Rob Explores | Heritage at Risk survey (fail)
I volunteer for the Northumberland National Park. One of the tasks I undertake is surveying Heritage at Risk sites and reporting back on their condition. The Heritage at Risk (HAR) programme helps understand the overall state of England's historic sites and identifies those sites that are most at risk of being lost as a result of neglect, decay or inappropriate development.
As we had a lovely sunny Saturday at the start of September I decided I would survey one of my sites on the Sunday while my wife ran a marathon training run. I thought I would take you along with me so you can see some of what is involved in surveying sites. Things didn't go quite as well as I hoped.

Rob Explores | A walk up Hareshaw Linn waterfall
มุมมอง 6321 วันที่ผ่านมา
My daughter came to see us for the weekend so we went for this wonderful walk towards a spectacular waterfall with rare plant life and wildlife on the way. Come with us as we make the trek up the path to the waterfall. The route starts in Bellingham in Northumberland and is approximately 3 miles long and is a relatively gentle walk with a spectacular waterfall at about halfway where you turn an...
Rob Explores | Musselburgh Lagoons/Country Park near Edinburgh
มุมมอง 1221 วันที่ผ่านมา
We are doing our Parkrun alphabet and my wife is training for a marathon, so, after completing Vogrie parkrun, near Edinburgh, to get V, I went for a walk around Musselburgh Lagoons while I waited for my wife to complete a 15 mile training long run. Musselburgh Lagoons and Levenhall Links is a stunning nature reserve that’s a hotspot for a multitude of birds, from waders such as curlews and red...

I trained with H2o Trails to become an RLSS Open Water Lifeguard last year. Along with Transcent Hair & Beauty they organised a charity event in aid of Tynedale Hospice at Home, where I was happy to support them as a Lifeguard on the water for all 4 swimming sessions they held during a wet and windy Saturday in July. Totaling just under 7 miles of paddling during the day. This is a look at the ...

Rob Runs | St Mary's lighthouse to Seaton Sluice via a Waggonway | more of a run/walk really
มุมมอง 242 หลายเดือนก่อน
St Mary's Lighthouse is on St Mary's (or Bait) Island, just north of Whitley Bay on the coast of North East England. The small rocky tidal island is linked to the mainland by a short concrete causeway which is submerged at high tide. You can often see seal's sunbathing on the rocks around the lighthouse, which is now a visitor attraction. Seaton Sluice is a harbor close by. There are also numer...
Rob Explores | Cape Cornwall to Land's End | A walk along the South West Coast Path
มุมมอง 682 หลายเดือนก่อน
We had a weeks holiday in Cornwall, staying pretty much in Cape Cornwall itself. As a relatively active pair we decided to walk from Cape Cornwall to Land's End. It's advertised from a sign at the Cape as 5.5 miles, but it turned out to be more like 7. This is our journey along the coast using the South West Coast Path (and a snippet of the journey back on a Coaster bus). #cornwall #landsend #c...
Rob Runs | Runnation Alnwick 10K | running race fail?
มุมมอง 133 หลายเดือนก่อน
Have I mentioned I struggle with my running at the moment. My breathing isn't right and I struggle with consistency. But I'm training for an ultra run in September. So I decided to enter the Runnation Alnwick 10K as part of a training run. I can't say it went well, although this wasn't unexpected. This video shows some of my musings during and after the race. #running #walking #runwalk #ultra #...
Car camping | Campal Split reconstruction - I took it apart now to put it back together
มุมมอง 9433 หลายเดือนก่อน
I took the Campal Split apart (don't worry, some sections are made so they can be detached from the base) because I needed the space for something else. This is a video of me putting the Campal Split back together in situ. If you are thinking of buying one then this should give you a good idea of how versatile it is. And how you might manage getting it in and out of the boot if you need the spa...

I attempt to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, at the time of publishing on a 192 day streak, with 1 day off and then 95 days before that. I often drop my wife at the Hexham Station so she can head into work then I go for a walk around Tyne Green. We also run Tyne Green Parkrun quite often. On this occasion, I went for a walk through the park and along the Tyne river on a Sunday early in the sp...

Car camping | Campal Split overview

We bought a Campal Split. A pod that slides into the boot of our car to covert it into a (small) camper van. We unpacked it in the last video but it was a little late into the evening so we didn't have a chance to explore it. You can follow along as I have a proper look at the thing and work out how is all fits together. #campal #camping #campinggear #carcamping #carbootcamping #unboxing

Greetings from the Netherlands! Thanks for the very thorough overview in your videos. This is really useful! One question I have is the height of the seating area since this is an important decision factor from me. I am thinking of spending the extra money on this one compared to competitive sets for my Berlingo Mk2. What really surprises me is that these boot based conversion kits are very popular in the UK with multiple suppliers and practically non existent in the Netherlands, at least not where you can also sit in your microcamper. After spending significant time on the Internet, I identified redcote leisure, Amdro, dreamcatcher campers, Campal and recently Chapel as well with a completely different setup but fully understandable given the English/Scottish climate. In the Netherlands the only one coming close is the Mica Camperbox of 3dot zero. I intend to also regularly go stealth camping if I travel alone and probably would like to have mirrored version of the Split, since I find it important to be able to leave the driver seat untouched as the steering wheel is also mirrored. Any suggestions? BTW: I subscribed to your channel...

Hi @petervanwijk2639, thanks for your comment. the unit itself sits at around 32cms from top to bottom with the seat/bed folded out (not including the base panel itself which you wouldn't include anyway as your feet would be on it - add a couple of cms to allow for this if you need to), then the cushions supplied are 8cm. In terms of the Left Hand Drive bed setup. The right hand side of the Split might work if you put the table down and into the gap between the two "units" when you are sleeping - it acts as a base for the whole bed/mattress - as there wouldn't be any support in the middle otherwise like on the left, however, it is smaller in terms of width to the left hand side of the unit. I would suggest contacting Campal direct, they were very helpful answering questions ahead of when I bought my unit. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the show around the split. I think this is the one I'll be going for. For the boot area to stop getting it scratched when getting in or out. Try a dog boot bumper guard. I have one for the dog but works just aswell for preventing me from scratching bumper as I get in and out of my van.

Hello Rob! I've just left a long commentary on the 2nd part of this video that you might want to check out. This is just perfect and so much aporeciated. It's rare that we get to see all the details from A to Z! And I dont understand why you haven't had more views, yet! I'll keep looking at both of these videos to bump up the algorithms for you! Hello Rob, I have checked out all the boot jump boxes on the market and this is the one that I had chosen. But you are the first person abd only person though to show everything about this version Campal Split, right from what the delivery pallette looks like aswell as installing it all in your car. Thankyou so much for taking the time out to thoroughly demonstrate it without missing anything out! I have just bought (but not yet received) my 2 year old beautiful 5 place Peugeot Rifter ❤❤ and I too wanted a unit that would allow me to choose to use either or the single or double bed option but by having it all in one 'kit'. I do like the black honeycomb finish on yours, very classy! The reason that it was so interesting for me with your first video, the delivery, is that not everyone lives in a house! I live in an apartment which means that my delivery would have to take place in our shared carpark for this pallette to be delivered to. It risks blocking the other users! I don't live in the UK anymore so it's not as if I can drive down to their workshops in Kent to pick it up directly! Still won't stop me from ordering one though! Thankyou once again and happy microcamping wither yout Rifter and camp boot jump unit! I've subscribed to your channel in the hope that you'll be posting more videos with this boot jump in action!

Thanks quantumquattro, of interest to you, given you live in an apartment - I'm not sure if showed on the video - but both the right and left "boxes" have screw nuts on them so they can both be separated from the base plate. This should make it much easier for you to move it all into your apartment if needed (it's heavy when it is in one piece). They are still heavy but more manageable. It's certainly my intention to create some more videos around this as soon as I can. Thanks again.
