Pull out method works! VQ Engine and Transmission Removal Part 2
🚗 **VQ Engine & CD Transmission Removal | Part 2** 🛠️
Welcome back to **Wallsdeep Drifting**, where we dive into the gritty details of getting our drift car ready for the next season!
In this **Part 2** of the VQ engine and CD transmission removal series, we pick up where we left off in Part 1: lifting the car to access and disconnect the critical components underneath.
⚙️ **In This Video:**
- Addressing rusted and missing bolts (Midwest struggles!)
- Handling broken studs and exhaust components
- Disconnecting O2 sensors, brackets, and the clutch slave cylinder
- Removing the crank sensor and transmission plugs for a smooth process
- The essential (and often forgotten) step of removing the shifter from the cabin
- Preparing to lift the engine and transmission with proper support
- Pulling out the who shebang!
🛠️ Whether you're tackling rusted parts, navigating tricky connections, or prepping for an LS swap like I am, this step-by-step guide will keep you on track!
🔥 Pro Tip: Always have penetrating oil, a torch, or a trusty impact wrench ready for stubborn bolts.
👉 **What's Next?** ISR swap kit, oil pan, headers. Wiring. LS installation.

S12 Turbo Hatch Rear Shock Replacement

A straightforward job on this one. The only real difficulty is removing all the screws and plastic shrouding that covers the rear shock tower. Be patient and take your time. This will probably be the last S12 video for a while as I transition to the G35 LS swap.
Installing tension rod bushings and End Links on the Nissan 200SX Turbo Hatch

We're finally tackling a somewhat easy job this time! I replace the worn out and crusty bushings from the tension rods and end links. This can all be done with your standard hand tools and a floor jack, but having a lift is so nice now.

Ask whatever questions you may have in the comments below. I'll personally see to them (hopefully) within 24 hours. I wasn't lucky enough to use the new front control arms that I had hanging around. So many times on this project I've gotten new parts that are "verified to fit", but turns out wrong. In this episode, I really struggle to remember the important stuff. One issue after another makes this 20 minute job span over a couple of days. I forget to tighten a flare nut, forget a crush washer, and end up having to replace the entire hard line for the clutch system. Such a pain, but that's the way it goes sometimes with these old vehicles.

    I was able to replace both without taking all the plastics of... Weird. In germany you can´t find any S12 parts at all, but E46 Compact rear shocks fit P&P. You only need spacers for the bottom end screw. Been running my car like this for 2 years now

      Parts are getting more difficult to find in the USA, too. I often get parts that are "made for S12", but don't fit. We've been forced to get creative and resourceful with solutions. Myself and many others resort to Ford Mustang shocks on the rear because those cars are EVERYWHERE :) Maybe in the spring, I'll see about replacing subframe bushings with Z31 parts.

    Yes, bad engineering for the access, I remember when I did it the first time. Did You choose this brand for purpose? I choose KYB excel G like 15 years ago my car seems so low, I'm hesitate to change them.

    • @wallsdeepdrifting
      @wallsdeepdrifting 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I picked this one because of its stock performance and it was pretty low cost. I've been trying to keep this car as stock as possible with minimal performance upgrade because then I'll go full race car with it before I know it :) My first S12 was my first drift car, it was a SRA '84 and I used fox body Mustang KYB shocks on the rear. I'll let this one be a comfy cruiser for a while.

    How is it going Brother, thank you for uploading this video as it is very convenient in my situation. I have an 84 S12 turbo. I am sure that it shares the same transmission and I just want to know if there are any tips you could share with me when it comes to taking out the transmission. I saw that you kept the exhaust on, did it give you any trouble when dropping the tranns?

    • @wallsdeepdrifting
      @wallsdeepdrifting หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I had to do over again, I would 100% unhook the exhaust. With the exhaust connected, it prevents the engine from tilting back. That little bit of tilt helps tremendously with removal and install. Placing a jack with a piece of wood under the oil pan gives a few degrees of angle and it's what I ended up doing when it came time to install. I should've spent the money on a good transmission jack instead of trying to lift with my body and floor jack.

    • @RonLarios
      @RonLarios หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the reply brother, one last thing. Do you happen to have the parts number for the clutch fork bushing? Or a link to where I can get the part? Also did the clutch kit came with rear main seal?

    • @wallsdeepdrifting
      @wallsdeepdrifting หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RonLarios The fork boot is part # 30542-E9000. They're readily available from most Nissan dealerships and was interchanged with other models, like the S13 and Xterra. No rear main seal with this clutch kit. It would've been a good time to replace it while the transmission was out, but it looked to be in good condition. Rear seals are still available at many auto parts stores.

    • @wallsdeepdrifting
