any weight difference compared to the stock rearsets
@@x1boomer Yes, the Sato are definitely lighter, although I did not weigh them.
How you liking your v2? Gonna be picking up one myself soon…got some nice roads out there to ride on…keep the shiny side up 👍🏻
I like it. Very good naked bike. Congratulations on your new V2! Yes, we are lucky out here, really some of the roads are world class.
Viewer in UK, breathtaking looking bike. Mine is the red and picking it up this Sat….anticipation is killing me! Who’s the manufacturer of the mirrors? I guess they give a better view behind than the stocks? They certainly look the part! 👍🏻
Thank you! Congratulations on your new bike, I am positive you'll love it. The mirrors are by Rizoma. No better rear view, I just like the way they look, and the stock mirrors I find very awkward.
Did you regear the bike for east side
Yes, for sure. Went with 38 teeth in the rear, 14 on the front. Going to T-Hill West soon, I'll probably go with 40 on the rear and 14 on the front.
Give it the beans man!
Your short shifting and lugging it around.
Looks like a GREAT road! I have to head over to Placerville and ride them. Just found Frank's Diner out there which looks like a good spot to rest, chat and have some good grub. Checking out Coach Can, although I only have the Road King. Take care!
Yes, check out Coach! He's the real deal, professional motorcycle racer in Europe, had a wild card for MotoGP! It doesn't matter which bike you ride, there are often guys (and girls) with Harley's that take his cornering school. I've taken his classes on an Indian Chieftain, Rocket 3 GT, and others.
@@justjoe7335 Oh! I was wondering if they allow Harleys... GREAT! Much appreciated!
Is this your first track day or first few? if so, nice look man. Keep it up!
Thanks SumoSevn! Yeah, I've only done a few track days.
@@justjoe7335 Ok this is definitely good then bruv. I'd say keep watching videos of how top riders ride and take lines and it will help to connect the dots for you.
Cool dude 👍. What editing program are you using? Mine always seem to get degraded slightly unless I upload the original file.
Hey Dean! I use Kdenlive. It is free and open source (at least for Linux which I run). It does a pretty good job, I can set the quality of the output file pretty easily.
@@justjoe7335 sweet thx, might have to check it out. Wondershare lets me set the quality and file type but still sometimes doesn't come thru "clean". Most of what I have on TH-cam are thru this.
Just did the same track on Sunday on a wr250x after a handful of track days prefer track riding over street. Can either fix up the wr or invest in this. Thoughts on this bike for a new/intermediate (solid B Group) rider?
Hey Jer Val, were you out there with Coach? My opinion, if you're going to be riding on kart/supermoto tracks, I'd go with the KTM 450 SMR over fixing up the wr250x. Of course, the SMR is designed and built as a race bike, and needs the attention of one. But as longas you're cool with doing your own wrenching, it's not too bad, and actually fun in my opinion. The SMR is just so much fun in that environment.
@@justjoe7335 Thanks Joe, yes I've been out a few times. I guess I was worried that the 450 might be too much to handle while still learning track riding. Are the Map 1 and Map 2 noticeably different?
@@jerval9135 There is a difference between the maps. I pretty much leave it on map 2. Map 1 is useless, in my opinion, unless the track is wet.
The feeling of the first track day is amazing! Well done
Thank you! It really was incredible.
Very cool. Did it with my car, need to do the same with my XR. Who organized this track day?
Hey Nicolas! PTT (Pacific Track Time) was the organizer. One of the best, in my opinion. That's cool that you did it with your car. What car do you have?
@@justjoe7335 911
Quite different than the Rocket!
You can say that again! Both tons of fun in their own way.
You're welcome Joe! Glad I got more then just the opening laps of you 👍😋🤣.
What's the track surface like? Is it grippy?
Not too bad, it gets better after the karts are on it as they leave some rubber on the track.
Dude yes! Such a badass bike. I’m hoping to get one as well :D KTM FTW!
And because you have way more insight in the corner you can take it with more speed, you should always be able to stop in your line of sight. So, when you have more sight into the corner, you can take it quicker. We Europeans learn this like this, that's the reason casualities are much less in Europe.
Really dangerous and stupid lines. When you have a right hand corner, you take your line utmost left, and vice versa. This is because you then have maximum sight into the corner so you can see what is coming, and also drivers from the other direction are seeing you earlier.
What road is that? It looks fun.
That's California route 193 (Georgetown Rd) between Placerville and Georgetown. Yes, it is a really fun road!
What road is that, looks fun.
Fun to watch. BTW, great lines!
I appreciate that Todd! Henry was able to pass me in the bus stop because I swung too wide around 8 and 9. Always something to work on, right?
Great footage Joe... keeper pinned!!!
Thanks Henry, see you out there!
Hey Joe! Do you know Greg Widmar by chance?
I know who he is (motojitsu). I've communcated with him a few times, but I do not know him personally. Do you?
@@justjoe7335 how could I? I live a few thousand Miles away from him. But I watched most of his vids so I know he's from CA. Is he really so talented as he appears? Or is he just ego biased?
This probably was my favorite technique I learned at SBC.
Do you use your GPS bracket? I put a mobile phone holder in the GPS bracket, which is cool because it powers the phone. However, since getting an iPhone 12 Pro Max it doesn't fit so good anymore. The securing clasp squeezes down on the volume button. Thanks Apple for moving the volume rocker down further on the phone. I'm thinking about taking the whole GPS bracket off and adding a Quadlock off to the right-side a bit. That way I can see the BMW logo and the mobile will be in portrait mode instead of horizontal mode as well as a bit higher up. I don't like having to look down to see the map plus my position arrow is always facing the wrong way because the phone is in horizontal mode.
Yes, I do have the GPS which I use in the bracket. I like having the actual GPS, I ride in the mountains where sometimes there is no cell phone reception, the GPS is nice to have up there. I agree, the position is weird, I don't like looking down either. I've seen a mod where you can move the GPS mount forward, above the TFT. Won't help with your IPhone volume rocker though!
@@justjoe7335 that Garmin Satnav is so expensive. You can preload maps for google maps in case there’s no reception right. The mod that goes on top of the TFT is a tight squeeze and I’m not a fan of that. Anyway I wish the TFT was a tad larger and could be used for maps that would be awesome!
@@Texas2Tires Yes, I look at the 10.25" TFT on the RT and get a little envious!
@@justjoe7335 I was thinking about doing a quadlock like this guy did. th-cam.com/video/8OxPHDkEIYA/w-d-xo.html
How did you get that speedo and tach setup on your TFT?
@Texas2Tires From the start up menu on the TFT press down once on the menu toggle switch. Then use the whiz wheel (not sure what the real name is) to go over two menus to the right, you will see the Sport menu. Press down once on the Menu toggle switch and you're there! I like that it shows braking deceleration as well as the left and right lean angles.
@@justjoe7335 that’s the problem. I don’t have a sport menu.
@@Texas2Tires Oh, that's right. I think that came as part of a package when I got the bike. Bummer, I really like that on the track.
Wow the guy at the end of the video almost hit you pulling a wheelie, WTF!
@Texas2Tires Lol! That's my coach! He's plenty safe. That was not even in the closest 10 passes that day. There were quite a few AFM racers in our group (C group, but probably the only one that had room). Those guys were passing like it was a race, no problem. Thanks for watching the video! I've been watching your videos too, you do a really good job with them.
@@justjoe7335 Ok well at least you know him...haha. I guess the track is the place for that type of riding and not the street. Amazing how fast the experts can push their rides. I'm still working on U-turns and other slow speed stuff. I'm a very conservative rider usually not going much about 10-20 mph over the speed limit. However, I do enjoy getting on the RS throttle to enjoy the torque and get to speed in seconds. Thanks for watching my videos. I'm subscribed to your channel and watch yours as well. Enjoy the Ride!
Awesome vid from Biker’s perspective. Bout how long from SJ to Patterson and back. Seems like it would take most of the day. Well worth it though.
@phil robb I live the other way, in Turlock. Takes about a half hour or so to get there from Turlock. From San Jose? I think it's about an hour and a half to get to San Antonio Valley, where Del Puerto Canyon road starts. If you take 130 through Mt. Hamilton it's a nice ride (lot's of curves).
@@justjoe7335 Well hey, keep the cyclin’ vids comin ! They are well done.
😲 Don't cross the white line coming out of the pit
@falcn12 right you are. My first track day, I messed up a few times. Also got a black flag because I missed the checkered flag and took an unintentional parade lap 😳
@@justjoe7335 I missed a checker at 11 on a track day, but still wasn't the last one in, luckily. :D It happens. Hope you had fun out there with Coach!! I was there the Monday after on 10/11. Good on ya for taking out a GS! Track days aren't just for sport bikes.
So would you say it is quiet enough not to damage your hearing? I want to get one, but the goldwing is quiet, wondering about the sound, do you have a db reading at all?
100toeface, I do not have an instrument to measure the decibels with. It is certainly not as quiet as a Goldwing, however I am not worried about the exhaust damaging my hearing. I am more concerned about wind noise. I do wear ear protection, and a full face helmet. In this video the exhaust sounds much louder than it seems to me while riding. I think the position of my GoPro behind the windscreen must catch the reflection of the sound waves from the exhaust. To me, it is exactly right. I love a little deep rumble, then when I get on it an angry growl, without it being too loud. I certainly would not put an aftermarket exhaust on it, I think they are ugly compared to the stock exhaust, which I find visually as well as aurally appealing.
Does it handle like a sport bike?
@Bonecrusha865, no, not at all. The bike weighs about 700 pounds wet, and has humongous tires front and rear. However, it does handle way better than you would think. Not like a sport bike, but better than any cruiser I've ever ridden.
@@justjoe7335 gotcha. I test drove one and was amazed at how far I could lean into curves with it and wondered how well it really handled.
Very nice. I need to practice harder cornering on mine. I've only ever had street riding experience for these last 10ish years and I'm currently on a 2020 Rocket 3 GT as well. I just stripped it down to be as naked as possible for a few days to rip around in. Windscreen off, bags off, tail rack off etc. Kinda liking it without the windscreen. More wind on body but less concentrated on head area so it feels more evenly spread out.
Hey Geo Dud. This beast handles better than most people who haven't ridden one think. I don't know where you're located, but SuperBike Coach is in Northern California, in Stockton. If you ever get a chance to take any of his classes I highly recommend it, guy really knows his stuff. People actually travel from all over the world to take his classes.
@@justjoe7335 I'm not too far off, in Phoenix, AZ. If I'm ever in the area I might give it a shot.
Looked like an awesome day. Bummed about not making it this time around. You guys had perfect weather for it too 🙌
Hey MotoKari! It was an awesome day, and not just because of the weather. I've already signed up for the next Track Academy. Good to see you at the BP class!
Currently riding a Bonnieville T120 and doing a lot more 2 up riding not great, looking at a Rocket GT have you done much 2 up touring on it
Hi Jack, no, I have not. Hoping my wife will want to later on though. I would say you might want to change out the passenger back rest for a larger one if you do, as the one that comes on the GT is pretty small. I think Corbin makes one. I find the seat pretty comfortable, I would not mind riding all day on it. I'm not so sure how comfortable the passenger seat is though. I think Corbin also makes a seat for the GT, might be worth looking into if you plan to do many long rides.
Hows that wear on the left side of the tyre? 😅
About the same as the right side lol! We went both ways, I just didn't record going clockwise!

I love that stretch of 49, it is between Bear Valley ( a small town north of Mariposa) and Coulterville. Yes, new bike! I got a 2020 Triumph Rocket 3, and am really digging it.
Haven't been on that stretch of 49 before, it looks like a great ride. Did you get a new bike?
Sorry, I think that may have been confusing! That was actually me that made the other comment, from a different account. I am having trouble getting good sound on my videos, that is not wind noise. I use a Rode Wireless Go mic, wrapped in foam in my saddlebag. I think it is interference. Do you have any suggestions for capturing the sound of the exhaust, without wind or interference? I use a gopro hero 8 with media mod.
@@justjoe7335 no worries! I haven't been able to fiddle much with Hero 8's, but there could definitely be interference. You'll contend with wind once you're over 50mph, it's more a matter of mitigating it by that speed point. I've seen people (Royal Jordanian being the biggest) use external audio recorders and lav mics tucked in the tail section to catch exhaust notes, but getting that dialed in requires some trial and error 👍 From what I can hear, yours sounds good, maybe some slight wind/buzz... What's the audio settings on the GoPro?
@@MotoKari thanks, the gopro does not have any audio settings when it is in the media mod, that I can see. The Rode Wireless go receiver plugs into the back of the media mod, the transmitter is what I have wrapped in foam in my saddlebag. Thanks for looking, I think I will play around with a lavalier mic, maybe see if I can get it to sound better.
My jealousy is infinite. Grats man, hope it was thoroughly enjoyable.
