick up screen in elevation, in order to maximize the available head. The blue drum needs to be strong enough to take the head it has, he said it is 10-12 foot of drop that is 5.2 psi. (It does look like it is strong enough) If the drum can not cope with this head, then it should be replaced with a stronger container, or moved up stream a little, to reduce the pressure on it. (As I advised him on his previous video.) His problem has nothing to do with how much water there is, it has to do with the placement of the air relief tank and the material it is made of. By the way, how is your hydro set-up going?

  • @kletusbobby7029
    @kletusbobby7029 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes I would definitely replace the blue drum. It needs to take the full head from the supply/filter box. In theory only air should travel up and out of the top of the (head) pipe, but is reality water surges up and down the (head) pipe. The hose out the top of the drum needs to be able to cope with all of the flow to the blue drum. So when you close the turbine off all the water can flow up to the top of the (head) pipe, and not pressurize the blue drum. The top of the (head) pipe should be a height just above the water level at the supply/filter box. This will allow all the air to escape up and out of the line. That will give you maximum potential down at the turbine. I have been working with my system and found setting it up as I have described is best.
