don't expect snow in les2alpes. You'll ski only a glacier
This is an interesting presentation of the three pressure fundimentals. The only thing I did not understand is what movement is made in order to transfer pressure from the downhill ski to the uphill ski in the transition phase. Is the movement to shift weight when extending (effectively standing on) the uphill lski?
Good to know
Good pointers!
This is why I switched to snowboarding.
11. Sender to decender
Dolomiti Superski in Italy, 1200 kilometers of interconnected slopes
1. Ischgl, Austria.
how tight should the top buckles be?
This has to be the best video I’ve seen. I’m now using this technique of pivoting followed by edging (at the moment I choose). Because of your video, I’m now skiing down black diamond runs with confidence. Thank you!
Good Core to control ur weight is also really important
Looks super boring.
Not a trick lol
Sooo goood🎉👏👌
i always start to panic and then dont turn because im too scared and then just bomb down the run 😅
Doesn't edge angle increase through retraction of the inside ski? U don't need to change the distance between ur skis, in fact it gets more difficult to get angulation if the skis are wide, and encourages more weight bearing on the inside ski which will make everything more difficult?
This season is the first time in 15 years that I’ve used shorter skis and I’m an intermediate skier, who uses all pistes. The ski hire representative was insisting that I had my usual size and that I’d be changing the skis later that day. The difference was so apparent in that I was turning and moving through the moguls much easier and generally felt more confident and in control on all the ski area. Try it and if it doesn’t suit, go back and change skis. Good luck 👍🏻
excellent tips
thx !
One thing not mentioned here, but helpful in deeper snow, is using the pole plant to time your slightly unweighting the skis to help slide them around.
Mincing… ok. Make sure that stays on the slopes
I'm trying this in 30 minutes! Is it harder with sharp edges?
I'm afraid i might snap my skis in half
Whats the point of poles while skiing anyway
The purpose of poles while skiing: 1. Forward propulsion (vestigial): Back in the good old days, skiing used to be a way of going from point A to point B. If you look at classic cross country skiing, diagonal striding takes advantage of the poles and double pole (which will beat diagonal striding on a flat hard pack slope) is entirely dependent on poles. 2. Stability(vestigial): Back in the good old days, skis didn't turn so good. If you screwed up, the poles could help keep you upright. 3. Sensor/timing queue: If I'm going really fast down a groomed slope and doing high G turns, the poles are like an ant's antennas giving me information on my body's position with respect to the slope. If I'm going down some moguls, the pole plant provides timing information that tells the rest of my body how to respond.
Muy bien video. Explicación muy clarita. Muchas gracias
I like it. I go to Morzine on Saturday and I'm going to practice this. I can see it is a useful and versatile skill. Thanks Fred 😊
Very good!
1 and 5 ofc.
Damn I would end up tired as hell
so kristiana, parallel 1, parallel 2 in 6.40 min. nice !!
Noooo, sorry, noooo. You lost me on the outside-inside ski thing. Top skiers turn with both skis however. They turn with one foot slightly in front of the other. The plumes of snow behind them are identical. The weight is evenly distributed on both skis.
THIS NEEDS BALLS
Thank you 🌠
Loads of waffle, didnt even keep your hands forward the whole time kept rotating the outside arm in front of your body - try that on steeper terrain not a blue and you’ll see what happens 😂
This is one of the most useful, and neat videos I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing the names of all the lifts and slopes. This is absolutely fabulous.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, so glad it was useful for you and good luck if you try it!
Your pole plant is too early.
Beautiful...where is this? Thanks
You are skiing in zinal right?
Proceeds to upload a video of her skiing on her inside ski 😂
I always relate to my kids that its natural to want to fall to the slope as if hiking, but you need to get forward and lean into your shins to get everything moving (not my kids, I'm an instructor)
Saludos desde Argentina.
Thanks for Reminding everyone into sport! I think a lot of people just go out there and stand on their skis. 😂
My ski gang is not that big - we have to multitask😂😂
Having a FIS-code and thousands of kilometres skiing behind your back helps enormously 😊
You can also use both hands to push up your body up. Just twist your upperbody a little bit to slope, use both hands to push up. And you back to game. :)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That is a great illustration! Got so tired early on being in the back seat. This shows why I was tired and how to fix it. Excellent!!
Do the pole plant on the up movement, or does the pole plant trigger the up movement? 🤔
Yes
Yes
It’s so weird hearing a British person give skiing tips
Super helpful. But what if there is a lot of fresh or crud snow? Or moguls ?
