I make videos that normally have a vague automotive theme. Hopefully they're getting better and better quality over time, although that is subjective, so they might be getting worse and worse in your opinion. Either way, thank you for watching!
AI writes a car review (VW MK4 Golf)
I got artificial intelligence (AI) to write me a review for my MK4 VW Golf, which I then presented. It is... interesting. It can definitely get some bits down like the style of a car review, but it's far too general and quite frankly a bit weird, which at least makes the video entertaining!
Thanks for watching!

Massive thanks to Ben for letting me film his car and for helping me do it! Sorry there hasn't been a long-form video out in a while, been busy at uni! I have another review on the way after this, which I think could just be my b...

How to Choose Your First Car - Tips and What to Watch out for
มุมมอง 7529 หลายเดือนก่อน
How do I choose which car to buy as my first car? What do I need to look out for when buying a used car? Those are questions. Good questions. As is 10 x 10. I won't be answering that last one, but the first two I have certainly given it a good go. If you are in the process of looking at first or used cars, about to be or are just vaguely bored then this video should help. I go through the stage...

I reviewed the best car in the world....
About the throttle problem: I had the exact same symptoms for about a year until one day I stopped at a toll post and the engine shut off and wouldn't turn back on. It turned out that the fuel pump died and the symptoms were just that: the pump was slowly dying. If you are still having problems, check your fuel pump.
Ahh interesting. Hope it's working now! Mine is all good now thankfully - new throttle body fixed it.
Ive just bought one for £350 with 274k on the clock and no mot...only failed MOT on a dodgy jacking point whoch cost £83 so overall im very happy. Its the PD130 so is quite zippy!
I agree with the "not fun to drive". It's great to drive but not fun simply because it's too heavy. I own a New Beetle, which is technically a Golf mk4. It's a 2.0 L 115 hp gasoline, which was the mk3 GTI engine, a car that was kind of blamed because no more power than the mk2 gti and yet many extra kg. The mk4 put that trend to a new level. I would love to have a Beetle that would be based technically on the Golf mk3 GTI, really.
Looks awesome!! Ever considered reviewing a R56 Mini Cooper?
Thank you!! Oo I'd definitely be interested in reviewing one for sure! I'll keep an eye out...
the last 3 problems are skill issue
i’m 18 and i moved to another country with a decent economy that allows me to buy a car the same year i began working, my goal has been for a long time buying a car with all my saved up salaries (i save 90%) i wanted to buy a golf mk3 first, but my family started throwing shit at how it didnt have AC and it was a very old car, expensive parts, unreliability and all of that, then i started noticing there were quite a lot of golf MK4s through my city, i got in love with the grey golf after that and it’s what im after for what i love the most is its mix between curves and boxes at the same time, it is an authentic 1999 milennium transition era, i also love its 90’s car interior, the wheel, non-leather seats (i dont like modernity) and it overall seems to be a really good choice and i’ll probably keep it for a long time because i like it :) started to look for some options recently, saw one for $3400 dollars and i currently have saved up 2/3 of that so my family can loan me the rest until i get that money, cool vid bro :)
Ah nice!! Well if you get one, enjoy!! Thanks :)
Buy a Toyota if you do not want these petty annoying problems. That's what I shall do after running a VW Tiguan MK2 for 8 years.
Kinda late to the party, but i bought a mk4 variant (the long one) for 2,9k. It has 80.000 km on it and we had to do some minor fixes, but otherwise its in almost perfect condition for its age of 21 years. i will switch the radio to one with CD and Bluetooth support (probably the Blaupunkt Stockholm 400 DAB, because it fits optically too), but otherwise the car is "modern" enough imo. everytime i drive with the driving school's car i forget about all these optional support systems it has, because honestly i dont need them. and for its age, the golf packs a lot of stuff i didnt think it had. So even if its not the fastest first car (which might be a little sad on the german autobahn) it sure is a lot of fun and i just love my golf. 10/10, can recommend the golf as a first car. Even more so the "variant" model, because it has even more storage.
I have a mk4 golf and the cup holder are hide. You have to press the button with the cup one the middle of the dash board to revealed them
Yep. Not in mine. They had a space before, I put some it.
If this is a petrol, the sound at 2:46 is REALLY bad unless it's tuned with sound change. The Petrol opel engine is SO clean in noise that this would have to be an engine getting into the trash state to make such a bad sound (super old cars with no repeated repairs). Or maybe 3 cilinder 65hp but that ons is damn rare (and if you drive normal revs no way it makes that sound). Ps i love mine.
The biggest problem with your Golf : The steering wheel on the wrong side...!!!!
Hahahah, not at all sir... It is very much on the correct side!!
Just ran into this video being suggested to me due to the fact I believe I’m going to end up driving a 2009 1.4 petrol Astra as my first car, I absolutely loved the jokes and the skits woven into factual information. Then I was gob smacked by the fact you don’t have nearly as many subscribers as I thought you would. Stick with it and you will hit gold, no doubt about it.
Thank you!! Really appreciate it, I'll keep at it.
Not me watching this video as Im debating to buy one lol
Haha hope it was helpful!!
i genuinely dont know if this was a sarcastic or an honest review, but i've had a few laughs if you make some tv show, i would watch it
Haha I think honest, not too sure myself... But thank you!!
1:52 ‘As solid as it’s build…’ That AI speech needs to go down in the RHanson Museum.
Immortalised forever...
Teddy didn't seem impressed with the AI script, shame he couldn't keep the good vibes rolling
He didn't, I like to think he tried his best tho.
Do you have doubled Licensing test (annual) for vehicles 20 plus years in the UK? Or some other limitations for years like this car?
I'm not too sure what an annual doubled licensing test would be sorry... But we have an MOT we have to get every year, which is basically just checking everything works safely. Cheers
@@RHanson. In my country we do MOT every year too, but cars 20 years and up do this shit twice!
@@StainlessRocky Ohh really, that seems excessive!
Hey, that’s some great advice.
Looking for a first car to buy myself, and have stumbled across the Mk4 Golf as they go for cheap here in Ireland but I love the fact that I found this channel because I was also curious on how living in it for a car camping adventure would go. Your channel is selling me more on buying this car and also the production quality is really engaging! I look forward to more adventures with the Golf. Keep em coming!!
Ahh cool could be a good option for you! Hahah I'm glad I could do consumer advice. Thank you, more to come!!
Does anyone 1:54 know why my golf 4 1.8 GTI jerks and stalls, feels like petrol is not getting through, it shudders and smells bad - this is al intermittent - mechanic has replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter - didn't help
I will not lie, I have been watching a few reviews of this little vehicle, and yours is one of the best I have seen - it is detailed enough and engaging. I would actually consider having one of these cars (yes, I know, technically it ain't a car...) for nipping about locally. Simple, basic transportation with no frills appeals to me! (That non-cancelling indicator stalk reminds me of the old East German Trabant I once owned - same issue... In fact the entire car has the same vibe, plastic body over a metal frame, whine from the powerplant and ultra-basic interior.)
Thank you I really appreciate that! Yeah that's fair enough, it would certainly meet that criteria! And at least you'll know how to deal with it then!
Have the same time one same color 1.6 Motor and its a 98' model
personally i'd say the cupholders are pretty good, especially compared to my e39
The 3rd beep took me out 💀
I had a 2L version of this. Crashy suspension, drank fuel, unreliable electrics, clunky pedals. Absolute Shit Box.
Yeah that sucks, neither of us have the best engines... I'd probably get the 1.9L if I was to do it again (if I could afford the insurance).
It was only 4 years old when I bought it and I had it for 12 years. Conversely the drivetrain and engine were bullet proof and it never left me stranded. Unlike a Peugeot 308 that I have (Puretech engine, i.e Purecrap) that is great on fuel but that HAS left me stranded and drinks oil. Take your pick really. I've got no faith in Euro cars anymore.@@RHanson.
Thanks for sharing. Good on you for reaching out and good on the Neebs crew for being human. So glad I am a part of this community.
Problem Nr.1 Buy good 2Din radio. Problem Nr.2: My seats have pockets since they are not the cheapest available for golf. Sport type seats feature back pockets :) Problem Nr.3 Better optioned Mk4's have cupholders in front as well in back. Problem Nr.4 Fun of driving your golf comes by having decent suspension( if yours still stock and is broken, it impairs the way car controlls. Having something better than 1.6(i.e 1.8T or 1.9TDI 150HP) would broaden the way you see "fun" in driving your Golf. Problem Nr. 4 AirCon problem is that near the heater core is film, which divides Cold air from hot(i might be wrong there). So as the car ages, the film just disintegrates and you have to re-do it :). Problem Nr.5 Throttle - this is mechanical/electrical issue. Final issue: Engine lights are not an issue if you fix it ;) If you are unsure, get VCDS cable and start to work on your car yourself. I hope my feedback will be useful for you!
Bro ffs how can u compare the Golf to a Ka or Micra
All this needs is the paint job of those little tikes plastic car
They need to make one NOW!
Your channel needs more recognition. Don’t stop the vids
Thank you, I won't! :)
This guy is criminally underrated.
Appreciate it :)
Does anybody else have to keep replacing the damn transmission on this damn car :(
No power steering.
you should have more subs, I love these review vids
Thank you appreciate it!! :)
Great video. Learned a bit, laughed a lot… keep it up!
Thank you!! :)
Round knobs are 👌
They are... Lotus do the best ones.
Love this car, can't believe they gave it to me for free when I bought that 4000 quid spanner
Yeah good deal to be fair, you did well to win the spanner auction too
Also I'd just like to say I could actually be a makeup artist, that is some convincing fake blood...
Mk4 golf/Bora is a great car
Agreed!
i'd rather go for a 1.1L honda jazz of the same era, same price, more reliable, more economical, same insurance group, bigger.
Fair enough, can't really fault a jazz
its a 1.6 lol what u expect hahaha
Golf 4 never out dated actually thats the beauty in it that it is 19 year old..
At my house we have an old one that has been sitting for a couple of years and will need a little work to get it good to drive, but other than that it could definitely be my first car when I get older. later on I might even add more to it for more power and different upgrades, but that's a whole other thought.
Cup holders, air-conditioning! How decadent 😅! My golf mk4 1.4 16v E has none of this and I can't car less. A great every day hack and I love that some of the maintenance and repairs you can attempt at home.
Hey Mr Hanson. I have a mk1 land rover freelander if you want to review it, I'm sure it will provide you with excellent content due to how shit it is. It's my second car because i'm a 50 year old man trapped inside a 21 year olds body so a landy simply called for me... Me and my mate sam are big fans!
That's very kind and hahaha I rate that!! Thank you both!
I've got a 2011 Corsa for my first car. 87k miles. 5 door. 1.4 so the insurance is very high 😅. But it's a great car and once the insurance starts to go down it will be very economical for me.
With your throttle problem replace your Crankshaft Position Sensor, that fixed my MK4 GTI problem and engine light came off as well and now it runs better than ever. Only costs £30
I had to get a new throttle body unfortunately, quite a bit more expensive 😅
Was my first car for 8 years. There was something about its size and light weight that made it so fun to drive. It’s a similar feeling to driving a go-kart. You can really feel it when you accelerate and it handles curves beautifully.
Also the visibility in that car is second to none. Almost half the body is window.
😊
but it's not a car its a heavy quadricycle
Indeed
