Best post punk band ever imo Outstanding lyrics, melodies and energy.
For me, this and Breakfast were Alan and Billy's finest moments. Nobody did melancholy quite like The Associates.

The vocal genius, & the musical genius. Alan, & Billy were the perfect combination.
The music and the voice both come together brilliantly on this track. So sad both are gone now . RIP Alan and Billy. First song I thought to come to when I heard the news today.

For me this was the band's musical peak. Everything comes together superbly. Music that's dark, ominous, disturbing, that's what The Associates were best at.

One of my favorite tunes with The Chameleons. Gives me so many beautiful memories from my twenties. Sitting on the cliffs in my neighbourhood with some of my friends, drinking home made white wine, playing this song on tape recorder! :-)
Listen to a newer band called Drab Majesty if you dig the guitar tones in this band.

Not only does this still sound amazing all these years later, but in a world now absolutely dominated by elite narcissistic politicians and sadistic billionaire oligarchs, it's message of angst and desperate hope is more relevant and compelling than ever before.

I was 21, and accidentally heard Sulk at a friends house. Pretty much one of their best albums. Now nearly 40 years later i realize this song was one of the best ever….

Can anyone help out a foreign fan of this band, I can't recognize what he sings from 2:20 to 2:35 seems that part is the live improvisation or something. I'd be very grateful if anyone could provide the text of that part.

The best band ever to slip past the rock music public nearly unnoticed. Who cares? They have left a treasure trove of some of the greatest songs ever recorded. To have not seen them live is the major omission of my concert-going life!

They tuned to F # on the first 2 records. A bit out of tune here, but it doesn't matter to me.

They were so good and still sound brilliant!
Perhaps Billy was born at the wrong time and his talent wouldn't have gone unacknowledged if The Associates were around in say the 70s or late 90s, But the record would never have sounded the same without the the early 80s New Wave/ Post Punk/ Goth influences. So I'm glad it came out when it did.
