Fly will always be faster than breast
Butterfly evolved from breaststroke as breaststrokes experimented with changes to the stroke to go faster they changed to overwater arm recovery which was designated a separate stroke in the 1930s. Men’s world records for 100 metres in a 50 metre pool aka Long Course as swum athe Olympics and World Championships are 49.45 for Butterfly and 56.88 for Breaststroke so there is a significant speed difference between the strokes.
on this video, is the swimmer closer to the screen doing breaststroke? and I never understand why all these swimmer not t put their foot on the pad, just the toes area? shouldn't it make more sense to use the entire foot's strength to yank against the pad to gain as much distance as possible? P.S. what is a "heat"?

That's what sprint fly is though. In br, you physically have to take a breath, where as fly you don't. If Qin could, he'd be breathing in negative oxygen.
