How to Make a Pendant from Wood Cast Silver
#jewelry #jewelrydesign #howtomake I was inspired by recent organic metal casting videos, and decided to try something a bit different. I have some old split and cracked driftwood that I wanted to experiment with. The results were great, so I decided to make a silver pendant from the casting. #jewelrymaking #sterlingsilver #metalart Music: www.epidemicsound.com/track/whle8Qez8O/

      @@my1234tien This takes some chemistry that I have never done. You can look up gold refining on TH-cam and probably find some good info.

      @@my1234tien You can melt it for sure. But it won't separate the metals in the alloy.

  • @funneldude

    Erm, actually, a 12mm x 12mm x 20mm “cube” is not a real cube. Cubes are equal on all lengths. This shape is a rectangular prism. Will not watch again 🤓

    Could I take a machine made silver ring and hammer it to make it look like this? Keeping it the same size

    • @viciouscircledesigns

      You could hammer it a little. Any hammering will spread some silver, making it a bit larger size. So if you could get a half size smaller than you need, you should be good.

    Thank you. I'd love to know the amounts to make medium and soft solder.

    • @viciouscircledesigns

      You basically just increase the amount of brass to make it "softer".

    Good thing i have plenty of both sterling and brass. There have been times when i ran out of solder and stopped the project in it's tracks. Next medium solder?

  • @Faesharlyn

    This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I can't wait to file the ingot of solder into tiny flakes, and it'll be so easy to stamp the hardness or flow temp into the bottom to keep everything tidy!

      Absolutely. The only weird thing with this technique is that the etch will be stronger on the surface that is facing the plate.

    Hello my dear brother, I want to know if you have 10 grams of silver, how much copper do you add to the silver and how much does it weigh until it becomes 925 karat?

    • @viciouscircledesigns

      .81g of copper would make it .925 Sterling. Divide whatever amount of .999 silver you have by by .925. (x/.925)

      InkwellFoto cardstock for scrapbooking is what I used. You can use whatever kind of paper you want as long as it soaks up the resin and had a little “tooth” to it. Resin is just standard fiberglassing resin. Polyester resin to be exact.
