Such a Jester thing, to turn sacrificing her own hands into donating her friendship to the hag.
I want the show's episode to be based on tjis animatic.
Chester reminding her to open the door is the best 😂
Matt forgot to make the hag charm proof
How lucky to see this fry early preview for the upcoming animated series
I love the enormous looming shadow the hag makes in the space!
Finally I get to watch this! Yes! This moment was absolutely incredible
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! what an attention to details! loved the soundmixing as well
I hope this bit gets animated officially!
1:53 I see that Final Agni Kai Azula reference!
Jester is so cute
Hiii
The blueberry cupcake to modify memory was INSANE! I was out of my seat with excitement!
Nice ass animation🔥
This fight is one of the best ways to show people what dnd is all about, two of my friends joined our campaign thanks to this animation so thank you so very much <3
i hope you know i’ve watched this at least 4x a week for the past few months and i basically have the scene memorized work for word, it’s just too good 🙂↕️
Damn, that hag design is fantastic and the framing is sooo good, the side view was almost comical when you see how huge she is compared to the room, that's such a great animation.
One of the best scenes. Such a nail biter and soooo well played. Can't wait to see how it plays out in the show
If Vox Machina wraps up on Prime and they end up adapting Campaign 2, this moment is gonna be so bloody cute.
They *are* adapting Campaign 2, they announced it a couple years ago and even released a teaser animatic for the first episode a couple months ago. The show is Mighty Nein, the way the Campaign 1 one is Legend of Vox Machina. We're a year or two out from Mighty Nein coming out, but it is coming.
The drawing goes crazy! Like to the artist(s)… thats amazing.
The moment I heard effect of the dust I was like HOLY SHEEEEET LET'S GOOOO
I listen to this in podcast form...when I was listening to this one, prior to "Jester" offering this, I heard all of these devastating deals being offered. Typically, they "discuss" at least a little, but none was happening. And she talked about her hands and then, as if she was going to give them up, I was trying to "figure out" how they were going to fix her. Then she gave her half a cupcake and said about how she had added the sprinkle and that it also weakened wisdom saving throws...I had to go back, and listen again. Then she spoke w/Matt and he rolled and failed...I stopped it...tried wrapping my mind around what had just happened...how absolutely brilliant and diabolical it was and how it was all right then...I have to say I cheered and possibly even teared up a little. I dabbled in D&D when I was a kid in the 80's and Critical Role is what every kid that ever played it pretended it was. I love them all for bringing this to us, the public...their love and passion and sharing it.
dude, CR is just all that! it amazes me every time they do something like this, it’s always so creative and fun
This sequence was so epic. Insane how Fjord rolled a natural 20 to persuade to blame Avantica leading to her getting choked in front of everyone.
This is the single encounter i'm most looking forward to seeing animated. <3
You rly did the WHOLE BATTLE huh :OO thats insane dude
Was thinking About sonic?
Wall of Fire, Dimension Door, and Balgura were such hype moments
Can't wait to see how they put this scene in the Mighty Nein series <3
I want to know if she ever tried to go back for a visit.
The two actually do continue to correspond via mail. Later in the campaign Jester does send her a new batch of cupcakes as promised and we find out she and the hag functionally become pen pals after this. The hag does break the spell but respects Jester's game and doesn't come after her.
I know this will be fully animated someday is the best
Great animation
First time I notice the disturbingly long collection of ding-dongs that the Hag has on a rack hanging to the right of the fire.
idk if i’ve ever been more thankful for the “newest first” comment filter LIKE THANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT THST MAKES IT SO MUCH BETTER
If the mighty nein animated series doesn’t include this scene, it will be beyond criminal.
What's funny is that I think hags in 5e generally have legendary resistances. The fact that Jester gets away with this says one of two things about Matt: 1) He forgot that hags can have legendary resistances, or 2) He was so impressed by how completely he was bamboozled that he decided to let it slide.
This is something I would absolutely let slide in my games. Just going with "the hag uses a legendary resistance" wouldn't create as interesting a situation.
Rule of cool.
Matt was so proud of Laura for this.
I just got here and i eas laughing so hard.
I literally just got to this episode today, how funny i find this on the same day. Mind was BLOWN
I am surprised that the Hag did not sense Artagan with Jester
dang
I'll tell you what tho, if Vox Machina were in this situation they'd simply kill the monster.
Dude... excellent
I know I am in the super-minority, but I am one of the few that think this went down extremely poorly. At no point did Laura ever say that Jester was using a magic seasoning on a perishable pastry in preparation for just such an event. If she did it in the moment, there should have been a slight of hand check or something. To this day, that Matt didn't roll perception after the fact in response to Laura's after the fact announcement of adding the dust, i can only think he was getting tired of the party individually threatening the hag, and this was the out he needed to change scenes, so he rolled with it. It still remains a blatant example of a player trying to "get one over" on the DM in my eyes, and there has never been a discussion since of how she had prepared for such a use all along. It is up there with players announcing after the fact the level of their counterspell to match the level of the bbeg's spell to counter it more easily and other such meta shennanigans.
Except he was eating it up the whole time and was not trying to rush anything along. He was genuinely proud of Laura for finding a way around the deal, he rolled to see if it worked and the dice decided that it did. If he didn't like how she did it, he would have corrected her on it which he has done countless times elsewhere. But Matt rewards his players for out of the box thinking and even if the thing doesn't quite meet the requirements of the rules as written, he works by sometimes letting the rule of cool win out. It was a brilliant idea on her part, he considered it and let it stand, allowing the dice to determine the outcome and it worked in her favor.
Rule of cool. Though you are entirely correct, "get one over"? DMing isn't and shouldn't be a competition. The DM can - and should - apply the rules as they see fit. This is why D&D is better than any computer game.
Wrong. She sprinkled the dust of deliciousness some time ago thinking it would mask the taste of it going old, but forgot about it again until the hag. Here we have a blatant example of that one guy who thinks he's better than other people who like fun on the table, choosing to be ignorant on the facts so they can mouth about something for the sake of it
@whatiswhat8061 please enlighten me then, oh great sage, of the episode and timestamp where she performed this great miracle of precognition. I would be relieved to lose one of my biggest hangups with campaign 2, as I already suspend the belief (as many campaigns do) that characters actually eat and drink their perishables between destinations...
@@whatiswhat8061 for the record, you are the only respondant in what, 5 years, to make this claim. Everyone else just sights the "rule of cool."
I don't care for Crititcal Roll, but this moment was peak DnD. When the bard makes a deal, and says "Let's go!" Do not question, don't stop, get away, get far far away. I am going to include this hag to fuck with my players tho.
Fantastic work really! Only notes: no sleeves for evantica and nott should be uglier more goblin faced. I can’t truly excellent piece
The lighting!!!! The framing!!!!! Oh my god!!!!!!!
"He's called the traveller, he's a really powerful god. I bet he's here right now looking over me" ... The trickster god was definitely with her that day.
Я так люблю этот аниматик❤❤❤❤
Good video. I liked it a lot!
Not pictured Talisen Jaffey losing it in the chorus.
Oh good, I was thinking it was about time to binge CR animatics
Lets all take a real sad moment and be sad that the 2024 trickery cleric wont have modifiy memory any more as a known spell !
