Well, since I’ve last posted, I have moved from Virginia to Arkansas. In fact, I live just down the road from this old schoolhouse you have on video. I’m down on Lake HINKLE. Do you still post hiking and exploring videos?

A terrific video and a beautiful family outing! A friend and I first hiked to the Eye 35 - 40 years ago.... no ropes back then. Because it was July or August during that trip, there was also little to no flowing water. We were able to climb up to the cave entrance and walk through it to the other end. We had no flashlight and were unprepared for caving at the time, but the "cave" is short enough that by the time it was getting too dark to see much, we began to see a little light from the exit, so we pressed on. I believe that entrance to the cave has been forbidden for many years now because of it being the home of a rare bat species and/or white-nose syndrome. Indian Creek Canyon and a 14 mile long canyon south of Flagstaff, AZ are the favorite two hikes of my life. Thanks for sharing this!

I hiked this trail two weeks ago. Had just rained and was about as slick as it could be without being ice. Waterfalls were amazing though. Was the hardest trail i have ever been on, but i couldn’t turn back. I have hiked Antelope canyon,14ers in Colorado, snorkeled in the Bahamas and this is my favorite place I’ve ever been. Arkansas Falls is the most unique waterfall I’ve ever seen. Great video and you’re a great dad for taking your kids.

That looks to me like two males doing a territorial fight/dance, like many rattlesnakes are famous for, to earn the right to hang around and mate the local females. I have captively bred copperheads, and I have never seen such an active copulation, and there is no evidence that these 2 are connected at the cloaca.

well done dad. that was an awesome adventure you took your kids on. Your daughter is an intrepid soul. Life should hold no fears for her. The boys coped well also considering their age and height. That water would have come up a long way on them. I like your adventures as you involve the family.

They are fighting over a female. You never saw her she for sure saw you. Your lucky you were not bitten I very much promise you would not enjoy it. Copperheads are close enough they can crossbreed with a water viper if one is not available. I was bitten by one. Almost lost my arm Doctor wanted to amputate it. Parents had the bright idea to take me to a Zoo afterwards so I would not be terrified of snakes. The snake handler had three figures amputated from a copperhead bite.
